I knew it! And now there is but one padawan left to continue...maybe he'll run into some others.

It's never actually stated that he survived... But it's obvious, isn't it?

poor padawan cry all alone

Give him 10 years...

Now he has to escape and become a rebel.

Great update

Thanks, glad you liked it! It was an interesting story to tell, that's for sure.

Your portrayal of Order 66 was really thrilling and I liked the small insight you gave into what the clones were thinking.

I feel that the clones have been somewhat robbed of the Order 66 experience. They've received an order that they can't refuse telling them that the Jedi generals have turned traitor and must be killed. I'm glad that I was able to actually get inside their heads.

Also, kudos for adding the droid deactivation scene and the confusion of Rellin

I wanted to have that as well, as I doubt that many of the Separatists would so easily surrender. Having the implication that Vader force-choked them into submission was something I wanted to see.

Now, I wonder what happened to Jorec...

That's another story that's already been told. I can provide a condensed version to anyone who's curious via PM, however. Just let me know.

The Battle of Selvernos
Epilogue

Empire Day

Commander Hal watched as equipment was moved out of the Republic base, their work done. A new garrison would be built within the next year, inside of the capital city of Gevest. He had been commended on his success on the campaign by the newly crowned Emperor, who had been especially proud—or so he said—of the ease in which the Jedi generals had been killed. He didn’t tell the Emperor of the slight trouble they had with one of the Padawans, for there was no need. The kid had a blaster bolt in the back and fell into a river with carnivorous fish: and that was that. He was still dead.

“Hurry up, we don’t have all day!” he shouted out to the other clones. “Admiral Lekine wants this equipment on the Valorum in three hours!”

Lekine watched as the abandoned Trade Federation Lucrehulk ships burned in the silence of space, the oxygen rapidly burning out as it escaped into the void. The ships had already been boarded by Republic forces and their organic crew arrested or shot when they attempted to fight back, leaving only droids on board. Turbolaser strikes battered the core of the ship, destroying the final ship with a dramatic explosion.

“That’s the last of them,” Admiral Lekine said, stating the obvious. “Does the debris pose any threat to the civilian population?” he asked.

“Looks doubtful, sir,” an officer in the command pit replied. “About 99% of the debris is either going to stay in orbit or burn up in the atmosphere.”

“That’s good to hear,” Lekine said. The change from Republic to Empire had no bearing on him, he thought. Governments came and went, but the need for someone to protect the citizens would always be there. Serving them as an admiral in the Imperial Navy, as it would likely be called, was something that he would do, Lekine thought.

Shavit! Galen Wintlas thought from his quarter on the same ship his stepfather commanded. Complete and utter banthashavit! There was no way, he thought, that the Jedi would ever rebel against the Republic, and there would certainly be no way that they would attempt an assassination as the new Emperor had claimed. He sat in his quarters, lost in thought. One day, perhaps very soon, he would have to make a choice of whether to serve this new Empire or not. For now, however, it would be best to keep his head down.

Gevest went on as usual, some of the population not even blinking an eye to the governmental change. Peaceful protests at the college campus, which had been closed for classes ever since the CIS had first declared martial law, were peacefully put down by city law enforcement. No one knew that if their protest had taken place five years in the future, they would have all been shot or thrown into prison for their protests, and thus went about their normal lives.

Dawn rose for the first time on Selvernos under the Empire, thirty hours after twilight had set on the Jedi order. Rain from a recent storm dropped off the trees, collecting in puddles underneath roots. A small mammal hesitantly stopped for a drink beside a new puddle, quickly evading a predator just seconds later by scurrying up the tree next to it. The disappointed predator slinked away, passing a small cave on its way back to its own lair.

Unseen to the predator and to most human’s eyes, on top of the cave’s entrance was the top of a tan tunic. Quickly and quietly, a human hand belonging to a young teenager snatched the tunic away from the entrance, taking the water-logged piece of clothing inside.

I agree with Earlybird. Also, I liked how you summed this up, with Clones, Galen, and Jedi. Well written, as usual.

Send me PM's if you do a sequel, please.

This asks for a sequel with the Jedi Padawan and Galen Wintlas.

Actually, this was constructed as a kind of prequel for the majority of a fan fic that was all Jorec. I was disatisfied with the way I had covered the Clone Wars section of the story and was resolved to make it its own tale. If you want a link, just PM me.

Great last post

Thanks a lot. I'm glad that you liked it. It was a very fun story to write.

No worries whiskers, I think I know which story you mean and I'll look it up some time peace

Nice epilogue, you rounded the story off nicely. I love how you fill out the details that are only hinted at in the movies, for example, the establishement of Imperial rule on other planets, the transformation within the navy and the destruction of the droid armies. The most striking image of this chapter was the burning droid control ship which you managed to paint vividly. I also like how you touched upon the mindset of the remaining characters and I wonder if we will see a continuation of Gevest and Lekines adventures? applause

All in all, an excellent adventure with great and realistic portrayals of combat in the Clone but also with a human touch, thanks to the presence of Jorec. Not many can pull that off. Good job whiskers! cool
