Anakin died! Not such a badass now, are ya?
Sorry, I just don't like Anakin. Vader is awesome. Anakin = whiney, wimpy, gullible.

Anakin gave his son a final little smile. “Take care of your mother,” he said, and unclipped his belt.
Screaming and tumbling all the way down, Luke clung to the unworn belt and used the Force to cushion his descent as best he could. He smashed into a tree, breaking through branch after branch before snagging his foot on a vine and hanging upside down. In the distance was a great rumble and a flash of light that would have overtaken any sun. The light shone even through his closed eyelids, and after the blinding explosion subsided, he struggled to get himself oriented and reach out to his father with the Force.
By then, Anakin was gone.

Wow, quite a lot's happened in the last 2 months. Things have been pretty crazy, but at least BOLC2 is done--thank god. Now it's time for a long delayed update!
17
“What's the matter?” Han asked as Chewbacca growled anxiously. “You smell something? Hear something?”
Chewbacca growled again. Definitely agitated about something. Han yawned as he rubbed his eyes, the inevitable effect of too little sleep and far too much stimcaf. He'd been flying the
Falcon
around in circles for hours now, waiting to receive Anakin's pickup signal.
Alarms went off, speakers chirped various warnings, joysticks locked in place, and consoles lit up like Coruscant at night. Chewbacca was screaming now, pounding his mammoth fists on the ship's stiffened controls. Padme entered then, adding to the confusion.
“What are you doing in here?” Han barked. “Why aren't you watching your daughter?”
“She's been asleep since we picked her up,” Padme said. “Any word from Anakin yet?” She took the resulting silence as a no, and noticed the various alarms going off. “What's that flashing?”
“Sit down!” Han cried. “I can't see anything. I don't understand why the sensors are all--”
A shape streaked past the
Falcon,
considerably less than a kilometer away. A shape so massive that it blocked out the sun for several seconds. A brief moment later came an explosion so loud it had Chewbacca howling.
White light flashed with all the speed and power of lightning, shooting angry spears of pain into Han's eyes as though delivered by someone's thumbs. A pillar of flame rose from the ground like a mountain, billowing out into a mushroom cloud, growing bigger and burning hotter, and suddenly the Falcon was all but engulfed. Viewscreens fizzled and popped, flinging glass shards throughout the cockpit.
“Shields!” Han yelled.
“Shields!”
Chewbacca reached for a switch and his console exploded, flinging the powerful Wookiee out of his chair, limp and smoking. Padme didn't hesitate to get out of her seat and tend to him, but then another explosion buffeted the ship and knocked loose an overhead storage compartment. A half-dozen durasteel boxes spilled out and landed right on top of her.
Han's palm sizzled as he muscled the white-hot flight stick with all the strength he had. He heard an explosion from somewhere inside the ship this time, and worked harder and harder to turn the ship away from the gigantic column of fire as pieces of the ship fell off and engines shorted out.
The
Falcon
took her sweet time turning away from the blast, and the loss of the inertial dampers sent loose gear and equipment flying through the ship like fists. More devices and panels exploded as various objects struck them, and each mechanical failure rendered the Falcon harder and harder to control.
“Padme!” He screamed. “Chewie!” Neither responded.
He knew he would have a tough time getting the
Falcon
to limp out of the blast's range, and even then he'd still have to worry about debris and fallout and, depending on the prevailing winds and the nature of the explosion, there would even be danger of radiation poisoning. That meant he needed to be far from here.
And that wasn't happening.
Through the devastated cockpit he could see mountains not too far away, but the loss of the afterburners meant he wouldn't get the elevation he needed. His hand still burning, he looked around frantically and saw a valley full of treacherous-looking rocks with a river at its base. Maybe, he thought, he could use the water to soften the ship's landing and follow the river downstream to the coast. Then he could figure things out from there.
The
Falcon
slowly turned toward the valley, and with the attitude jets down there was little he could do to avoid the rocks that reached out like hands trying to turn the
Falcon
into a black smear on the valley walls. The ship took hit after hit, each strike tearing free vital components and chunks of agonized metal.
Sweat dripped down Han's chiseled face, the result of the fires onboard and the intensity of his concentration. One wrong move, one break in his focus, and the
Falcon,
for all its glamor and history, would be nothing more than a burning wreck. In all likelihood it already was, but Han clung to that tiny shred of a chance that she could still be salvaged.
The ground rose up to him, and the flight stick snapped off in his hand. He had but a moment to stare at the stick amazed and stupidly before the
Falcon's
port side struck home, grinding against the base of the valley wall and snapping Han's teeth together as if the galaxy's biggest ronto had kicked him in the wrong place. The
Falcon's
ventral side splashed into the water, spraying it in every direction and putting out some of the flames as the
Falcon
spun and groaned and bled off her friction.
Then she stopped, big and heavy enough that the river's current couldn't move her, and after waiting for a long count Han could breathe again. There was no water at his feet, incredibly; the
Falcon
was rightside up in the water and all the hull breaches must have been on the dorsal side. Confident that they were safe for the moment, he collapsed out of his chair and crawled over to the inert Chewbacca.
“Let's go, buddy,” he said, petting the singed fur that was still hot to the touch. “It's time to get up.”
No response. He ran his hand over Chewbacca's fur coat, and it took him a while to comprehend the blood stains and the great shard of glass that was almost completely buried in the Wookiee's muscular throat. The arrogant man, the dashing space pirate with no need for weakness, suddenly found himself flooded with emotions that he was used to blocking. “We need to go now,” Han said as he started to cry, the tears clearing some of the dirt and blood from his face. “You've slept enough. We've got work to do. Gotta get the
Falcon
back up in the air, you know? The work never stops.”
The mighty Wookiee laid there, motionless.
“Please say something. Don't leave me alone here. Not now, not after all we've been through. Don't give up on me, Chewie. Winners never quit, and quitters never win.”
Nothing. His greatest friend, his most trusted companion through years of joy and hardship, his buddy who had
always been there,
said nothing. Did nothing.
“Please,” Han whispered tearfully. “Don't go.”
Daring not consider what had happened, he decided to turn to Padme. It took all his strength just to lift one of the durasteel boxes off her, and there were still five more. “Let's go, Your Worship. Time to get off your butt and do some work for a change. I need your help here. We've gotta find your hubby, remember? Get busy living, or get busy dying. Remember when I told you that?”
She was motionless, too.
“No,” he said, anger starting to eat up his sadness. “Damn it, no! Don't do this to me! Get up!”
The quintessential tough guy found himself crying again. He grabbed Padme by the shoulders and throttled her for all he was worth. “Come on! Let's go!”
But she didn't oblige him. She, like Chewbacca, was lying quite still.
For the first time in years, Han didn't know what to do. He didn't have a friend to turn to for sympathy or advice. He didn't have a ship to fly wherever he wanted.
He was alone.
* * * * *
Your brother has betrayed us.
Leia woke up on the floor, her bunk disheveled, her body covered in bumps and bruises from sharp and gouging bits of debris hitting her. For as long as she'd slept, she still felt exhausted—
What had happened? One moment she was on Byss, talking to her father, begging for his forgiveness, and now she was here.
Kill him.
There was a voice in her head, but it wasn't hers. The shadow was there—maybe it had always been there. It coalesced into a physical form, into Shyft.
He must pay for what he's done to you.
“Wh-what's happened?” she muttered weakly. “I've been out of it for a while. What are you doing here?”
You don't remember me. I live on through you.
“Sh-Shyft? My b-brother wanted to kill you...” She knew she shouldn't be talking to him, but as tired and hungry as she was, she figured it didn't matter.
Yes. And he succeeded in killing no one but your father.
“He isn't dead. I just saw him—”
He has fallen. A useless waste. Because of him, your ship has crashed. You are stranded here now. Your mother has fallen, too.
“What? What do you mean?”
Leia my child, your brother has killed your parents. He forced you to join the crooked ways of the Sith. He has to pay for what he's done.
“There's no way,” she said. “I haven't been asleep for that long. I don't believe it.”
A jumble of images clawed their way into Leia's mind. She pictured Anakin tied to the
Malignant
as it crashed; she pictured Padme screaming and crushed by debris as the
Falcon
crashed in turn. She reached into the Force and felt an emptiness where once there had been love.
“My parents...I...I can't...”
You don't need to say anything. This is the time for actions, not words. Your brother is still on this planet somewhere. Find him.
“How?”
Trust your feelings. Use your anger and make him pay.
She stood, and found that fatigue and hunger didn't bother her anymore. She had a mission now, and her own comfort meant nothing. She turned to the far wall of her room. “This really is a nice ship,” she said evenly. “Too bad there's a hole in it.”
She outstretched both arms and brought them out to her sides, and the
Falcon's
hull whined and knurled and twisted itself open. With a gurgling rush, the river's water issued inside and swept over her.
