oh my goodness. that fight was... well, exhilarating! The confrontation was so vivid and furious. Well, it seems that's your specialty. Great job describing the fight.

That ending was not settling, not at all. I hope there isn't another incident. After all, now that Ventress is disintegrated, it might be difficult to say that she was the one that hurt Padme. >_>

I await another update!

randomangel22 - Finally Anakin and Obi-Wan come face to face, will things get out of hand? Anakin V Asajj was brutal, but just a testament to how skilled of a fighter the Hitman is. grin

KELIA - Padme is extremely stubborn in her ways, even in the face of danger. It's what made her the leader of the Alliance, but yes, sometimes it can be dangerous. Thanks for reading! happy

Amidala66 - I am thrilled you enjoyed the combination, I tried to make it as enjoyable as possible. hugs

Ascal_Elessar - Thank you for the humbling words! happy

Vivid_Scripts - I am happy that you got to read one of my action sequences. Yes, action is my speciality, it where I truly push the boundaries beyond what has been done on these boards. It's not easy living up to such a huge title, the Undisputed Master of Action, my readers who gave me that title expect a certain level from my action sequences, it has to be creative, original, and something that will get the adrenaline pumping. If you enjoyed it, I consider myself lucky enough to have pulled it off again. As for Anakin V Obi-Wan, will it turn out the same way as Anakin V Asajj? confused

Hi everyone - If there is one thing I plan on doing before leaving fan fiction, that is completing this fic. As you can tell the update frequency is getting less and less, and I just can't keep going on like this, because it is frustrating me in that I can't tell the story at the pace I want to. I have to be honest, I don't have the drive as much as I used to, I've started to feel burnt out. Oh well, all things come to an end, but I enjoyed every bit of it. I'll try to get an update this weekend, got to try before heading to Paris for a few days. Take care! hugs

The Hitman

Chapter Twenty Five

The unsettling tumultuous sand brazenly assaulted Padme’s vision. She protectively placed her curved palm over her brow, and prevented the coarse mineral from assaulting her sight. The desolate and inhospitable terrain seemed alien but inexplicably familiar at the same time, perplexing the diminutive beauty, as she steadily braved the raging sand dunes.

Her mind incessantly asked the question. Why was she walking alone in such a dangerous and unforgiving environment? What was the purpose of her presence on a planet that remained inexorably scorched by its twin suns? Why was she there? Her throbbing heart quickly reminded of the one person who she felt could save her from this eternal loneliness.

“Anakin!” Her delicate voice disappeared in the turbulent wind caressing her feminine frame.

“Please don’t take him!”

The distressed voice of a woman powerfully reverberated through Padme’s cerebellum. The courageous senator relentlessly ran through the diminishing winds, and gasped in horror as she saw Anakin lying unconscious on the rough terrain. A nauseating pool of blood congregated around his lacerated torso, debilitating the proud warrior, whilst he audibly swallowed in oxygen.

“Anakin! Anakin!”

Padme felt an excruciating pain ravage her heart, it traumatic power ruptured through her resolve, freezing her breathing. She ran towards her true love, collapsing beside his bruised and battered body in an attempt to hold him in her loving arms. Padme watched in bewilderment as her arms went straight through Anakin…for whatever implausible reason; she could not make any physical contact with him.

“Please leave him, he’s my only son.”
Padme snapped her head up and noticed a middle aged woman pleading to a seemingly dark treacherous being, wearing a capacious dark cloak.

“Shmi…” Padme whispered in disbelief. It was indisputable that the woman standing over Anakin’s savaged body was his mother…exactly as he had once described her. Padme cautiously stood up and walked towards the two figures.

“Your son has been extremely impressive in defying my affiliates against the republic from their sanctuary…on your pathetic planet.” The hideous voice spoke. “His attributes are pleasing and he will be a great asset to my Empire.”

“Palpatine!” Padme watched completely stunned.

“He’s innocent; he was only helping those young children.” Shmi pleaded.

“A trait that could be most helpful.” Sidious smirked. “But it seems that he has a glaring weakness which must be exterminated…You.” The dark lord liberated his crimson blade and silenced Shmi.

“No! You murderer!” Padme lunged towards Palpatine, only to fall straight through his silhouette and onto the sandy ground. She desperately looked back over her slender shoulder as the dark lord claimed Anakin to be his own.

She had witnessed the birth of the Hitman.

Obi-Wan allowed the Force to flow freely through his athletic frame, and heighten his already attuned senses to shrouding danger that stood before him. Kenobi stared deeply into the passionate cerulean orbs of the Hitman; he could visibly see the adrenaline surging through his body, amalgamating with his burgeoning perpetual rage. Padme’s safety was the most significant thing, as she lay unconscious by his feet. Under no circumstance were his actions going to initiate a dangerous situation for the leader of the rebellion. However, if Anakin forced his hand, he would have no choice than to retaliate with force.

“My name is Obi-Wan Kenobi and I’m here to help you.” Kenobi steadily raised his hands in a peaceful gesture. “I’m a Jedi who has been assigned to ensure the safety of Senator Amidala.”
Anakin watched intently, his fingers twitching on the cylindrical hilt.

“She is all I have left…I’m not going to let you take her from me. She’s been hurt enough!”

“Anakin…yes I know your name.” Kenobi stated. “I helped her bring you here, when you were injured, when you needed help. I know who you are, and I wasn’t going to leave her here with you…but she believed in you. And I want to believe in you as well.”

“I don’t need you believing in me.” Skywalker replied. “You’re standing in my way!” The Hitman liberated his raging crimson blade, the grueling battle against Ventress and the clone troopers lingered through his mind. It was him against the galaxy…as it’s always been.

Kenobi unleashed his humming blue blade, and changed his stance, aligning the blade across his upper torso.

“If this is the only way.”

“Anakin…stop!” Padme’s desperate voice immediately halted the physical altercation from commencing. She courageously stumbled back up, nursing the sides of her temple, as she walked towards Anakin.

“I know…” She said softly, her broken eyes looked deeply into Skywalker’s. “I know what happened.”

Anakin was bemused by Padme’s cryptic revelation. His questioning eyes silently asked what she knew. Padme slowly placed her open palm on his chest. The Hitman gasped, as he viewed the exact same vision that Padme had seen…his bloodied body, his mother’s pleas for his life…and the Emperor claiming him as his personal Hitman after killing his mother.

The tears began to fall down Anakin’s lean face, whilst he stared back at Padme. She tightly pressed her lips together and gently nodded, confirming that it was true. The Emperor had stolen his life from him and given him one of a Hitman so blinded by his own pain that he did everything that the murderer of his family asked.

“Padme…” Obi-Wan questioned from afar.

Padme turned around and looked at Kenobi.

“He’s just found out the truth about his pain. The Emperor…he killed Anakin’s mother and made him what he is with his poisonous lies.”

Anakin plummeted to his knees and stared into the grassy formation on the ground. The tears inexorably inundated his shattered blue eyes. He worked for the man that took everything away from him. Everything. The same man who was now planning on taking Padme away from him also. It was all lies, the rebellion, the Jedi, the reasons for the formation of the Empire, and the Emperor used him to terminate those who opposed his iron fist reign.

“I’m going after him…” Anakin stated.

“Surely you cannot be serious. The Emperor will be expecting something like this.” Kenobi reasoned.

“Anakin, I know you’re hurt. But this isn’t how you react; it will play right into his hands.” Padme said.

Anakin shook his head.

“I have one Mark left…Emperor Palpatine.

Palpy better be on guard because The Hitman is coming to get him. I hope Obi tries to help him but I think that it is something that Anakin has to do on his own.

Great job A-H!! kiss

Wouldn't want to be in Palp's shoes now, cant wait for the confrontation. Your uniqure brand of action will be sorely missed.

The Hitman

Chapter Twenty Six

Grievous’ repugnant viper like eyes meticulously scrutinized a greenish holoimage of the Emperor’s palace, continuously using his tactical guile to eliminate possible infiltration sections. His capacious dark cloak, a noticeable replacement for the one he lost during his brutal confrontation with the Hitman on Naboo, remained draped over his hunched metallic torso, whilst he constantly circled the large image. Several clones worked in the background, carrying out mandatory checks, and deploying new hazard repellent artillery suggested by the droid general.

Despite the punishing events of Naboo ending with the eradication of both Senator Amidala and the Hitman, the menacing mechanical monstrosity was unable to shake the dissatisfaction of being supremely outclassed by an opponent. His pride was wounded far worse than he would have liked to admit…after numerous victories, claiming various accolades, and instilling fear in the hearts of all those who even thought of opposing him meant nothing when he pitted his strengths against those of Skywalker. By allowing the thermal detonators to obliterate Varykino, he felt cheated out his true win, and as a student of war, there was nothing more he resented.

“It appears that the tunnel intersecting level fourteen is susceptible to possible infiltration.” Grievous paused before that particular part of the image. “Deploy motion sensors and isolate the section.”

The ever obedient clones immediately entered in the instructions into the security main frame, and initiated the order.

The main hexagonal doors hissed vibrantly as they opened, capturing the hulking droid’s undivided attention. Count Dooku imperiously made his presence felt, his characteristic regal features were mutilated into a stern frown, and his authoritive footsteps reverberated with the ominous sounds of danger. Before Grievous could even bow to honor the presence of the individual who was instrumental in creating his chilling aura, he felt something imperceptible, but inconceivably powerful control his colossal frame.

Dooku abhorrently snarled and vertically raised his palm into the still ambience. The dark side lifted the droid general several feet off the floor, and grotesquely outstretched his appendages, and hyperextended them back, paralyzing the proud tactical general. Grievous struggled to break free of the indiscernible binders, but realized he was at the mercy of the Sith lord, as he stared at him with confusion and uncertainty.

“It appears that lying is now accustomed with your failed expeditions.” Dooku stated.

“My master, I have not lied to you.” Grievous replied humbly, as he remained static imprisoned in the midair. “I have always carried out my mandate successfully.”

“I’ve just heard an interesting report regarding the death of Asajj Ventress, a quite capable assassin, at the hands of a more than worthy opponent. The Hitman.” Tyranus narrowed his eyes in disgust.

“Impossible!” Grievous proclaimed. “I terminated his life with my own hands! He died, I saw it!”

“Your thoughts betray you.” Dooku methodically replied. “I can sense the uncertainty in your voice…the deception!” The Sith lord further intensified his asphyxiating hold upon the droid general, stretching his arms and legs out to the point that they threatened to break away from the metal chassis of Grevious.

“Did you kill him yourself?!” Dooku asked angrily.

General Grievous realized that it was futile to resist, any more shrouded claims, would result him possibly incapacitated from the brutality he was being subjected to for good.

“No, my Master.” He lowered his eyes in failure and disappointed.

“Your complete failure has captured the attention of the Emperor, for which I have paid a price.” Dooku ominously hinted to his latest rendezvous with Sidious upon the Death Star. “He, as I, am most displeased with your work. The Hitman will be coming…for all of us, the Emperor has foreseen it, and you will do exactly as I will say.”

*****

Padme quietly stood beside Obi-Wan, Owen and Beru at the moisture farm on Tatooine, whilst they all watched Anakin in the distance standing beside his mother’s eternal resting place. The sky was painted with splendiferous swirls of red and orange, amalgamating into the darkening skies in the horizon, as Anakin stood impassively by Shmi’s gravestone. Padme felt her own heart brutally twist and contort with excruciating pain; her sacred bond with Anakin grew with every passing moment, her yearning need to love him, hold him, and protect him from all the pain that savagely ruined his life assailed her mind.

“We thought we’d never see him again.” Owen said, as he placed his arm around his wife.

“He is here now, and that matters the most.” Obi-Wan calmly stated. “Anakin had lost his way, had become something he didn’t choose to be, but the Force has allowed him to find his way home.”

“We saw what it did to him…what the war did to him.” Beru emotionally looked at Padme. “We saw him die every day, blinded by the crusade to save the galaxy, when it was he who needed saving. We’d lost our mother and father, we’d didn’t want to lose him.” Beru clasped Padme’s hand. “But you…you found him, brought him home.”

Padme courageously contained her tears, and smiled reassuringly at Beru.

“We won’t allow the Emperor to take him again.” Obi-Wan said. “I will address the circumstances to the Jedi Council, and seek guidance. Anakin will no longer be a prisoner to his own pain.”

“We just want him home.” Owen replied.

“And you will.” Kenobi nodded his head in accordance.

Padme noticed that Anakin was approaching them, and she steadied herself for whatever he would say. Skywalker, reluctant to make eye contact with everyone lowered his broken cerulean orbs and slowly walked past. Padme watched in confusion, as Anakin sat in a speeder.

“Where are you going?!” Owen asked.

“Home…” Anakin activated the controls and speed off towards the outskirts of Mos Espa.

*****

Shmi’s incorruptible essence encapsulated Anakin’s soul, whilst he slowly walked around the simple living quarters that they lived in before his mother married Cleigg. Each corner of the abandoned home reminded the Hitman of a specific moment that he shared with his mother. He saw the room where he created his first simple contraption, a device that would help his mother separate the ingredients before she cooked.

An irresistible tear fell down his chiseled face, as he recalled how his mother would lovingly wipe the oil and grime from his face, when he got messy during his pod racing days. How he would share his wonderful stories of becoming the best pod racer in the galaxy…how he would free her from slavery.

Anakin sat at the table, and buried his head into his arms. He had become something that he never thought he would, he hurt the people closest to him, and because he was so blinded by his own pain…he had lost himself for so many years, turning his back on love. Skywalker cried, finally allowing the pain inundating his soul to leave his body forever. He felt the touch of delicate finger softly running down his hand, and he immediately looked up to see Padme lovingly look down upon him.

“Why did you come here?” Anakin asked.

“To tell you, that you’re not alone…to tell you that you’ll never be alone again.” Padme adoringly caressed Skywalker’s tousled golden mane, before moving her fingers over his face. She wiped his tears, and brought her fingers to her lips before kissing his tears. “I love you Anakin.”

“Why do you love me?” Anakin asked emotionally. “I only bring pain to those who come close to me.”

“Because I can see how rare and special you really are. I can see how pure your heart is, and that is one thing the emperor couldn’t ever take away from you. He couldn’t.” Padme continued to stroke his hair.

“If I die facing the emperor, will you at least love me for the rest of my life?” Anakin asked as he stood up.

“Anakin, don’t say such things.” Padme said emotionally.

“Will you?” Anakin questioned.

“No…I’ll love you for the rest of mine.” Padme replied.

Anakin gently wrapped his arms around his true love, and slowly brought his aching lips down upon Padme’s. The young lovers shared a passionate kiss, which only deepened as Padme tightened her hold upon Anakin.

“Make love to me, Anakin. Please.” Padme’s yearning chocolate orbs conveyed her need to her lover.

“Is it what you want?” Anakin asked breathlessly.

“Yes.” Padme gasped.

*****

Anakin carefully got out of bed, making sure that he did not wake Padme, before getting dressed. Skywalker walked towards a dusty mirror, and wiped it with his hand, to see the reflection of his face. There was nothing he wanted more than to spend the rest of his life with Padme, but the incessant burden refused to alleviate itself from Skywalker’s broad shoulders. The Hitman had one final Mark to take out, Emperor Palpatine…it would be only way that the galaxy would truly be saved.

He couldn’t endanger Padme’s life; he had to do it alone. Skywalker looked back at Padme, whilst she slept before heading off to Coruscant to end it once and for all.
