Okay, she meets Padme, feels nervous, is a little scared of her, but... what else happened. You can't leave us there! Come on; what did the kids do to make her so insane?! ANSWER ME!!!
(Normally I don't overblow on simple stuff like this, but I have been listening to a crazy radio DJ from my town and he always uses that line on callers, he's the best. But, as you can see, you have me hooked and I might just have to ask the wife if she wants to go and see this little flick [something that she will tell my friends about and then they will never let me hear the end of it]... or maybe not; I could always just wait unti the DVD, hide it and never tell her... yeah, sounds like a plan.)

Smart woman.
I like the bit about the expression on the face of the chauffer. And the description of Mrs. V. was great -- she sounds so much like I'd expect from Vader's wife!!
I saw the movie a couple weeks ago -- it was really good. I spent the beginning thinking about this fic

I guess I rocked the interview because before I knew it, I was being asked if I wanted the job. Of course, the way Mrs. V. said it, it was pretty much a foregone conclusion. After all, why wouldn’t I want to work for her? There could be no higher calling, at least as she saw it. Makes me wonder if her husband has to kneel and beg before he’s allowed into their nuptial chamber.
No. Probably not. I don’t think he’s ever allowed in there, begging or not. The Ice Princess might mess up her hair.
Looking back, I think the thing that stands out the most is that she never even asked me any of my theories on dealing with children – not that I really had any, but still, it would have been nice to be asked. I might have been able to come up with something brilliant. I’ve done it before. I call it thinking on my feet, my brother calls is pulling something out of my –
Never mind.
Okay, so she offers me the job and a salary that was frankly a little dazzling. I don’t come from a rich family. We’re comfortable. We have everything we need but usually I had to wait for stuff I wanted. And who can’t use some extra credits. I admit, I’ve always been interested in finding out how the other half lives. There’s a saying about being careful what you wish for, and there’s a reason for that.
I realize now that the salary was so high because Mrs. V. was including hazard pay. And well she should! That alone should have made me suspicious. The second thing I should have considered is that if her husband was such a big shot in the Empire, then why were they placing an ad for a nanny? Surely, they would have resources at their disposal that the ordinary beings of the galaxy couldn’t access.
Later, I would find out that they had already blazed a scorching path through those resources and not even a direct order from the Emperor himself could induce anyone to watch their little darlings. So they decided that what they needed was someone young and stupid and incredibly naïve.
In walks yours truly, the answer to their prayers. She must have laughed herself into a stupor once I’d left. I wouldn’t have been surprised to find out she had danced naked around the apartment, sending up shrieks of gratitude to the demons she had bribed to find me.
Do I sound bitter?
I went home, packed my bags (which didn’t take long since I didn’t have much to pack), kissed my mother (who looked worried), gave my father a hug (he was watching a smashball game and probably didn’t even notice I was gone until half-time), and gave my brother a friendly, affectionate punch in the gut.
So I plopped myself in the rancor’s den, happily oblivious to my peril.

Which is exactly what I wanted to demand after teaching 12th grade English this week, so I can sympathize with her.

maybe she should have tried monster.com (just kidding)
great update. I am curious why they didn't ask for any references or about any disciplinary methods. Desperate might just be the word to describe their search.
