Luke is such an extraordinary child. I find myself taking an un-Jedi-like pride in him. Last night, I had a long talk with him after he went to bed. He revealed through his tears that he thought it was his fault Akee fell and hurt himself. It seems Luke had gotten a warning feeling through the Force that the dewback was going to bulk, and he quickly held on. He felt he should have warned Akee, but he didn't know Akee couldn't feel the warning too. I explained to him what he felt was the Force, and that Akee wasn't as strong in the Force as he was so couldn't hear it as well... if at all. He still felt that he should have told Akee to hold on. I think I was finally able to convince him he wasn't to blame for Akee falling, and he fell asleep in my arms.
I held Luke all night. I was... am... so thankful he is safe! I couldn't love him more if he were my own son.
LOVED this! Absolutely perfect!

Awww cute!
Luke not understanding that Akee couldn't feel the warning too was interesting, I hadn't ever thought of that before, but I bet it's something they had to teach the younglings at the Jedi Temple.
Great job on this, and keep up the great work!

Luke is a very giving person, much like his mom and dads (Ben/Obi-wan and Anakin before he turned to the dark side).

It's easy for younglings to assume that everyone sees/feels things the same way. It's a big life's lesson to realize it isn't the case... something even some adults have difficulty coping with.

I always got the impression Beru came from a huge family and is so used to scenes of unruly children that she knows instictively how to deal with them.  That, and she has a naturally patient disposition.
Year 6, Month 4, continued:
Ben commed us just while ago from the hospital. Beru had placed Tomo next to a still unconcious Akee and quietly whispered in his ear that Luke had sent him to look after him. She then turned to talk to Ben and Owen, and not even five minutes later, they were astonished to hear Akee's voice! They turned to see him holding Tomo and talking to him as though nothing had happened. In fact, Akee doesn't remember falling, and was confused as to why he was in the hospital.
Thank the goddess he's going to be okay!

Thank the Force Akee is awake and will be fine. The doctor wants to keep him under observation for another day before considering sending him home, though. Akee woke up not much after Beru had slipped the Tomo doll under his arm. I don't for a second think this was a coincidence. Luke and Akee are brothers in spirit if not blood, and their destinies are bound together.

9 years, 1 month:
Ben and I had to go visit the principal at school today. Luke had gotten into a fight. That's right, a fist fight. It seems another boy, Biggs Darklighter was pulling a girl, Camie Lightroot, by the arm across the playground. She had yelled at him to stop and that he was hurting her. Luke stepped in to try to stop him... by talking at first, but the boy swung at him, and Luke clobbered him in the nose. Then the girl struck Luke, giving him a black eye. That's when a teacher finally saw what was going on and intervened.
Luke kept his head hung in shame as we all spoke. To tell the truth, I'm proud of him for sticking up for Camie, even if she didn't appreciate it. I also don't feel sorry for Biggs whose nose is broken. After all, even though he missed, he was the one who threw the first punch.
I don't condone fighting in general, but when you're trying to talk things out and someone tries to hit you, damn straight you should strike back! Besides, Biggs is four years older than Luke and Camie.
All three have detention for the rest of the week. I guess that's fair, though I don't think Luke did anything wrong... except for failing to block Camie's punch.
Poor Luke. I think he has a crush on her!

Luke tried his hand at negotiations today, and wound up getting some experience in aggressive negotiations. Though I don't necessarily agree with the principal about punishing Luke, who was, after all defending himself and Camie, I do think serving detention with both Camie and Biggs will be a benefit to him. I have a feeling he'll learn an important lesson from this.
