	I know I said this already, but uh... Wow. Whoa and wow. Wow and whoa. See how articulate I am late at night? This was amazing. The ending was perfect. And Leia, you bad, bad girl! I wonder how long it will be before Luke learns of his paternity... He loved her, and you didn’t hurt the people you loved. Well, at least that's encouraging... somewhat. 	Replies! And then a big honking author's note at the end! Bri!! - And you even edited your reply in on my birthday! So I sat down last night and read it all in one fell swoop and I have to say that it's even better now upon completion than it was oh so long ago as a wee plot idea for a challenge. --I'd almost forgotten that we talked about that when you were here! I remember I was so excited to be discussing one of my fic ideas face-to-face with someone who not only cared, but was possibly more excited by the idea than I was! I'm just so impressed with how so many "canonly" unrelated events and settings were woven together so seamlessly and effortlessly. It's so dark and twisted and keeps everyone, characters and readers, constantly on their toes and guessing and second guessing everything that comes to them. --I knew all that work with cliffies and plot twists would pay off someday. I still can't believe how the plot bunny just took hold and developed a mind of its own. I couldn't have imagined I'd come up with a crazy, dark story like this. It still surprises me. I loooove Leia in this. SO calculating and cold. Truly her father's daughter in this instance. --Me too! OMG, I have so absolutely loved writing Leia in this story. I get to show the raw Force potential she inherited from Anakin, along with a mixture of Anakin's cunning and Padmé's shrewd political sense. But the whole planning revenge against Palpy thing... SO Vader. And while Luke's infatuation with Mara is the drive of this story, there's so much more and it ultimately gets him in way over his head. --I knew right away that this story couldn't just be about Mara and Luke. I mean, fics about those two are all well and good, (especially when written by someone who really gets them,) but the wider conflict between Leia and Luke, between the Sith and the adepts and the Hands, even the hidden conflict between Palpatine and Vader and Leia... all of that just had to be told. Luke's love for Mara is the driving force for his actions, but he's a broken person with a history that mostly doesn't include Mara, and that can't be ignored. For most of his life the only girl he's really had contact with is Leia, and that's obviously been a twisted relationship. He thinks he loves Mara and hates Leia... but does he really? These are some of the dark, confused issues I'll be exploring in the sequel. I love the cliff hanger that we're left with and I demand news on the sequel immediately. --I love cliffies, what can I say? And as soon as I can get all my shiz together on this sequel, you can bet I'll be sending you a PM. Kudos, Vi. Major, major kudos. I love this story to bits and pieces. --Almost as much as you love me, right? But seriously, I'm so glad you liked it! I'm still in shock that I actually finished something longer than a vignette. THE_EVIL_CLIFFIE - Vrillint twist on TESB. Wonder how the other adepts are giong to react? Awsome plot twist. --Hehe, thanks! I can promise that the reactions of the other adepts will be shown in the sequel. Some of it may come as a surprise... or maybe not. I like to be ambiguous at this point. And as for Yoda and Mara... it will be interesting for sure. Definitely got to read sequel to know what's going on. Loved it...not much of an ending though, more like a REALLY BIG clifee....well, ways of the writer! --Yeah, the ending was definitely supposed to have some shades of ESB. The abrupt ending just seemed right, although you're probably glad I said there'd be a sequel. Otherwise the ending might have made less sense. Great job though! Hopefully it will be just as crazy as this little story was! Author's Note As most of you probably know by now, there will be a sequel to Veil of Shadows, which I’m sure will make many of you happy. The ending of this story was meant to be kind of like the end of ESB – a major cliffie and very little time to process it before the whole thing is over. So worry not, there will be more story! The next one will feature more Leia, more Vader, and just more stuff in general! (And it will probably become sort of epic, because this plot bunny refuses to stop breeding.) It will probably be several months before I am ready to start posting the sequel. My classes started last week, and I will be heavily involved with swimming until the end of February, so that limits my writing time. But I will be working on it, and once I have a significant amount done, I will send it off to my beta and begin posting. Be on the lookout for the sequel sometime next spring, most likely. I may post a teaser trailer or make an announcement in this thread when the new fic begins, that way you all know what to look for. 	*ANNOUNCEMENT: Veil of Shadows* Sequel in the works** That's right, folks! The sequel to Veil of Shadows is currently being written, and I hope to have it ready for posting by June. Timeframe: OT, 4 years after Veil of Shadows Characters: Leia Organa, Mara Jade, Luke Starkiller, Darth Vader, Yoda & more Genre: AU, drama, angst, romance Summary: Four years after Darth Vader and Leia Organa murdered Emperor Palpatine and took control of the Empire, former Sith Adept Luke Starkiller has become a terrorist on the run, while Mara Jade and her child are in hiding on Dagobah, training under Jedi Master Yoda. ~~ Leia splashed water against her face and toweled it off, ignoring the beep of the comm unit in the next room. She knew it wasn’t her father; he had other methods of contact. Whoever it was, they could wait. She would never admit it to anyone, but the hunt for Starkiller and Brie was beginning to wear on her. She wasn’t sure if it was the chase itself or if it was the object of her pursuit. Either way, she couldn’t do it forever. Leia set the towel aside and looked into the mirror. The woman staring back at her was pale, tired, with dark circles under her eyes. A spider’s web of thin, shiny scars covered the right side of her neck and part of her jaw. Left side, Leia mentally corrected, touching her fingers to the scars that still hadn’t faded, even after four years. It didn’t bother her like it probably should have. In fact, for several months after that battle, she had worn the marks from Palpatine’s Force lightning with pride, with joy even. They were a symbol of her freedom. As the months turned to years and the scars retained their strange silvery sheen, she had come to accept them. Over the last few years, though, as the galaxy continued to struggle against criminals, the resurgent Rebellion, and a vengeful former Sith Adept, she no longer felt that joy. The scars were just that – scars. They were a part of her, and there was nothing she could do to change it.
