What the...Sidious is here in this world?! 
Uh-oh looks like Anakin and Padme will have their plates full by dealing with Sidious all over again. 
I also loved the scene when Anakin meets with Lyonides and all the other councillors as it goes to show how much he's changed in the last 20 years.

Oooohhh that was Palpatine/Sidious to perfection
I can only hope Anakin won't fall into his clutches this time around.
I loved the interaction with Anakin and Padme. It's sad to see her point out his mistakes from before (the whole treason thing) but understandable.
I hope he can earn her trust.

Beautifully written, as always. And now the plot gets more complicated. I like it! 
“He’s very handsome isn’t he?”
The question jolted Padmé. Her first thought was an acknowledgement. He’d always been beautiful. She was careful to keep her voice too low to carry. “Yes, I suppose he is.”
Laid flat on a hoverstretcher and pumped full of painkillers, Oboné was too blissed out to worry about anybody overhearing. “Oh, hush! Suppose. Bah!”
Loved that bit.

Wow, this is amazing.
This purgatory world is as richly imagined as certain other middle earths I might remember. Love the trope of water surface/mirror being the gate between worlds.
The theme of meeting the same challenges and having the chance to do it differently is developing into a very engrossing story.
And uber-bad-guy Palpatine has now made his entrance.
Will Anakin have the support of others besides Padme? (I know she's not there yet, but eventually.) Anyway, I hope so. People like those he's met already (Sal, Lorne, Jude, Obone), and what about re-appearances by Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon, and Shmi --- and Mace and Yoda for that matter. Ani can't go back and change the past, but will he have a chance to make peace with all the ones who mattered to him while he was alive? Again, I hope so.
I'm also really enjoying your use of language throughout.
Looking forward to next post.

Wha?? Palpy is back and with a vengeance..oh no!!! I hope he doesn't muck up Vader/Anakin and Padme's already fragile relationship?!?! Vaderkin seems to finally see past some of the political lies(maybe he did pick up some smarts as Vader?)
...however worried about Palpy also targeting Padme as well..
hope you can post more soon! any chance we get Vaderkin's POV in the upcoming chapter? or even more A/P interaction?

I’m so sorry the next chapter is taking so long and I haven’t replied. I was actually planning to get these responses up last night, but I was hit by a headache—the kind were you have to cover one eye because it feels like someone stuck a skewer in the back of it. *groan* Anyway, chapter 7 should be up in a few days, but I felt it’d left it long enough without replying to you.
Anakins_Kiss – “You know enough. I owned Anakin Skywalker’s soul in life and I want it in death too.” The malevolence in that statement sent an icy skitter down Lyonides’ spine. “Only together will we both prevail.”

WHY WHY WHY!!!!! *sighs* well, I guess we'll just have to wait and see what Anakin and Padme make of this whole thing. I'm sooo proud of Anakin though. He really delivered an impressive performance out there and impressed even Padme. That was what was most important. Great post as always. JediMasterRev - Even in retrospect, Padmé’s heart clenched. It had been an oddly compelling scene: the tall, powerful young man and the tiny, wizened old scrap of a woman. Even the Anakin of old, before Vader, wouldn’t have noticed such as Tenku—seeing her as neither threat nor ally. He had always been so focussed on goals that the little things had passed him by. Not so now, it seemed. She didn’t have a clue how to interpret that, so zeroed in on the question uppermost in her mind. What could they possibly have in common? Blankly bemused all over again, Padmé could only wonder how the two had met, and what Tenku had done to earn Anakin’s gratitude.
I think this paragraph absolutely nails down your characterization of Anakin perfectly.
Since the release of RotS, I've read several 'afterlife' fics with Anakin and Padme. They generally fell into one of two categories. Either they are mush filled, ignoring what happened in their actual lives. Or, they are so angsty with no chance of redemption for Anakin/Vader. What I've enjoyed so much with your story is that you've found a happy medium and there is ample opportunity for character development and potential growth. I honestly think this is shear brilliance, both in the concept and your writing abilities.
I really like the introspection from Padme as she is trying to figure out who this person is. I think the internal battle she is waging is a difficult one because she is having to fight her own natural tendencies to trust him. Hard to trust somebody you fear.
Found the last segment quite fascinating. Lyonides seems to have already made a deal with the 'devil.' This segment reminded me of the 1st Harry Potter book where Voldemort was a parasite to Querrel, making his plots and schemes, but his powers were not great quite yet. Still, this turn of events doesn't bode to well for Anakin and company.

I must admit being new to the fandom I haven’t read a lot of fic (something I’m attempting to rectify as well as write), so I wouldn’t know about other afterlife fics. Still it’s a rich topic and makes sense when you consider the amended scene in ROTJ which gave me the inspiration for this story. *g*
I agree about Padme and the struggle between love and fear; which her experiences with Anakin have made go hand-in-hand. I’ll try and do justice to the opportunities for angst and character development (at which point my knees start knocking, lol)
Y’know, I hadn’t considered the similarities between Lyonides/Palpatine and Voldemort/Quirrel but I see what you mean (and I’m a HUGE fan of the HP books).

I can't wait for the next chapter. What if Anakin comes across one of the children that he killed? I know, I know children are innocent and should move on, but I think staying and moving on is about choice, what if the child decided he (or she) didn't want to move on just yet? That would be a very moving scene, especially if we see the child is still terrified of him and Anakin is hit with even more pain of the interaction.
