I've finally caught up with this wonderful story.
There can be no doubt that this is Anakin’s son. I wonder what Shmi would think of him, to see her lost son brought to life in the features of her grandson. She would find joy in that fact, and sorrow. But that is the way of things.
It's sad that Shmi never had the opportunity to meet Luke, she would've definitely spoiled him rotten.
When I walked into the room, however, Luke was sitting there in the middle of it, his chubby fists triumphantly grasping the hydrospanner.
I looked up at the shelf, half-expecting that it would have fallen. Instead, it looked just as it should. Nothing was out of place. Except the hydrospanner was not next to a holo as it had been, but was in Luke’s hands.
I love the mischievious little Luke.
I have a little shadow now, and his name is Luke.
How adorable.
Great updates!

A/N: This update is dedicated to my brand new granddaughter, Madeline Elizabeth. Dear Maddy, I loved you before I knew I loved you. I didn't even know how much I would love you until I held you in my arms and you wrapped me around your delicate litte fingers. When you're old enough, Nana will write you a fairy tale of your own because you'll always be my princess...
To see my BEAUTIFUL granddaughter, you can check out my bio. Honestly, I didn't know how I'd feel about her. It's even more powerful than I suspected. And now I know why my mother cried when she held my oldest son.
Entry #16
Luke Skywalker crawling was cause for concern. Luke Skywalker walking is absolutely terrifying! I thought we would have a while before he got steady enough on his feet to do more than stand on wobbly legs. After all, he doesn’t turn a year old for another two weeks.
Luke, however, had other ideas.
It seems he didn’t want to practice, so today he just looked at me and let go of the table. Then he walked across the room to me and clapped his hands, quite pleased with himself. I was too stunned to do anything for a moment and then I picked him up and told him what a brilliant little boy he was.
He laughed and clapped his hands some more. We had some cookies and milk to celebrate and then he took a nap, quite worn out by the events of the day.
I know how he felt.
Then he woke up, refreshed and ready to try out his new skill again. I was not quite as energetic. He walked everywhere, even attempting the stairs that lead to the courtyard. He cried a bit when I scolded him for that, which just about broke my heart.
And he knew it.
I took him out into the courtyard and let him walk around there. He tried to dig his toes into the sand, but it’s so hard packed that it didn’t work. That also made him cry, so I took him up and let him try his legs in the sand.
The look on his face when he curled his toes into the warm sand was comical. He’s crawled on it before, and he knows what sand feels like. But he got the funniest expression when he stood there.
After a moment, he took one step and then another and before I knew it, he was walking around literally screaming with laughter. I had to keep reminding him to stay close. I also need to make sure the lock to the door leading outside is Luke-proof, which is harder than it sounds.
I let him play outside for a little while. I knew Owen was due home soon and I wanted him to see Luke enjoying his newfound freedom.
When he saw him, Owen laughed in surprise. Then he knelt down in the sand and held out his arms for Luke, who ran right to him. Owen swung him around even though I told him he might make Luke throw up.
Luke didn’t throw up.
Owen carried Luke inside and I happened to look over my shoulder. In the distance, I saw a lone figure. It was too far away to see any details, but I did not have to see his face to know who it was.
I hope Ben finds some small joy in seeing Luke take his first steps.

If you have to choose between tears and laughter, remember that laughter burns more calories. They call me NANA Vader. At least she doesn't lack confidence...

Lovely, first steps and nothing safe anymore for Beru.
And that last "Ben seeing it" great.
Again congrats with your granddaughter.

Great update. I like seeing a loving relationship between Owen and Luke, seeing him enjoy Luke. That is a nice change from how grumpy he got later.
This was heartbreaking:
Owen carried Luke inside and I happened to look over my shoulder. In the distance, I saw a lone figure. It was too far away to see any details, but I did not have to see his face to know who it was.
I hope Ben finds some small joy in seeing Luke take his first steps.
I always feel so sad thinking of poor Obi-Wan all alone out there watching over Luke. I also hope he found some joy in watching from a distance.
Oh, and much congratulations on your new granddaughter!

Awww, such a sweet update!! I loved it!!
I also need to make sure the lock to the door leading outside is Luke-proof, which is harder than it sounds.
I remember when my little sister was a baby, she was into everything, so my parents had to put child-proof locks on cabinets, etc.. -anything in her reach. She figured how to open them almost right away.
Marvelous update!! And congratulations on your new granddaughter!!

Awwww...that was so precious!
There's nothing like the joy of watching your child discover things on their own (as long as they're not getting hurt) and it's great to see Beru and Owen enjoying Luke's first day of walking.
Great update
PS - Congrats on your granddaughter. Now you get to do all the spoiling and none of the disciplining.

When they learn to walk then they grow away from us, step by step. Sniff! Then we have to provide them with roots but also let them try out their new wings of freedom.
What a superb up-date!

I love that Obi-Wan got to see his first steps, too!
Isn't it funny how we can't wait for that first step, and we're so proud. Then we see them bouncing around like pinballs, heading straight for all those stairs, sharp corners, etc. and it's like "uh-oh."
I love that you dedicated this chapter to Madeline. She is absolutely precious, K!

I wonder if his views on sand are similar to his father's.
