whoa...a bomb....I wonder who planted that. I was just dying to find out who the mysterious man was, but alas......I'll just have to wait some more!

What was that explosion? Was it a bomb? If so, who was it aimed at? Anakin? How could anyone have know n he would be there, to have the forsight to plant a bomb?

The main market in the city of Theed was crowded as usual. People were arguing over prices, sales people were unloading things at their stalls, and there was general mayhem everywhere. However, to someone coming to Naboo for the first time, it held all the excitement that visiting a brand new place brings.
Two men stood at the entrance to the market, looking around with interest. Appearance wise, they could not be more different. The slightly shorter one had hair as black as night, with a few strands that fell into his midnight-blue eyes. There was a mysterious air to him, as though he knew things others did not. His friend was slightly taller, with blond hair and bright brown eyes. He seemed more approachable, but at the same time very stern.
The black haired man turned to his cousin and said, “Kale, I think I am going to like it here.”
Kale smiled, his brown eyes bright with amusement. “I knew you would Dean. Things here are going to be much more interesting than back home.”
Dean chuckled. “You never would have heard Uncle saying that; that place is…” he trailed off, then took a deep breath. “That place was his life.”
Kale placed a hand on Dean’s shoulder. “I miss him too.” He glanced down at his chrono. “Tell you what Dean, I’ll go get supplies, and you can just look around. We’ll meet back here in an hour, all right?”
Dean nodded. “Sure.”
Kale glared at him. “Just don’t get into any trouble.”
“Hey, its me,” Dean replied as he headed off. There was so much to see. Having come from a very small town on a mostly rural planet, he wasn’t used to the bustle of a city. But he was excited nonetheless. It had been his Uncle’s wish that Dean would get away from his simple life and go out into the universe, and Dean wanted to honor his Uncle’s memory by doing just that.
Pausing at an intersection, Dean pushed strands of his black hair out of his face, wondering where he should go first. Seeing a crowd forming in front of a stage, he headed in that direction. As he got closer, he started to hear music.
Making his way to the front of the crowd, he stopped near the edge of the stage. A group of four girls were in the middle of a dance, and over to the right of the stage was a young woman playing a piano. She was, in a word, beautiful. For some reason, he could not take his eyes off her.
Suddenly, she looked up and their eyes locked. It was only for a brief moment, but there seemed to be something there.
She was the one to look away first. When she did, he faded back into the crowd, a bit taken aback by what had just happened. He couldn’t explain it…whatever it was. He did, however, decide to stay for the rest of the recital, or at least until it was time to meet back up with Kale. When the first number ended, he caught himself watching the piano girl leave. Then, after the entire recital was over, he noticed her standing outside with one of the girls from the first dance group.
Snap out of it Dean, he told himself. She is only a girl.
“There you are Dean,” Kale’s voice said from behind him.
Dean turned around. “Has it been an hour already?”
Kale nodded.
“Sorry,” Dean said. “I was just watching the dance.” He indicated the stage behind him, dimly registering that the girl was gone.
“Don’t worry about it,” Kale said as he passed one of his bags to Dean. “Why don’t we just-” Whatever he was going to say was interrupted by a loud explosion.
Dean and Kale ducked at the same moment, covering their heads with their arms. Panicked screams split the air as people hurried to leave the surrounding area. Nearby, a blond woman was clutching at the arm of a brown haired man while she gestured frantically at the now burning building behind them, a look of anguish on her face.
Acting on impulse Dean ran over to them. “What’s wrong?”
“Our daughter and our friend are in there!” the woman cried, her voice cracking with emotion. “Please, we have to help them! Our friend, Padmé, her family died in a fire; she won’t be thinking clearly.”
Dean took one look at the couple’s panic-filled eyes and made his choice. Hearing sirens heading their way, he turned to Kale. “When the firefighters get here, do what you can to help them!”
Kale’s eyes took on a panic all their own. “Dean, you can’t possibly-” but Dean was gone, already heading towards the burning building.
As soon as he entered, the smoke nearly blinded him. Trying to see through it, he stumbled forward. Remembering the name the woman had mentioned, he called out, “Padmé? Padmé, can you hear me?”
Stumbling into what appeared to be a dressing room, he immediately noticed a pile of debris…and a pair of legs. Running over, he dug through the pile until he finally uncovered the woman from the stage holding onto a little girl. “Padmé?”
Padmé groaned, her eyes fluttering open. “What…?”
Dean reached out his hand to help her up. “Can you walk?”
Padmé seemed to snap out of her stupor. Bending over the little girl, she placed her fingers on her neck. “I think she’s unconscious.”
“Carry her then; we have to get out of here.”
Padmé’s eyes grew wide. “But, the fire…”
Remembering the woman’s words again, he said, “There’s no fire down here yet. I think the explosion came from upstairs.” As if to prove his point, the ceiling above them groaned.
With an obvious effort, Padmé pulled herself together. Picking up the girl, she nodded.
Grabbing her hand, Dean started to lead them back the way he had come. So focused was he on trying to get them out that he failed to pay attention to the rest of their surroundings and misjudged the danger they were in. His only warning came too late in the form of Padmé’s terrified scream and the sound of splintering wood.
