Week 1 (09.24.07)

1. Smooth

It is impossible to think that she has departed this life. Like so many others, Princess Leia Organa spent too much of her life fighting, simply because she did not know the meaning of defeat.

Even in her death, they say it was no different. She might have choked out the location of the Rebel base in order to save herself from Vader's crushing grip. Instead, they say that she was as silent as the grave when her throat was finally crushed.

She died fighting, but she has peace now. The features of this warrior are smooth, finally at rest.

2. Rough

Her first thought upon arriving on Coruscant is that she will never fit in. After all, she is a woman whose path has only crossed the stars a handful of times. She knows nothing of high society. Her skills lie in bookkeeping and public relations, but she has no credentials beyond the word of a cruel slave master.

She has nothing to offer but rough hands and a good heart. That is enough to earn her a job at Dex's, where the most common customers wear the homespun robes of Jedi and Shmi can hope for her son to arrive.

3. Dry

This is no place for Jedi, but he has said that too many times to count. It has been some days since the latest of Qui-Gon's projects lost them their ship and their only means of getting off-world. According to the race records, they had been stranded on this Force-forsaken planet by a rock no larger than Obi-Wan's fist, kicked up by the passing pods into the Skywalker boy's engine.

He could say, “I told you so,” but Obi-Wan respects Qui-Gon. He will let his wit be as dry as the sands of Tatooine.

4. Wrinkled

Sola had not asked questions about why she was arriving on Naboo past midnight with her hand wrapped tightly around her “Jedi protector”'s mechanical one. She had not objected when Padme begged her to come to the retreat at the Lake Country the next day.

She had simply scrutinized Padme's somewhat rumpled traveling gown, mussed from too many nights trying to sleep in a cramped civilian transport. After a long moment, without having asked what their business was on Naboo, she fingered the sleeve of the gown with a rueful expression.

“You can't be married in a wrinkled dress.”

5. Weathered

Jedi should not have dreams, but exceptions were the rule in the case of children. This was especially the case with the children of the Widow Skywalker. No one questioned their right to have nightmares, since they had been party to the end stages of the madness that the Jedi called their father's turn to the Dark Side. It made little difference that they were not there when Anakin Skywalker was killed—they did not have to. Still, the only thing that seemed to calm them was the weathered presence of Yoda, one who had faced equal darkness and triumphed.

Awesome idea. I love the possibilities brought on by AUs, and the idea of 100 different possiblities fills me with excitement. I'm jealous of the wealth of creativity you must have to come up with all of these.

Excellent drabbles, Ish. I know your love of Leia, and the first drabble did her great justice. That she died at Vader's hand in ANH is sad as well.

I also enjoyed Shmi coming to Coruscant. there is an equal sadness and hope in this piece.

My favorite though is dry. Anakin lost the race and now Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon, and the rest are stuck on Tatooine. You write younger Obi very well. I love the down low element of humor.

I love the narrative style here. Great Job, Ish!

Terrific drabbles, Ish! applause

I have to say that Smooth was my favorite. Perfectly written; I'm sure that's the way it would've gone if Luke and Han hadn't shown up.

mavjade--Thanks, mav. I've wanted to do an All-AU set for a while and I'm glad they gave me this chance. I'm glad you liked all of htem and Smooth in particular.

Thrawn1786--Thanks. Glad you enjoyed them.

SilSolo--I do, too, which is why I rarely if ever kill her off. Thanks!

Alexis_Wingstar--All I can say is "Thanks"! happy

BigFatty--I liked that one best, personally.

KELIA--Thanks. Glad you liked the revolving POV's. It's very characteristic of me. I liked that idea. Thanks again.

karebear214--Thanks, kare. I hope this lives up to your excitement. I have an abundance of plot bunny AU ideas and some of them get fed into this.

Idrelle_Miocovani--Thanks, Idri! Glad you loved all of them and that Smooth came off as powerful and chilling.

brodiew--Thanks, brodiew. happy I'm glad that did her justice. I think it would have been a good ending for her as well as a rallying point for the Alliance. There is a great deal of sadness and hope for Shmi. I kind of smirked at the idea for Dry. I'm glad you think I write younger Obi well.

MarasFire--Thanks, MF! I'm pretty sure that would have been a plausible ending. Just look at ESB. Glad you enjoyed them.

Week 2 (10.01.07)
6. Jedi

He never expected betrayal to feel this satisfying. Anakin had been raised with strong values and an even more adamant sense of loyalty. His friendship with Chancellor Palpatine had never turned those values against him.

Still, it had been too easy to thrust his blade between the Dark Lord and Jedi Master Windu. Mace had roared like a wounded rancor, denied his prey by the impetuous man that the Force had Chosen. It was not, as he expected, in order to stop the killing blow, but to stop Mace's swing so that Anakin Skywalker could kill his false friend himself.

7.Sith

Leia had thought him dead for a full six months. It was a grievous blow that the Alliance had lost its lone Jedi to the treachery of Lord Vader and the fact that he had been killed on the same day as the brave Captain Solo only made matters worse. She grieved officially with the rest of the Alliance and never confessed her private hatred.

At Endor, she knew a different kind of hatred. She faced the Sith Skywalker who called himself an Imperial Commander and hated herself for being glad when he pulled the trigger that ended it all.

8. Soldier

There were few civilians who got involved in the Clone Wars who did so out of real loyalty rather than the promise of good wages. Most were either mercenaries who craved a more official connection with the Republic or yard kids who wanted to see the Galaxy.

One of the fiercest of the warriors was a man who had held many titles, but contented himself with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel Organa. The man who had refused to fight his battles in the Senate alone saw as many battlefields as the Jedi who had joined the war on similar principles.

9. Civilian

Leia might have blamed any number of people for Han's death. It was the fault of the Imperial gunner who got off too many lucky shots. The Alliance officers ordered the reluctant Rebel into that battle. She could have even blamed the High Command for not having called the battle off when the situation became desperate.

Instead, she blamed herself for the fact that she had not died with him. Six months before, the Alliance had asked her to choose between a civilian role and a military rank and she had been Alderaanian enough to retreat from the battlefields forever.

10. Politician

She never knew the name of the person who retrieved the Death Star plans in her place. Leia only knew that he'd died in interrogation and the plans had come to Alderaan in the hands of General Kenobi. It was not because she did not care, but because she could not afford to know.

The Emperor held no qualms about torturing his own Senators for information. She had been the victim of such an assault on occasion, but as far as the Empire knew, the adamant young woman who led Alderaan's delegation had not inherited her father's unfortunate Rebel sympathies.

Politician!

It was dark, but the narrative voice had impact. That fact that Luke died and Kenobi made it hammered home the drama.

Edit: Civilian was a close second. Leia greif comes through loud and clear.

There is 'smooth'. Wow. Anakin kills Mace only to keep Palps to himself. Sounds like he's still headed to the Dark side.

Your premise for Sith was interesting since it resembles something that will happen soon in one of my 'fics.

Another fantastic job! applause
