He held her silently until her tears subsided. “Feel better?” he asked lifting her head and tenderly wiping the wetness from her cheeks. “No,” she replied with a shake of her head, “but I know I needed that. 	A/N: Individual replies will be forthcoming Chapter 12 “Master, do you have a minute?” Obi-Wan paused in mid-step, turning slightly as Anakin rushed to catch up with him. Biting back a weary sigh, he sent a silent plea to the Force whatever his former padawan wanted, wouldn’t take too long. His encounter with Siri on top of everything else that had happened had him on the verge of emotional and physical collapse. All he wanted, ‘needed,’ he quietly corrected, was time alone. “Are you feeling okay?” Anakin asked as he reached Obi-Wan’s side. “You look awful.” “Thank you, Anakin, I was hoping you’d notice the extra time and effort I put into my appearance after spending the night in the healer’s ward,” Obi-Wan quipped dryly. “You must not feel too bad,” Anakin replied, the corners of his mouth twitching into a slight smile. “Since your unique sense of humor is still intact.” “I’m fine,” Obi-Wan replied, with a wave of his hand. “Just a bit tired.” “You should rest then -,” “And I will,” Obi-Wan interrupted. “After you told me whatever it is you need to tell me.” Anakin paused. He been waiting for this moment for years and now that it was upon him, he suddenly found himself afraid. Not to mention guilty at hiding something so substantial from the one person he was supposed to be completely honest with. “Anakin.” Sensing the abrupt change in his padawan’s mood, Obi-Wan reached out to squeeze his shoulder reassuringly. “I…I…I don’t know where to start,” Anakin began with a shaky laugh. “I’ve imagined having this conversation so many times and now…,” his words trailed off as he gazed into the distance. “I need to start by saying I’m sorry,” he finally began after a moment of silence. Obi-Wan’s gazed at him solemnly. “I’m sorry for lying to you, for sneaking around, for not being grateful to be your padawan and…and for failing as a Jedi.” Obi-Wan’s eyes widened in surprise. “Anakin, you have not failed -,” “Yes, I have,” Anakin’s shoulders slumped. “I broke every rule -,” “No,” Obi-Wan held up his hand to ward off another interruption. “Being a Jedi is not just about following rules.” He smiled sadly as Qui-Gon’s image flashed before his eyes. “It’s about sacrifice, devotion to keeping peace and justice in the Galaxy and public service. Despite your…weakness in one area, you’ve accomplished the rest and done very well,” he paused as Anakin’s head snapped up in surprise. “I’m proud of you, Anakin.” “I…I….I don’t deserve -,” “That doesn’t change anything,” Obi-Wan insisted. “You are a great Jedi, Anakin. You’ve saved all of our lives and the Order itself. What more can you possibly expect of yourself?” “I’m married, Master, and I lied about it.” “Yes, there’s that,” Obi-Wan sighed. “I won’t pretend it didn’t hurt me to find out about the extent of your relationship with Padmé. I should have put an end to it before things got out of hand.” Anakin gasped with surprise. “It’s not your fault, Obi-wan,” he stated firmly. “If we couldn’t control our feelings for each other, you certainly couldn’t have.” “A good Master teaches his padawan to control his feelings,” Obi-Wan pointed out. “That is where I failed.” “You did the best you could,” Anakin persisted. “But Padmé and I…our love is bigger than both of us. I believe the Force destined us to be together.” “You are still a creature of free will,” Obi-Wan replied. “And when you agreed to join the Order, you also agreed to abide by our code -,” “Then the code needs to be changed,” Anakin interjected hotly. “You said yourself, my “weakness” in one area didn’t get in the way of fulfilling my duties as a Jedi.” Obi-Wan gazed at him silently. “You’re right,” he finally admitted. “It didn’t but I still think you should have abided by the code and tried to change it instead of breaking it.” “Sure, Master,” Anakin nodded with an amused smile. “The Council was always eager to hear my opinions on a four thousand year old code.” Obi-Wan chuckled. “Perhaps they will now, which would be good for you and Siri,” Anakin nodded, playfully jabbing Obi-Wan in the ribs. “I beg your pardon?” “Oh come on, Obi-Wan, you didn’t think you could hide your feelings for Master Tachi from me, did you?” Obi-Wan bit back a curse. ‘How could his insolent padawan possibly know anything about his relationship with Siri?’ “For your information, Siri and I have been friends since we were children and that’s all there is to it.” “Really?” Anakin raised a single eyebrow before continuing. “So you’re saying you go around passionately kissing all your friends?” Obi-Wan’s cheeks flushed a bright red. “Wha…what?” “I wasn’t spying on you,” Anakin declared. “I promise. But when I couldn’t find you inside, I went looking and…and…,” he paused, suddenly feeling embarrassed. “And…there you were.” ‘Oh Force!' Obi-Wan closed his eyes in horror. As if losing control in front of Siri wasn’t bad enough, now Anakin knew. “I…it…I…it was just…ah…I…,” “It’s nothing to be ashamed of, Master,” Anakin said firmly. “I’m not ashamed -,” “I don’t even blame you,” Anakin continued with a smirk. “Siri’s hot.” “Anakin!” “If fact, if it weren’t for Padmé, I might even -,” “ANAKIN!” “Sorry, Master,” Anakin laughed. “I couldn’t resist.” “You should have more respect for your superiors,” Obi-Wan sniffed, biting back a smile. “I do,” Anakin replied in a soft tone. “Which is why I hope that code gets changed. You deserve to be happy.” “I am happy -,” “You would be happier being able to have a relationship with Siri,” Anakin pointed out. “Not all of us want to have -,” “No,” Anakin agreed, “but you do, whether you’re willing to admit it or not.” Obi-Wan was silent. Though he’d never allowed himself to dream of an actual relationship with Siri, he couldn’t deny Anakin’s words. Deep, deep down inside, he did want more than friendship with her. “Regardless of my feelings for Master Tachi, we have more pressing matters to deal with,” Obi-Wan finally stated. “Master -,” “We have a base to finishing establishing, an Order to rebuild and an Empire to destroy,” Obi-Wan continued, ignoring the interruption. “That’s enough for right now." ~TBC~

	Goodness! If Obi-Wan would only learn how to multi-task, he might be able to fit Siri in amongst all those other things that need "doing." Great chapter! I did not intend to find myself reading the entire thing in one sitting! Thank you! And we're so happy you found and enjoyed this story thus far. This is an awesome story! I've always had a soft spot for "good Anakin" stories where he didn't turn and was around to raise his children. (At least I hope that's true for this story since we haven't gotten there yet.) I'm glad that his and Padme's secret is finally out in the open...though I really wish that troublemaking Jedi (of course his name eludes me right when I need it) would learn to shut his mouth. We have a soft spot for 'good' Anakin stories, so when we decided to write this one he WAS going to be good. Even though I've never been much of a Siri-Wan shipper, I'm enjoying that aspect of the story too. It proves that Anakin isn't the only Jedi to walk the line of the Code, and I'm sure if the others would get off their self-righteous high-horses, they would realize that.
