Conspiracy - AU - Vader, OC, Luke, Leia, Jix, Xizor (pre alternate ANH)
Conspiracy
By Serena Kenobi
Summary: Darth Vader tries to uncover an assassination plot against himself and finds himself being aided by a young runaway with strange abilities. Together, with Gunnery Sergeant and special agent Wrenga Jixton, they search the inner core systems to find the people responsible for the vicious attacks on Vader. But when Vader’s past decides to reveal itself in the middle of all this, he must either face it or finally destroy the last remnants of Anakin Skywalker.
Author's note: Don't kill me because I'm adding a new character, but let me assure you, the character is not the only one with said strange abilities. This story is COMPLETELY AU, so I'm taking liberties. Even Luke and Leia will be... let's say 'different.' It's kind of a crossover, but I'm not giving anything away just yet.
Prologue
Four years after the Rise of the Empire
“Sir, we’re under attack!”
The commander turned to his lieutenant. “Who’s attacking us?” he demanded.
“An unknown ship, sir, most likely pirates. And sir, the ship is three times the size of our own!”
“Lieutenant!” the commander barked. “Now is not the time to be panicking. We have a job to do, so let’s do it. Return fire immediately!”
The CR90 corvette began to fire turbolasers back at the anonymous ship, which was a metallic black and had no insignia on its hull. The shields on the unknown ship held against the blazing fire, however, and in return, released a missile that sped through the blackness of space and exploded into the rear of the corvette.
“Sir, we’ve lost the hyperdrive!” the pilot shouted, “And we’ve got major hull breaches on our stern area!”
“Blast!” the commander growled, brown eyes flashing in both frustration and worry. “Lieutenant Antilles, fire the ion cannon!”
Antilles nodded and hurried off to his station.
Another blast from the enemy ship rocked the corvette violently, and a sudden magnetic pull caused the craft to shudder.
“Sir,” Antilles said, “we’ve been caught up in a tractor beam!”
Commander Nask of the Alderaan Civic Fleet swore under his breath. “I don’t care what you have to do, Antilles,” he said, “just find a way to destabilize their hold on us. I don’t think I have to remind you what’s at stake.”
Antilles, the younger brother of Prince Raymus Antilles of the house of Alderaan, nodded. “You don’t, sir.”
“Commander!” the pilot said. “The other ship is hailing us.”
“Put them on,” Nask ordered, returning to his seat. After a few moments, there was a crackle, then a low, harsh voice on the other line:
“Corellian Corvette, you must stand down and allow us to board your ship. If you don’t, well, it’ll be a lot more trouble for you.”
Nask said bluntly, “I don’t respond well to threats. If you don’t let us go, you will be making an enemy of the entire Alderaan Civil Fleet. Release us at once.”
“That is out of the question,” the voice hissed. “And since you will not obey my commands, you will all be destroyed.”
Nask laughed grimly. “Looks like it’ll be that way, anyhow.” He disconnected the link and said, “Antilles! Any luck yet with that tractor beam?”
Antilles shook his head. “No, sir, I’m sorry. Nothing will penetrate their shields; at least, nothing this ship has. We’re stuck.”
Nask rose to his seat with a calm finality. “Then, gentlemen, I suggest we prepare for a full frontal assault. We’ll try to hold them off as long as possible from the inside. Antilles,” he glanced at the young man. “Come, I must speak with you.” He turned and strode down the corridor, the young lieutenant following him quickly.
They hurried down the halls of the ship, past the alarmed men and droids until they came to a locked door. Nask quickly tapped in his security code and entered into the room. It was fairly plain except for a small, steel bed in the far corner of the room.
Nask went over to the bed and gently lifted a small figure into his arms. He smiled down at it, a sad kind of smile, and revealed the sleeping figure to Antilles. “Beautiful, isn’t she,” he remarked quietly.
Antilles swallowed, nodding. “Yes, sir.”
The sound of the ship being locked into place caused the men to look up at the ceiling, then back to one another.
“There isn’t much time,” Nask said, clearing his throat. He handed the bundle over to Antilles. “I need you to watch her, Antilles. Guard her with your life.”
Antilles nodded again. “Yes, sir, I will.” He stared down at the sleeping baby in his arms.
Nask put a hand on the young man’s shoulder. “I want you to hide,” he said, “ and run to one of the escape pods when you get the chance. She must not – I repeat, not fall into enemy hands.”
“Understood, sir,” Antilles said, determined.
“Good man. Go!”
Antilles quickly stole out of the room, Nask staring after him.
The leader of the pirates surveyed the bridge, glancing at the dead pilot in front of him. “Dispose of the bodies,” he ordered, waving two of his men – well, if they could be called men – over towards the pilot. “Put them in a cargo bay where I don’t have to see them.”
The aliens picked up the body and lugged him out of the bridge; and the leader went over to the command chair and sat down, relishing in his victory.
“Sir!” A smooth voice brought him out of his gloating triumph. He turned in annoyance to see one of his crew coming towards him, holding something in his hands.
“What is
that
?” the leader asked in disgust.
The alien held out the mysterious thing, which squirmed in his arms. “I found this child being guarded by one of the enemy, who was trying to get to the escape pods. He took out three of our men and then tried to put it into a pod.”
The leader stared at the child. “Hmm,” he said. “And where is the man now?”
“Dead, sir.”
“Good.” The leader eyed the thing. “Normally I would dispose of such an… insignificant creature, but she may yet be of some use to the Prince. Take her to the ship and see that she’s cared for.”
“But, sir,” the crew member hesitated. “What use could the Prince have of this human?”
“She could be raised as a servant or trained to be a dancing girl; there are numerous ways she could be useful. Yes, she is not of our kind, but we could always use another… helping hand.”
“I’m Ewena,” the child suddenly spoke in a high, angry voice. “And you’we nawt nice. I want my banthwa!”
The leader raised an eyebrow. “Elena, hmm? How old are you?”
The girl held up four fingers.
“Excellent. Take her to the ship and see that’s she’s cared for. I want her in good condition for the Prince.”
The crewman nodded. “Yes, sir.” He turned and left, the girl still in his arms.
The leader smiled. It would not matter if the girl was human; eventually she would be used for something. But she was a human. Pity.
The Falleen captain turned to the command console and waved his hand at it. After a few moments, a smooth voice said, “Captain, I hope your mission was successful.”
“Yes, my prince. We have also picked up a bit of… extra cargo.”
“Oh?”
“Yes. A human child was found by one of my men – apparently one of the enemy crew had been trying to hide it. I believe she might be useful to you in the future.”
“She? It is a girl, then?”
“Yes, my prince. Four standard years of age.”
A short pause on the other line. “Good. You have served me well. Report back when you are finished.”
“Yes, my prince.”
On the peaceful planet of Alderaan, Viceroy and Prince Consort Bail Organa paced his private meeting room, deeply concerned. Even the sound of the doors opening did not disturb his train of thought.
“Bail!”
Bail looked up to see his friend and brother-in-law, Captain Raymus Antilles, staring at him, troubled.
“I know, Raymus,” Bail said, looking down. “We’ve lost her. And it’s all my fault. I should have let her stay here with Leia.”
“We’ve lost more than just the child,” Raymus added, voice rising. “I’ve lost my only brother; good friends and loyal men of the Alderaan Civic Fleet; and we’ve lost one of our ships to a bunch of blasted pirates.
Pirates
, Bail.”
Bail ignored the improper use of his first name. “I know,” he repeated, placing a firm hand on Antilles's shoulder. “And I can’t tell you how sorry I am for your loss. He was a brave young man. I’m just so worried about the girl, Raymus. She is most likely dead by now; they killed the entire crew. And it would be better if she were. If she’s in the hands of pirates now, who knows what will happen to her?”
Raymus was silent for a moment. “The search vessels found nothing to indicate that the child died,” he finally said. “All the men were accounted for. The child, however, was not.”
The Prince of Alderaan blanched with dread. “Then may the Force be with us all,” he breathed. “And may it protect little Elena as well.” He sunk into a chair and put his head in his hands. “I will never forgive myself for this.”

Yeah, but I have plans for Elena... hehe. Thanks!
Chapter One
She sprinted through the thick, golden smog, passing the many rundown buildings of the Yellow District. The heavy rays of sun bore down on her and seemed to shout out that she was managing to escape. The thick humidity in the polluted air would have bothered any normal being, but she seemed to take no notice of the heated moisture. Her mind was focused on only one thing: escape.
As she dashed through the side streets and took temporary cover under the buildings’ shadows, the girl suddenly heard – no, felt – two presences hunting her. They were near by.
How did they know where she was? How could they have possibly figured out that she had disappeared in such a short span of time?
More importantly, if they knew where she was located, how was she going to escape them once they surrounded her?
First things first. Keep running. Since she was in good shape from all the heavy outside work that had been forced upon her since an early age, she could keep going for another few hours and not grow tired. Also the fact that she was, well, enhanced, helped, too.
The girl paused at a forgotten intersection – this part of the District was apparently abandoned. She debated with herself for a second before choosing the right street and breaking into a run once again.
The forces behind her were beginning to draw closer to her position. They were following her every step, mimicking her every move. Soon she would be hopelessly outnumbered.
How in Vader’s name do they know exactly where I am?
She asked herself.
It’s like they’ve put a tracer on me or something…
her thoughts trailed off as she began to realize that she was mostly likely right.
Halting, she glanced around and jogged into a decrepit building, leaping through one of the broken windows. She immediately took off her boots and stared at them for a moment, eyeing them as if they held something suspicious inside the soles. After a second, she quickly dropped them on the ground and slipped her feet in, satisfied.
Well, there was no tracer on her body; at least, none she could detect. She mentally rescanned her body, this time checking for anything internal, and –
Wait. She frowned, kicked off her boot hastily. She ripped off her sock and knelt down, lightly touching her ankle. Something… something was there. Inside her ankle.
The girl’s head shot up as she felt the figures drawing dangerously close to her position. She looked down at her ankle, wondering what to do. She had to make a decision, and she had to make it fast.
She abruptly pressed an unnaturally gleaming silver fingernail against her ankle, set her teeth, and sliced through her skin. Through the pain and the blood she saw the tiny metal tracer that had been embedded into her skin, probably put there when she had first arrived at the castle. She reached and took it out, ignoring the jolts of pain that seared up through her leg. She crushed the device in her fingers, snatched her sock, and quickly pulled it over her wound. Grabbing her boot, she limped to the window and peeked out.
The figures were just around the corner.
There was another problem. Four more were coming to help them, heading towards her from the opposite direction.
Oh, stang!
The girl glanced down at her booted foot, pressed the wounded area with the other boot to see how it was coming along, then launched herself out through the window and took off down the street. She figured out that if she kept running at a high speed for the next twenty minutes, she might, just might be able to evade the security teams that were closing in on her. But as she continued to fly down a side street, she suddenly felt a sharp warning, almost a painful warning, telling her that the figures were coming right for her from all directions.
She stopped and turned around, feeling for another, a better alternative. But as she gazed around and heard the sound of a security airspeeder heading towards her, she knew it was over.
But there was one more option. She licked her lips, stared down at her hand. Curled it into a fist and looked up again.
“Halt!”
The girl turned sharply to see four security officers standing there, their blasters pointed directly at her chest. Blast. The girl glared at them, knowing she was outnumbered. Not that numbers mattered to her; but she couldn’t take that risk. She wouldn’t kill four Falleen guards just to help herself. She wasn’t a cold blooded killer; stang, she wasn’t even a killer.
No, that was Guri’s job.
The girl reluctantly raised her hands as more guards approached her from behind; and the scream of an airspeeder became louder as it flew over their heads, coming to an abrupt halt a few yards away. It landed in the middle of the street, and out jumped two more officers.
“I surrender,” the girl stated quietly.
The guards from behind pushed her to the ground and forced some handcuffs on her. As she was shoved into the airspeeder one of the guards said to her, “Try anything like that again and you’ll find yourself sent digging in the spice mines of Kessel.”
“Scratch gravel, you piece of sithspit,” the girl snarled sharply, stormy blue eyes darkening in anger.
The guard didn’t reply to that particularly derogatory comment as he entered the front section of the speeder and touched a button on the control panel in front of him. “This is team Xenga-One. We have the escapee in custody, Highness.”
A smooth voice said on the other end of the frequency, “Good. Bring her back to the castle and throw her in a cell until I decide what to do with her.”
“At once, Highness.” The guard disconnected the link and started up the engines of the speeder.
The girl stared dejectedly out of the shaded window as the airspeeder lifted off the ground and raced into the sky.
Kriff
, she thought, frustrated,
Why me?
It was one of those days where Elena wished she could simply disappear. Well, it wasn’t that she couldn’t, because actually, she could, but if she did disappear, she would expose herself.
And exposing herself was something she really didn’t want. The risks were too high. She could end up becoming some sort of twisted experiment and live the rest of her life as a test object, people poking needles into her and scanning her body, searching her DNA for any reason why she was the way she was.
Sith, she didn’t even know why she was the way she was. She just… was.
As stated, exposure was not an option for her.
Elena sat in a dingy, gloomy holding cell, head in her knees as she dreamt of vanishing into the shadows. Her hair, usually a light strawberry blonde, was now filthy, mixed with dirt, dust, and the grime from when she had rested her head against the cell wall.
And it was her own fault that she was thrown in here.
I should’ve done it,
she thought miserably.
I should’ve used my powers instead of trying to escape just with my own senses. Kriff! How could I have been so blasted stupid?
As the door to her holding cell opened, she immediately curled tighter into a protective ball, wrapping her arms tightly around her legs.
“Get up, pathetic human.”
Elena didn’t make any reply or movement.
A nudge to her side caused her to stiffen, but she didn’t move from her position.
“I said,” the voice, a cool tenor, hardened ever so slightly; “get up.” The tone of the voice brooked no argument.
“No.” The muffled reply from Elena could barely be heard, but the other person did hear it.
Immediately, Elena’s hair was yanked upwards, and reflexively, her foot shot out in front of her, kicking the figure in the shin with such great force that he stumbled back, letting her hair go. Elena stared at the alien as he recovered his balance, her eyes filled with fierce indignation.
The alien rose to his full height, green eyes glittering down at her with pure unadulterated rage. “You dare to touch me, you disgusting youngling,” he hissed, his outburst surprising the young girl somewhat. Falleen were known across the galaxy for their ability to hide their emotions behind their changing skin colors, and were rarely prone to sudden displays of strong emotion.
“Yeah, I guess I dare,” she baited him, waiting to see if he would make another furious comment.
The Falleen stood there for a moment, silent. His skin abruptly changed from a cool green into a light orange.
He’s confident,
Elena thought, alarmed,
that’s not a good sign.
The Falleen drew towards her slowly, his hand reaching into his tunic. Elena stared at the tunic, reaching out with her mind–
And ducked, rolling quickly to the side as the Falleen drew out a blaster and fired. The Falleen’s skin faded back into a orangish-green as he gazed at her.
The blaster fired again, and Elena lunged to the side, knowing that it was pointless to waste her energy, when she knew that she could not dodge the blaster forever.
What was even worse was the Falleen seemed to know the same thing, too.
Elena stopped running and flattened herself against the wall, chest heaving. “You don’t have to stun me,” she said with a depressed finality, “I’ll come quietly.”
The Falleen slowly lowered his blaster as he considered her words. “Very well,” he said, his voice returned to the cool tenor.
Elena warily took a step towards the Falleen, eyeing his every movement; and the Falleen began to put his blaster back in his tunic –
Without warning, he whipped the blaster out once more, lunged forward, and whacked Elena with such a hard blow that it sent her flying back into the wall, dazed. He then returned the blaster to its place in his tunic, reached out, grabbed Elena’s shirt, and hauled her out of the cell.

That was so heartbreaking.
I thought for a minute there Elena was going to get away. Poor girl.
I certainly hope she is more cooperative...at least until she can find a way to escape again.
Great update

She's smart enough to know when to behave... but it's that temper of hers I'm worried about.
Thanks!
Chapter Two
The Falleen Prince stared at the crushed tracking device, turning it over in his clawed hands. “Hmm,” he made a noncommittal noise. “You say that she had no outside wound to speak of?”
The tall, attractive blonde standing in front of him shook her head a little. “None to speak of, my prince,” she confirmed.
The Prince raised an eyebrow. “Strange,” he said, “that only one week after the incident the girl would be healed. And no trace of a wound as well. Most interesting.” He leaned back in his chair. “I will bring the subject up with the girl once she is brought here. In the meantime, I must find out how she escaped in the first place. Double check her room and her assigned work areas and see if you can find any evidence of a possible escape route.”
The blonde HRD nodded. “Yes, my prince.” She made a soft military bow and went out of the room.
The first thing Elena felt when noticed when she came to was that she was lying on a soft carpet. The next thing she noticed was the sharp pain in her head that was quickly fading away.
Me and my frelling mouth,
she inwardly grumbled.
I gotta learn when to shut it sometimes.
“Elena, what shall I do with you?”
Elena looked up to see her master staring down at her, displeased. “How about let me go?” she suggested boldly.
The Dark Prince of Falleen smiled, showing his white teeth. “You always were a headstrong thing,” he said. “Not a good character trait for someone in your position.”
Elena slowly rose to her knees. “My ‘position’?” she repeated, resisting the urge to crack her fingers.
“Yes,” Prince Xizor nodded. “Your position. You are a lowly servant, with no family, no money, and nowhere to go.” He went over to his chair and sat. “So why do you continue to try and escape?”
Elena was silent.
“Does the Nexu have your tongue?” Xizor smiled. “So be it. I am a fair person. Tell me how you managed to take out your tracking device and recover from the wound so quickly, and I may be lenient with you.”
Elena didn’t speak, inwardly panicking.
How in Sith’s name did he know about that? And how did they find the device in the first place? I thought I crushed it.
Xizor leaned forward. “You are undoubtedly wondering how I managed to acquire the damaged device. You have the guards to thank for that, for it was they who found it. Now, I will give you one last chance to speak,” he continued, his voice cool, “either you tell me what I wish to know, or the punishment will be twice what they have been in the past. Do we have an understanding?”
She nodded.
Satisfied, he waved a hand. “Speak.”
Elena opened her mouth, said simply, “I’m not telling you.”
“Why not? What do you have to lose? Or gain, for that matter, by hiding it from me?”
I keep my secret from you and live, that’s what.
“Like I said, I’m not telling you,” she repeated, rising to her feet. “I know the punishment, but I can’t tell you what you want to know.”
Xizor gazed at her for a moment, surprised at her defiance. “You are truly an enigma, Elena,” he said. “But since you will not tell me, I am forced to do punish you for your disrespect.” He pressed a button on his chair. “You may take her away.”
The door behind Elena opened, and she turned to see Xizor’s HRD, Guri, step into the room. The assassin glanced at Elena with cold blue eyes and then looked to her master.
“Yes,” Xizor said, knowing what her thoughts were. “Double the punishment.”
Elena silently wished that she could shoot the smug look of the Falleen’s face as she was pulled along to the torture chamber down below.
One day,
she promised.
One day, Xizor, I won’t be your slave anymore. I’ll get out of here and somehow get you back for all of this. I will. You just watch. I just have to find my family first.
And she would.
Lord Darth Vader stood on the bridge of the Devastator, silently gazing out into the somehow calming emptiness of space. Space, stars, planets – none of those things mattered to him anymore. They once had, a long, long time ago…
No. He hated himself for thinking about his past yet again. His past was the only thing that was holding him back. The only reason why a small, yet stubborn piece of Anakin Skywalker sill existed. The only problem that resided in the Dark Lord’s mind. The only thing that refused to let him go, to leave him alone and wander off into the forgotten space as the rest of his former life had.
But he would eventually overcome his one weakness. He was Darth Vader, Lord of the Sith. He could overcome anything that came his way; even overcome his persistently resurfacing past.
Memories of his enemies, the Jedi, immediately ignited the flame of the dark side in him, and it burned brightly and steadily as Vader’s hate flowed through him. The Jedi. Obi-Wan. It was all his fault. All his fault that his wife had died. All his fault that his baby was gone.
Everything was his fault. But he would get even with the Jedi Master someday. He would get even and kill him.
Once he did that, the last remnants of Anakin Skywalker would most definitely be gone.
“Lord Vader–”
Vader turned sharply around, causing the speaker to stop talking. The Dark Lord stared at Captain Firmus Piett of the Imperial Navy. He would never admit it, but Piett was one of the few rare officers whom he actually respected. The man was simply efficient at his job, and Vader admired his work ethic. “What is it, Captain?”
“My lord, the Emperor demands that you make contact with you,” Piett informed him.
Vader said, “Very good. Make sure the frequency is available to my private quarters.”
“Yes, my lord.” Piett bowed and hurried away to obey Vader’s orders.
Vader strode through the Devastator and entered his private meditation chamber, closing it quickly so he could breathe in the hyper-oxygenated environment. Using the Force, he activated the mechanical claw that reached down, removed his helmet, and held it above his scarred head so that he might put it back on before he left the chamber. He touched a panel near the HoloNet transceiver, and in front of him appeared a hologram of an extremely old man, wrinkled and horribly disfigured. The after-effects of Sith lightning.
“Yes, my master?” Vader said.
“Lord Vader,” the Emperor began in his croaking, yet silky tone, “I trust that your search of the Rebels on Dantooine has been successful.”
“It has, my master.”
“Good. You must now travel to the Metellos system. There you will find some… information that will aid us in our fight against the Rebels. The leader of Anaxes is Lord Hurk. Meet with him and be sure to get the data we need.”
Vader paused before saying, “May I ask if this information is from a credible source, master?”
If he was displeased by the question, the Emperor did not show it. “Yes, I believe it is. You will leave for Anaxes at once.”
Vader bowed his head. “It will be done, master,” he said as the hologram of the Emperor faded away before him. He stayed there for a moment, silently pondering his new mission. From what he had heard of Lord Hurk, he was not a man to be dealt with lightly. He had never met him in person, but his spies and double agents had, and they had told Vader that he was a dangerous warlord, answering to no one but the Emperor himself. And if rumors were true, Hurk was one of the most vicious lords in the core worlds. But he also had a reputation as a ladies’ man, apparently the perfect image of tall, dark, and handsome.
Well. If the Emperor trusted Hurk, he had no choice but to obey his master.
Vader moved toward another control panel and suddenly paused, perfectly still. He reached out, commanded the Force – and felt something.
Something… was not right. He couldn’t tell exactly what he felt, but all he knew was that something had changed. A feeling, an uncomfortable, warning feeling that was projected throughout the dark room. It practically tasted of danger, but not dangerous enough. It was just a hint of menace; just a touch of caution.
And when feelings that like those began to arise, Vader knew that danger was close by.
He glanced swiftly around the chamber, his breathing the only sound that could be heard, and reached for his lightsaber–
And dropped it as he suddenly felt a lack of oxygen in his scarred lungs, his breathing short and labored. As he fumbled for the controls to his chamber, he felt the oxygen in the chamber being steadily and quickly depleted. In less than a minute it would be gone.
To be continued...

RE: Conspiracy - AU - Vader, OC, Luke, Leia, Jix, Xizor (pre alternate ANH)
Postie, people! Enjoy!
Vader glanced up, anger building, and called to the claw holding his helmet. The claw had seemingly stiffened, but as he called upon the dark side, it dropped down to his level, and he grabbed the helmet and pushed it tightly onto his head. Pressing the controls on his chest plate, he wheezed and gasped as he felt fresh, welcoming air screaming into his deprived lungs. He sat there, regaining his full strength, then waved to the comm panel.
“Captain Piett,” Vader said harshly, “sweep the ship for any sign of an intruder.”
There was a brief, hesitant pause on the other end, then, “Intruder, milord?”
“Yes, Captain,” Vader snapped. “Do it now. I also want a full systems sweep of anything out of the ordinary.”
“Yes, milord.” The captain’s reply was more quick the second time.
Vader rose from his seat and stepped out of the chamber, mulling over the scenario that had just taken place. He turned, stared at his pod, his eyes searching, his mind reaching out into the Force as he tried to detect the cause of the malfunction. After a few seconds, he found something.
Moving over to the side of the chamber, he found that the oxygen filler tank had been tampered with, causing it to suddenly stop working.
Vader rose to his full height, feeling more angry than he had in a long time. This was no mere malfunction.
This was sabotage. And someone was responsible.
More importantly, someone had gone very great lengths to insure that the oxygen tank would cease to work without any evidence left behind.
Someone was trying to kill him.
Elena threw herself onto her well-worn cot, closing her eyes as soon as her head hit the threadbare pillow. She couldn’t remember a time when she felt so helpless, frustrated, and tired of life all in the same setting.
Sometimes she just felt like ending it all – what would anyone care if one lonely slave girl died, anyway? But for some reason, she felt that she had to keep going.
Elena rolled over on one side and stared out her window. She didn’t know exactly why she felt the need to escape so strongly, but she just knew there was someone out there who cared about her. She didn’t know who, or why, she just knew. And she would do whatever it took to find that someone who cared. That someone she had met before; that someone she knew was looking for her, waiting for her.
Someone was watching out for her.
Exhausted, Elena shut her eyes, blinking back tears, and drifted off into a troubled sleep. And as she dreamed, she had disturbing visions of fire, death, pain, and sacrifice. And a tall, cloaked man stepped forward, his eyes kind and gentle…
You will be all right, young one. Trust in the Force.
Elena’s eyes snapped open.
Who was that?
Elena rubbed her temples and looked out the window. It was dark, and the stars were out. She glanced at the chronometer. 0200 hours, it read. Groaning, she fell back on the bed again. She would never get any sleep at this rate.
“You, girl,” Guri’s voice caused Elena to turn from her work and look at the intimidating HRD.
Elena stood up and wiped her hands on the dirty rag, leaning against the polished duraplatinum-plated cruiser. “Yes?”
Guri gave her a condescending look. “Are you finished with your task?”
Elena glanced at the cruiser, then nodded. “Yeah. You might wanna check the engines, though. I think something’s jammed up there in the left engine. I wouldn’t try to run it unless you have someone check it out first.”
Guri’s eyes narrowed slightly. “Do not presume to tell me what to do, slave.”
Elena glared. “Hey, I was just suggesting–” And found herself lacking air as Guri grabbed her throat and shoved her against the cruiser, hard. Guri’s iron grip closed tightly around her smaller throat, and she grabbed Guri’s hands, trying to pull them away without trying too hard as to reveal herself. Guri’s beautiful but cold face moved closer to hers.
“If the Prince weren’t so interested in keeping you, I would’ve killed you years ago,” Guri said quietly, her tone icy. “Fortunately for you, you’re not enough of a challenge for me. And the Prince seems to want to keep you for the time being. But tread carefully. Next time I will not be so lenient.” Like a hoverball player tossing a ball, she threw Elena across the hangar and sent her flying to the ground, hitting the hard duracrete floor with a thump.
“Your next job will be to bring food to the prisoners,” Guri informed her as she lay on the floor. “Do not be late.”
Elena winced in pain and glared at Guri as she walked gracefully away, and she suddenly noticed that her right arm had been dislocated in the fall. Glancing quickly at Guri’s back, then around the hangar to make sure no one else was around, she grabbed her arm, set her teeth, and popped the arm back into the shoulder. She let out a sigh and shrugged her shoulders, testing to see if the problem had been fixed. It had. Sighing, she glanced at her hands, slowly curled them into fists, relishing the cracking noises they made, and walked back to the cruiser, leaning down to pick up her rag.
Just another day in the life of a slave at Xizor’s castle.
Well, almost.

That's not very smart, trying to kill a Sith Lord!
I can't wait for more!

Oooohhhh so now Vader knows. The search for the attempted assassin's identity should be very interesting indeed.
You will be all right, young one. Trust in the Force.
WOW - I hope that brings Elena some peace while she is stuck in Xizor's castle.
Great update
