Grabbing her hand, Dean started to lead them back the way he had come. So focused was he on trying to get them out that he failed to pay attention to the rest of their surroundings and misjudged the danger they were in. His only warning came too late in the form of Padmé’s terrified scream and the sound of splintering wood.
Whoa, what a cliffie! I certainly hope Padme is ok and they get out of there safely.

Ok, so I know I said I would have posted last week, but things just got crazy over the weekend. That, and I took another look at the next post and decided I didn't like it, so I am working on re-writing it as we speak. Again, I will PM everyone when the next post is up.

Okay, so first of all, that TOTALLY sucks! but I understand...
On another completely unrelated note, I just noticed something that I hadn't picked up on before. Alec's last name is Jade, and he has green eyes. Mara's last name is Jade and she has green eyes.
Kala has red hair, Mara has red hair. Alec and Kala have a little relationship sub-plot going on....do you see where I'm going with this?

Dean, eh? Hmm....Well, he sure is a brave one. Although sometimes the word "brave" can be substituded for "stupid". 
But then how would Padme' be saved, if some stu--I mean brave young man didn't come along to save her?

Darth-Effie - I do see where you are going with this!!!  You know, you are the first reader to bring that up; I was starting to worry that everyone had missed it. Kudos to you!
jedilegolas- Dean was a bit reckless, yes, but he won't get into too much trouble.
LoveAnakin1- Welcome! I'm glad you are liking the story so far. I've added you to the list.
Meredith_Kenobi- I agree, sometimes brave and stupid go hand in hand. Perhaps Dean is some of both. Read on to find out how the cliffie ends!
Ok, so here is the next part (finally!). I'm still not totally happy with it, but I figured you guys had waited long enough to find out what happened to Dean and Padme. Also, I know a lot of people are asking about Anakin's whereabouts....don't worry, he'll be showing up withing the next 2-3 posts.

Ok, now on to the post!
Theed’s market was now in utter chaos as firefighters rushed to contain the fire and lead people away from the danger.
Palo ran up to a group of three people. “Joselyn, Lucas, you need to get away from here. Where are Padmé and Anita?”
“They are inside somewhere,” Lucas said.
Palo’s eyes grew wide. “What?!”
A man Palo did not know stepped forward. “And my idiot cousin went in after them!”
Palo swore. “The fool! He could get them all killed!”
Joselyn gave a strangled sob and sank to her knees.
The other man suddenly turned around to face the building just as a portion of the roof caved in. “That’s it, I’m going after them.”
Palo grabbed his arm. “Is there insanity in your family or something? You don’t have the training for this!”
The man looked at him coldly. “Come if you want, but I am not leaving them behind.” He jerked out of Palo’s grasp and strode away.
Palo, of course, had no choice but to follow him. “They could be anywhere!” Palo pointed out once they were inside.
“We’ll find them,” the man said confidently.
“Well, we should split up; our chances of finding them will be better that way.” Palo did not give the man a chance to protest before he headed off on his own.
Kale did not waste time worrying about him. Instead, he headed off in the opposite direction, praying he would find Dean in one piece.
He turned a corner only to find him partially trapped by a fallen beam while a young woman tried her best to get it off him. Kale rushed forward, and together they were able to throw the beam aside.
“Are you two all right?” Kale asked her as he simultaneously checked Dean’s pulse. It was steady, but Kale feared he would be unconscious for a while.
“I think so,” the woman said shakily as she picked up a little girl. “Is he…”
“He’ll be fine,” Kale assured her as he hefted Dean over his shoulder. As he did so, he noticed the fire creeping towards them. “Now come on, we need to get out.”
A few tense minutes later they were back outside. Before Kale knew it, the mother of the little girl was enveloping him in a hug as the father took their daughter from the young woman’s arms. Moments later, the firefighter made it out as well, though he looked slightly disappointed about something. Kale assumed it was because he did not yet know his friends were alive. However, Kale did not spare it another thought for he found himself being ushered away so Dean could get medical attention as word quickly spread about the two new heroes.

You are being too hard on yourself. I still liked that post, you have a nice setup to build on this story. That being said, poor Dean, he really tried to help out but it did not work out. I do hope he will be ok, he did try to help.

At least everyone's alright...although Dean's attempt at rescue was futile and had to get himself rescued instead.
