I really loved this story. It was so beautiful and touching. The way he remembered her and touched his life is so heartwarming. I especially love the end when he draws her portrait, says a prayer and thinks of the Republic rising from the ashes. 
And we so often see Palo as the villain that it is refreshing and inspiring to see him as a good person and a good friend.
