So glad Padmé is okay.
Hmm … Dean is as impetuous as Anakin & Kale is as cautious as Obi-Wan. I want to think that it’s them but then again … maybe not ‘cause Anakin would have sensed something was about to collapse. Sorry this story is so good that it has my imagination working overtime.

Ok, so jmsbndgrl go the post back to me sooner than I thought. She is such an awesome beta!! 
So yeah, here is the next part!!
The darkness pressed in around him, threatening to suffocate him. The silence surrounded him and seemed to drown out everything else like sound would have done. He wanted out. He needed to get out.
As soon as the thought filtered across his mind, he became aware of things, mainly voices. Familiar voices, strange voices; they slowly trickled into his awareness as water seeps through cracks. It was only after one voice consistently expressed worry about his condition that he decided he should probably wake up.
It was harder than he thought, but after a while he slowly cracked one eyelid open, then another. As he waited for his vision to adjust, he turned his head and saw a woman sitting in a chair next to the bed he was in. As his memory caught up with him he realized she was the one from the dance recital.
Her head was tilted down so that her chin rested on her chest. Her brown hair cascaded over her shoulders, slightly hiding her face from view. Behind her he could see the sun setting through a window, the soft pink light giving her an almost unearthly glow.
“Am I in heaven?” he whispered softly.
At the sound of his voice, her head jerked up as her eyes searched the room before finally settling on him. As soon as she saw that he was awake, her face softened into a smile.
“You’re awake, thank goodness. How are you feeling?”
He tried to sit up, but winced as his back screamed in protest. “Very sore. Where am I?”
“At my house. My name is Padmé.”
“Padmé,” he repeated softly. He looked around the room before saying, “I’m Dean.”
Padmé nodded. “Your cousin told me.”
As soon as she said that, everything came rushing back. The fire, Padmé and the little girl, the falling ceiling…
“Are you all right?” he asked as he once more tried to sit up. “The little girl…”
“She’s fine,” Padmé assured him. “We are both fine, thanks to you and Kale.”
“He got us out?”
Padmé nodded. “He has been waiting for you to wake up. Do you want me to go get him?”
“If you don’t mind,” Dean said. As she left the room, he tried to sort through his thoughts and what he remembered from the fire as memories slowly came back to him.
Soon after, Kale came into the room, relief clearly etched on his face. Before Dean could say anything, Kale had enveloped him in a brief hug. “Don’t you ever do that again! What were you thinking?”
Dean smiled as he noticed a glint in Kale’s eyes that could be seen as humor. “I guess I wasn’t thinking. You always say I have a tendency to do that.”
Kale laughed, just glad that Dean was going to be all right. The moment was interrupted by a knock on the door, and Padmé entered carrying two steaming mugs of tea. As she handed one to Dean and one to Kale, she said, “I talked to Sabé and Kala, and if you don’t have any previous plans, we would like for you to stay with us while you are here.”
Dean and Kale glanced at each other, surprise written on both of their faces. “We couldn’t possibly impose on you like that…” Kale tried to protest.
Padmé held up a hand to stop him. “Please. It is the least I can do. I owe my life to the both of you. Please allow me to do this.”
Kale sent a questioning look in Dean’s direction. Dean cast his eyes down for a brief second before looking up and nodding. Kale smiled. “Then we’ll gladly accept.”

On the other side of town a man was furiously pacing across the floor, the heels of his boots pounding out a steady rhythm with each step. However, his thoughts were anything but steady. His plan had failed again. He was supposed to have been the one to save her from the fire, not some complete stranger!
The plan had been a simple one in his mind: save her from the fire and she was sure to be his. But as with the first fire he had set, things had gone wrong. In the previous instance everything had gone terribly out of hand and had resulted in the death of her family. Some sane part of him had an inkling that she blamed him for not being able to save her family, but it was a very small part. He was determined that one day Padmé would realize her love for him. Although after this latest defeat, he was beginning to wonder if he would ever win her over.
With a sharp shake of his head Palo erased all his doubts from his mind. He would simply have to come up with another plan. Only this time, he would make sure there would be no more mistakes. Solidifying his decision, Palo looked over at the portrait of the woman who occupied his every thought. “You will be mine,” he whispered into the dead silence, “one way or another.”

That Palo is always a creep. Every fanfic he's employed in, he's just a creep!! Seriously though, where's future King Ani? Two chappies now and he's nowhere to be seen. What's up with that?

Palo has no problem being the cause of such death and destruction and he thinks Padme is going to love him? Or maybe he doesn't care about love as long as he has her.

You know it's a good thing that George Lucas never really elaborated on Palo's character cause then we can make into the bad guy in like everything! 
But at least everyone's ok now and maybe Anakin will pop in soon...

Jeez. That was kind of amazing. Kind of really amazing. I love the line about water seeping through the cracks. That took my breath away. Your characterization of Palo is brilliant; I could practically see his descent into madness.
I wonder if Anakin will show up to save Padme from Palo..I mean Dean's great and everything but he doesn't have the Force, and I have a feeling that's gonna come in handy when dealing with Palo's extreme measures.
Great post, looking forward to more.
