Summary: This story is an AU of Revenge of the Sith where everything happens a bit different after Dooku's death.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Prologue:
Shortly before the Battle of Coruscant:
“General Grievous, is everything ready for your attack?” asked the holographic image of Darth Sidious in the command tower of the ‘Invisible Hand’.
“Yes, my lord.” answered Grievous. “All the ships are prepared for battle.”
“Then proceed, General.” instructed Sidious him. After a few seconds pause he added. ”And when the Jedi come to the rescue of our dear Chancellor, make shure that they’ll be held securely, General. Am I understood? “
“Yes, of course, my lord. May I be so bold to ask who the Jedi will send? “
“Oh, they will send Skywalker and Kenobi. “
“Kenobi and Skywalker! “ The words came out as a hiss.
“Yes, General.” Darth Sidious’ voice grew even cooler, if possible, and even the fearless cyborg Grievous flinched a bit.
“You remember our last conversation about the information we need?” the dark figure continued and smiled coldly. “Kenobi would be the perfect one to ask.”
“But Kenobi would never willingly give away these information, my lord. “ Grievous objected.
“Then he’ll need a bit of gentle persuasion, don’t you think? “
Grievous’ chuckle ended quickly in a cough. “It will be done my lord.”
“Very well, then. Begin your attack, General.” And with that the hologram disappeared.

Chapter 1: Failed Rescue
On the Invisible Hand:
Two Jedi ran down a hallway, closely followed by an elder man in a costly, although slightly rumbled, robe. The older Jedi, with a short beard, ginger hair and piercing cerulean eyes, was Obi-Wan Kenobi, the famed General and Master on the Jedi High Council. Beside him was, as always, Kenobi’s former apprentice and now Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, the hero and poster boy of the Clone Wars. And the elderly man was of course Chancellor Palpatine, the leader of the Galactic Senate.
Suddenly Anakin and Obi-Wan skidded to a halt, causing Palpatine to bump into Obi-Wan, as a shimmering shield of light appeared all around them.
“Ray-shields.” said Anakin, a hint of frustration evident in his voice.
Obi-Wan wasn’t pleased, either. “Wait a moment. How could this happen? We’re smarter than this.”
“Apparently not, “answered Anakin, “Besides I only tried to keep up with you and when I told you to take the other corridor, you just snapped at me to leave the navigation to you.”
Obi-Wan crossed his arms over his chest, looking offended. “So this is all my fault now? “
“Well, you did manage to lead us into the oldest trap in the book.” answered Anakin smirking.
“If you’d led this party, we wouldn’t have managed to get half as far as we are now, if I might remind you of Rasol 5.”
Anakin winced. “That was an accident and can you please stop bringing that one up every time we’re disagreeing over the way? “
“But you did manage to lead us into the garbage pit instead of the command tower.” Obi-Wan shot back.
“I’ve told you at least a hundred times already that it wasn’t the garbage pit, but the recycling room.” Anakin defended himself blushing.
“Okay, okay then it was the recycling room, but what about Dathomir or Ne….”
But before he could end his monolog, he was cut short by Palpatine who had grown tired of their endless banter. “This is all very interesting, but couldn’t you try to find a way out of here? “
Obi-Wan looked around. “Ähm, I’m open to suggestions.”
To everyone’s surprise Anakin spoke up. “I say patience.” Obi-Wan and Palpatine both gaped at him.
“Patience? “ Obi-Wan inquired in a tone of voice that suggested that he thought he’d heard wrong.
“Yes, patience,” Anakin replied, “we wait here until Artoo comes and deactivates the ray-shields.”
In the same moment Artoo teared around a corner and crashed into the opposite wall.
“See, no problem.” Anakin said smugly, as Artoo beeped confused. But directly after he had finished his sentence, Battle Droids, Super Battle Droids and Droidekas appeared all around them.
“That depends on what you think is a problem, Anakin.” commented Obi-Wan drily.
“Well, I have to admit that this is disturbingly close to being a very big problem. “ Anakin said.
“Do you have a plan B, too? “asked Obi-Wan Anakin.
Anakin rolled his eyes. “I already made plan A so it’s your time now.”
Meanwhile the ray-shields had been deactivated and three droids came forward and cuffed their hands, whilst the others still pointed their weapons at the captives. Anakin and Obi-Wan didn’t resist, for the droids were simply too many.
“Force-surpressors.” ordered one of the droid commanders in his mechanical voice.
“Oh, sithspit.” murmured Obi-Wan quietly. Anakin raised an eyebrow. “ What was that, Master? “
“Ähm, nothing.” Obi-Wan replied, whilst a needle injected the force-surpressors into his arm. Anakin received the same treatment.
“Considering the situation, I would think plan B will be: survive.” Obi-Wan said
“Sounds like a good plan to me.” Anakin answered as they were dragged down the corridor in the direction of the bridge.

Force Suppressors?

You mean Ysalimari?

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Ysalamir

Good story!
Just one suggestion: When a new character speaks, you should start a a new a paragraph.

Like so:

Makes it easier to read and enjoy.

Good story! You write Kenobi/Skywalker a lot better than the writers of the Clone Wars TV show.

If you are keeping a PM list, put me on it.

Actually I don't mean Ysalimari, but some kind of drug(I think something like that was mentioned once, but I don't remember what it's called blush )
I'll try to start new paragraphs when a new character speaks as you suggested (it was only that way because my typing programm is complete ****)

Here is the next post:

Chapter 2: Captured
On the Bridge of the Invisible Hand:

As Obi-Wan, Anakin, Artoo and the Chancellor arrived on the bridge with their captors, the Invisible Hand was in the midst of a heavy battle against a big republic cruiser. The commander of the republic ship, Lieutenant Lorth Needa, contacted General Grievous.
“We offer you a chance to surrender, General, but if you refuse we’ll continue to destroy your ship.”
“Oh, I don’t think that you would want to destroy a ship with two important Jedi and the Supreme Chancellor on board, who are my prisoners at the moment.” replied the General.
Needa didn’t look convinced. “I won’t believe that they’re your prisoners unless you proof that you don’t bluff.”
“If you insist.” Grievous said and ordered the Jedi’s guards to lead them them before the hologram. Commander Needa’s eyes widened as he saw Kenobi, Skywalker and the Chancellor all with their hands cuffed behind their backs and surrounded by guards.
“In that case we’ll cease fire and retreat.” Needa said and cut off the transmission to inform the Jedi Council of the critical situation and await his next orders.
Grievous snorted in satisfaction and turned towards Obi-Wan and Anakin.
“Ah, the Negotiator, General Kenobi, and the Hero without Fear, Anakin Skywalker,” he said, We’ve been waiting for you.” The droid commander stepped forward and gave Grievous both Obi-Wan’s and Anakin’s lightsabers.
“Your lightsabers will make a fine addition to my collection.” Without the Force and their lightsabers Obi-wan and Anakin could just watch as Grievous put their weapons into his cape, even if Anakin had a hard time in controlling his temper.
“Might I inquire why you’ve been waiting for us Grievous?” Obi-Wan asked politely and shot Anakin a `control your rage it won’t help here` look. Anakin glared at him, but managed to relax a bit knowing that Obi-Wan was right, as always.
“Well, the separatists have a few questions and I thought such important Jedi like you are would know the answers.” At these words Anakin tensed up again, but this time Obi-Wan didn’t object for he knew himself that that wasn’t good. Anakin, even without the Force, could tell by the look on Obi-Wan’s face that he just thought his customary `Oh I’ve a bad feeling about this` and had to restrain himself from smiling at the thought.
“We won’t give you any information Grievous. You should’ve known that.” Obi-Wan said grimly.
“Right.” Anakin agreed.
But Grievous just laughed. “I would’ve been disappointed if you hadn’t said that General Kenobi. I’m sure I’ll find means to persuade you otherwise. Commander, bring Kenobi to Interrogation Cell 1. Take the others to the cells next to it.”
“Yes, sir.” came the droids mechanic reply. Obi-Wan and Anakin both knew that they were in for it now and Anakin was especially afraid for Obi-Wan because he was the only one sent into an Interrogation Cell.
“Don’t you dare to harm him Grievous.” he cried as they were dragged out of the room.
“You’re not in the position to make any demands Skywalker.” said Grievous smugly, enjoying Anakin’s fear. Still Anakin opened his mouth to argue, but Obi-Wan cut him off.
“Drop it Anakin. I’ll be alright.” Although he wasn’t convinced Anakin shut his mouth and before they were separated and thrown into different cells, they looked each other in the eyes in a farewell they both knew could be the last and both of them could read love and caring for the other in azure and cerulean eyes.

Chapter 3: Interrogation

On Coruscant, Jedi Temple:

Master Yoda sat in his meditation chamber and waited for Mace Windu to arrive. Two minutes later, Mace hurried through the door and sat down cross-legged.
“You wanted to speak with me, Master Yoda?”
“Yes,” Yoda sighed, “Just now a message from Commander Needa we got. Captured by Grievous Anakin and Obi-Wan were.”
Mace was shocked. “Is there any way to help them?”
“Stop the attack on Grievous’ ship Commander Needa had to. No chance of helping them we have. On their own they’re.” Yoda stated sadly.
“The people would panic if this came out. We have to keep this to ourselves.” Mace observed grimly.
“Right you are.” Yoda agreed.
“I just hope Obi-Wan and Anakin are alright.” Mace said for they were not only important for the war, but Mace’s friends, too.
**************************************************************************

Cells on the Invisible Hand:

After Obi-Wan had been dragged roughly into his cell, the guards had chained him to the wall with his hands over his head and left, giving him time to examine his surroundings. What he saw wasn’t exactly reassuring. The whole cell was stuffed with torture tools like whips or various knifes and other things which uses he didn’t even want to think about. Obi-Wan sighed mentally. He had a feeling that this would end kind of messy. His thoughts were interrupted when the door opened and Grievous stalked in alone. The fact that he was alone told Obi-Wan that he obviously didn’t think him to be a danger and he had to admit to himself that Grievous was probably right there.
“This is the last chance for you to speak, Kenobi. Or you’ll experience pain. Your choice.” Grievous said and if an alien cyborg could’ve gloated, he would’ve surely done it.
“Oh yeah and if I told you everything you wanted to know you would certainly let us all go unharmed, wouldn’t you Grievous?” Obi-Wan said sarcastically.
“I take that as a `no`.” Grievous told him calmly and without warning he hit square in the face with one of hi durasteel fists. Obi-Wan groaned in pain as his greatly damaged nose started to bleed heavily.
“I won’t tell you anything Grievous.” Obi-Wan spat at him with steely determination in his voice.
“We’ll see.” was the Generals only reply. Then he turned around and activated a torture droid. Obi-Wan’s eyes widened in fear, but he quickly controlled the emotion as the droid floated towards him.
**************************************************************************

Anakin had been thrown into the cell next to Obi-Wan’s, but he’d been left alone after that. He’d used the time to investigate his cell, but in fact there wasn’t much to investigate at all. His cell was a square room without any furniture and the only real highlight was the door which was securely locked. He’d just finished his investigation, when he heard voices outside. Quickly he pressed his ear against the cold metal.
“Why isn’t he preparing to torture the boy, too? Maybe that would save time.” said one voice which clearly belonged to a Neimodianer.
“He said he’d gotten orders to leave the boy unharmed.” answered the voice of another Neimodianer from a distance farther away and Anakin realized that they were moving down the hallway.
After that there was only silence. Anakin pondered what he’d overheard. Why was he to be left unharmed and Obi-Wan not, but he couldn’t find an answer and without anything else to do he decided to try to meditate. He’d just succeeded in doing so, when he heard the first scream. In an instant he was on his feet, trying to grab his lightsaber only to remember that his lightsaber was gone and to be reminded that his hands were cuffed. For a moment he stood in the middle of his cell alert and listening. Then a second scream echoed through his cell and a third and a forth. With a sinking feeling in his heart he recognized the voice. It was Obi-Wan’s. As the screams went on and on Anakin sank to the floor and desperately wanted to clap his hands over his ears to shut the sound out, but couldn’t because of the handcuffs. But even more desperately he wanted to help Obi-Wan, his friend and mentor. It tore his heart just to sit there damned to helplessness, whilst the person he cared second-to-most for in the galaxy was being tortured.
**************************************************************************

Obi-Wan’s whole body felt as if it was on fire. His throat was already raw from screaming and still it went on and on, the drug he’d been injected preventing him from blacking out. It seemed to go on forever, but suddenly it stopped. Through a red haze Obi-Wan dimly saw Grievous bent over him.
“Are you willing to talk now?” Grievous asked obviously enjoying his agony.
“Never,” Obi-Wan gasped, “I would sooner die.”
Grievous face twisted in fury.
“Then you’ll pay the prize.” he hissed and continued torturing Obi-Wan, this time with various other tools until his’ body was covered in bruises, cuts, whip marks and blood. The pain grew unbearable until he finally blacked out. Grievous hissed in disappointment, but left the cell after making sure that Obi-Wan was really unconscious.
**************************************************************************

Anakin was worried out of his mind for his Master and was relieved when he heard grievous leave Obi-wan’s cell. It was silent for half an hour, but then he heard some beeping and tootling coming from directly in front of his door. Suddenly the door opened and an Artoo unit rolled in, whistling happily.
“Artoo?”

Chapter 4: Grievous

Coruscant, Jedi Temple:

The Jedi council was in session, discussing the further battle plan.

“We have to give out the order to continue the attack on Grievous’ ship. It’s the only way to win this battle.” Saesee Tiin said.

“With the Supreme Chancellor, Master Kenobi and Knight Skywalker on board?” Kit Fisto asked doubting.

“It’s our only chance to prevent an invasion of Coruscant. If the flagship is destroyed, the Separatists will flee.” Eeth Koth reminded them all.

This seems to be the only conclusion of the situation.” Mace Windu admitted reluctantly. He didn’t like the idea purposely killing Obi-Wan and Anakin with the ship not one bit, but he knew it was necessary.

“Then decided it is.” Master Yoda announced sadly. “Contact Commander Needa we must.”
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Cells on the Invisible Hand:

Slowly Obi-wan came around again and instantly regretted it for once he could feel his body again, the pain came rushing back and threatened to overwhelm him. He had to use all his self-discipline to keep himself from screaming.

“Not exactly the situation you want to wake up in.” he thought dryly. Out of habit he tried to reach the Force and was surprised when he actually felt it. He tried to use it, but it was still too elusive and slipped from his grasp. He sighed. He would have to wait until his access to the Force was stronger and hoped that nobody drugged him anew before that.

Some time later he was still pondering the situation and his connection to the Force was growing continually stronger, when he heard movement in front of his door. He tensed up, expecting Grievous to come through the opening door and was astonished when Anakin and Artoo entered instead. Anakin froze in the doorway as he caught sight of Obi-wan. Anger and fear rose in him because Obi-Wan was, and there was no better word for it, a complete mess. With a cry Anakin jumped forward, grabbed a vibroblade Grievous had used earlier and cut through Obi-Wan’s bonds. Without anything to hold him in place, Obi-Wan collapsed onto the floor.

“Master, are you alright?” Anakin asked, concern winning over his rage.

“Well you know, I’m feeling just well after having been tortured for who knows how long.” Obi-Wan replied sarcastically. And Anakin was relieved that he hadn’t lost his dry humor for the day that happened, he would be really worried.

“Master, we have got to get out of here. Can you walk?” Instead of answering, Obi-Wan tried to stand up rather shakily. Anakin took his arm, steadying him.

“Thanks.” Obi-Wan gasped and groaned as he made a wrong movement which caused bolts
of pain sizzling through his side.

“Do you have any idea of how to get out of here? Or is it just the usual getting free and boxing out?” Obi-Wan wanted to know.

“Well, the latter sounds like a good description of my plan so far,” Anakin admitted a bit sheepishly, “But don’t worry. My ability to use the Force has fully returned. Ah that reminds me….” Anakin reached for the Force and sent a bit of healing Force to his friend. After that Obi-Wan was able to stand without help.

“Well, if it’s your normal plan, we should better get going.” he advised just as the door opened again and Grievous stepped in.

For a few seconds all three stood unmoving and looked at each other in surprise. Then all exploded into movement the same moment. Obi-wan dived for the tables with the knives, but Grievous stepped in the way before he could reach it. Anakin however used the Force to call his and Obi-Wan’s lightsabers to him, preparing to attack Grievous with two blades at once.

Noticing the threat Grievous punched Obi-Wan, sending him crashing into the wall where he slid down and crumbled in a heap on the ground. Meanwhile Grievous ignited his own four
sabers and attacked Anakin in a whirlwind of blades. Anakin was hard pressed to defend himself from the onslaught. Anakin jumped, twisted and used all his tricks, but he only managed to cut off one of Grievous’ four hands. The lighsaber the hand had held, clattered to the ground and rolled towards Obi-Wan, who had unnoticed by both Anakin and Grievous recovered enough to stand up without collapsing again at once. As he stood up Obi-Wan saw this: Anakin ducked under a swing, blocked the second lightsaber, but was to late to stop the third one from cutting lightly into his left arm. With a cry Anakin dropped his lightsaber and tried to defend himself with Obi-Wan’s, but injured and with only one lightsaber he had no chance against Grievous’ three remaining ones. Just as Grievous sent his last lightsaber flying, he
suddenly stiffened, a green blade driven straight through his chest. Grievous let out a last anguished howl and fell to the ground dead, revealing a pale and sweaty Obi-Wan standing behind him a lightsaber in his right hand, the left hand clutching his side.

At that moment the ship suddenly began to rock, causing Obi-Wan and Anakin to fall to the ground.

“What was that?” Anakin asked worried.

“Sounds like we’re under attack.” Obi-Wan replied groaning with pain as he struggled to get up. Just as he had managed that, the ship made a sidden lurch and plunged head first in the direction of the planet.

“Anakin you have to get to the bridge and contact the republic cruiser that’s targeting us or we’ll be both dead. Besides you could land this hulk then.” Obi-Wan cried as he grabbed for a handhold to keep himself from falling down again.

“I won’t leave you Master. You’re in no condition to fight.” Anakin cried back.

“We don’t have time to argue about that now Anakin. You have to go alone. You know that I wouldn’t make it to the bridge nearly in time to save enough of the ship to keep it from plunging down. I’ll try to get the Chancellor out of his cell and to the bridge.” Obi-Wan said.

Anakin still didn’t want to leave him, but he had no choice.

“Be careful Master.” he pleaded.

“That’s exactly what I intended to do Anakin. I’ve had enough of being thrown into walls for the day.” Obi-Wan joked weakly and Anakin left through the door. Obi-Wan picked up his lighsaber and followed him in a considerably slower pace for he felt that his strength was fading fast.

He reached the door of the Chancellor’s cell and began cutting trough the metal, when he heard the typical ‘Roger, roger’ of battle droids.

“Oh, not good.” he muttered, knowing that he was in no condition to fight. The moment the droids saw him, they opened fire. Obi-Wan managed to deflect a few bolts, but was soon hit in the arm and the leg. He fell onto the floor and prepared to die, when the ship lurched again, sending him and the droids flying into the wall. The droids were instantly destroyed by the impact, but Obi-Wan had still enough time to think ‘Oh, not again.’ before darkness claimed him.
***************************************************************************

Meanwhile Anakin had reached the bridge (this time without elevator problems) and disposed of all pilots, who steered the ship. Then he contacted the republic cruiser. Soon a hologram of Commander Needa appeared before him.

“Commander we’ve control over the ship. Cease fire or we’ll fall out or orbit.” Anakin ordered.

“Understood, sir. We’ll clear your path. Needa out.”

After Needa had given the order the republic ships stopped their fire, but the damage had already been done. The ship broke apart in the middle, causing both parts to plunge down.

“Sithspit !” Anakin cursed. Quickly he sat down in the pilot’s chair and tried to brake, but the ship was nearly out of control. Somehow Anakin managed to control the ship enough to prevent it from crashing fully into Coruscant’s surface, but let it half-crash onto a landing platform.

Anakin let out a sigh of relieve. Then he thought of Obi-Wan and reached out with the Force to check on him. Normally his former Master’s force-presence was a bright spot of light, but now Anakin discovered shocked that it was only dim and nearly, well nearly dead. Anakin jumped up and raced off the bridge with only one thought: finding Obi-Wan before it was too late.

sad Where is everybody? I need comments! cry

Well this is interesting!

I like the new ideas you've had about the beginning of ROTS- and luckily R2 was there to save the day again!

Hopefully Anakin will be able to get Obi-Wan out of whatever mess he is in currently- poor guy is taking a beating.

Keep up the great work!

Chapter 5: Life or Death

On the Invisible Hand:

Anakin found Obi-Wan lying at the end of the hallway in which the cells were located. He lay motionless on the cold floor and Anakin’s heart skipped a beat before he knelt down and checked his pulse. It was there, but it was shallow and irregular.

“Master. Master!” Anakin called, but Obi-Wan didn’t respond in any kind, not even a twitch.

“I have to bring him to the Temple MedCenter.” Anakin thought for that would be Obi-Wan’s only chance to survive. he just wanted to get up when he heard voices coming from outside the ship and only a few minutes later Mace Windu appeared at the end of the hallway. When he saw Obi-Wan’s still form, he paled.

“Who did that? Commander Needa only told us that you had control over the ship.” he asked Anakin.

“Grievous.” Anakin replied grimly. Mace took another look.

“Will he survive?”

“I don’t know.” came the pained reply.

“Better bring him to the Temple immediately. There’s a ship waiting outside.”

“Yes, Master and the Chancellor is in cell 3.” And with that Anakin gently swept up Obi-Wan in his arms and excited the ship.

*********************************************************************

Jedi Temple, MedCenter:

Anakin all but rushed through the doors of the Medcenter. The moment he entered the Healer Winna Di Unni came towards him.

“Healer Unni, Obi-Wan needs help urgently.”

“Place him on the bed here, please.” the Healer advised, wasting no time with questions. She began to examine Obi-Wan’s body. Her face darkened.

“Healer Eerin, Healer Xutan?” she called. Two other Healers hurried to the bedside, one a Mon-Calamari, one a tall and dark-haired Humanoid. They spoke quietly to each other, so that Anakin couldn’t hear what they said. He suspected that it wasn’t good. Then Healer Unni came over to him, took him by the arm and led him out.

“Hey, stop! I want to stay with Obi-Wan.” he protested.

“You can’t do anything here, Anakin.” the Healer told him gently. “You’ll have to wait until we call you in.” She turned to go.

“Wait! Will Obi-Wan make it?” he asked pleadingly, dreading the answer.
Winna looked at him with pity.
“Anakin, I won’t lie to you. His condition his very critical and we really don’t know if he’ll make it.” she said softly and disappeared trough the door which clanged shut.

Anakin sank into a chair, devastated. he couldn’t imagine anything worse than sitting before a MedCenter waiting for news from a maybe dying Obi-Wan. Well, except if it was Padme lying in there. Thinking of Padme, he suddenly realized that she probably didn’t know that he was alive and that she certainly was very worried about him. He was torn between his need to stay near Obi-Wan and his wish to see Padme. He was startled out of his thoughts when the door to the MedCenter opened again and Healer Unni came towards him, a worried look on her face.

“How is Obi-Wan doing?” Anakin asked before she could say a word.

“Not that well, but there’s still hope. He’ll need surgery and that will take some time. Even after that I doubt he would be conscious. Go and rest a bit, Knight Skywalker.” Winna advised him. Only then Anakin realized that he probably didn’t look so well himself. That decided him. Winna was right, he needed rest and he couldn’t help Obi-Wan now anyway. That was up to the Healers.

“Thanks, Winna.” he said giving her a small grateful smile before taking off to the Temple Hangar.
He chose a speeder and ten minutes later he arrived at Padme’s apartment in 500 Republica. As soon as he’d landed and parked the speeder, a golden protocol droid came towards him.

“Oh Master Anakin! It’s so good to see you.” he exclaimed.

“Threepio, is Padme here?” Anakin asked, a tad of impatience in his voice.

“Oh yes, of course. She’ll be most pleased by your visit. She was very worried about you.” And with that C-3PO led Anakin through the door.

“Mistress Padme,” he called. “You’ve a most welcome guest.” Padme came out of a connecting room, wearing a silky robe and a blue dress underneath. When she saw Anakin she cried out and threw herself into his arms. He in turn embraced her firmly and tried to soothe her trembling.

“Oh Anakin! It was said that you were dead. I was so worried.” Padme cried and indeed she looked like she’d wept.

“I’m all right, darling. We were just held up on the mission.” Anakin assured her.

“And Obi-Wan and the Chancellor?” she asked.

“The Chancellor is a bit shaken, but otherwise well. Obi-Wan though ….” his voice trailed of pained.

“What about Obi-Wan?” Padme inquired, sensing that something was wrong.

“They don’t know if he’ll survive.” Anakin pressed out.

“What?” Padme cried out horrified.

“He’s in surgery just now, I think. That’s why I came. I can’t help him now.” Anakin said softly and Padme saw tears glistening in his eyes.

“Oh Anakin. That is terrible. Sit down and tell me everything.” Padme suggested and they sat down on Padme’s couch. Anakin explained the whole story to her and she listened attentively. When he’d finished, Padme was shocked.

“Poor Obi-Wan. He’d had to endure so much. Can we go and see him?” Padme wanted to know.

“The Healer said that she would inform me we are allowed to visit him or when the situation changes.” Anakin told her. “We’ll have to wait until then.”

The rest of the day they relaxed, enjoyed each others company and tried not to think too much about Obi-Wan.
*********************************************************************
Meanwhile Healer Unni reported to the Council.

“His condition is still somewhat unstable, but it got better since the surgery. We hope that he’ll awake soon, but even then’ll have a hard time with his injuries.” Winna explained.

“What injuries does he have?” Shaak Ti asked with genuine concern.

“A few blaster wounds and some broken ribs are the worst. Apart from that he has a light concussion and his body is covered in cuts, whip marks and bruises. Normally these injuries wouldn’t be life-threatening, but he seems to have been tortured with a torture droid which causes extreme pain and weakens the tortured.” the Healer explained.

“Torture?” Saesee Tiin asked shocked.

“Well we can’t be sure until either he or Knight Skywalker tells us the whole story, but all signs indicate it.” Winna replied.

“Speaking of him, where is Skywalker?” Mace asked.

“I sent him off to get some rest. He looked like he needed it. He’s very worried about Obi-Wan.”

“Leave young Skywalker in peace until Master Kenobi has recovered we should.” Yoda declared. Murmurs of agreement could be heard from the other council members. At that moment Winna’s comlink beeped. She fished it out of her pocket.

“Yes?”

“Obi-Wan has regained consciousness.” announced the voice of Bant Eerin.

“I’m coming, Bant.” Winna said and switched her comlink off.

“If you’ll excuse me?” she asked the Council.

“Of course, go and deliver Obi-Wan our greetings.” Mace replied and the Healer hurried out of the circular room.
*********************************************************************
When Obi-Wan came around again, the first thing he noticed was that the pain was much lesser than before. The second thing he noticed was that he lay in a soft bed and that was a very puzzling thought for his still somewhat addled brain which had difficulties in coping with the information. After a few minutes of hard thinking the memories began to come back slowly until he remembered everything what had happened, including all the painful details of his torture. Only the thought of it made him groan out aloud. He tried to move his head, but discovered that that was a very bad idea because it gave him a fierce headache. Still he suspected he’d been given a considerable amount of pain-blockers. That moment he saw his old friend Bant approaching.

“Obi-Wan you’re awake!” she exclaimed.

“Hello Bant.” he said in a still a bit rough voice.

“How do you feel? You were unconscious for quite some time.” Bant asked.

“I’m rather fine actually, but I can’t move without pain.” he answered.

“That will pass in time.” Bant assured him. “I have to contact Healer Unni that you’re awake now.” She pulled out her comlink and alerted Master Unni.
After that she looked at Obi-Wan warmly. “I’m glad that you’re finally conscious again Obi-Wan. You have to stop giving your friends heart-attacks.”

“I have to apologize for that. I should have known that the ancient Master Bant would be in the danger of having a heart-attack if I get myself a bit smashed up.” he teased her.

“Don’t get cocky Obi-Wan. You’re still my patient and thus at my mercy. For example I could give you porridge to eat every morning.” she threatened.

“Aargh, you wouldn’t.” he cried in mock shock.

“I would.” she insisted.

“Okay, okay, you won. I will certainly not risk having to live of porridge.” he conceded.

“Hah! I knew you would see my point.” she said and turned to check some instruments.

“Tyrant.” Obi-Wan grumbled under his breath.

“What was that?” Bant demanded to know.

“Oh, never mind.” he replied nonchalantly irritating her even more (as he had clearly intended).

“Never mind?” Bant echoed, glowering.

Fortunately Healer Unni chose this moment to enter and rescued Obi-Wan.

“Master Kenobi, how are you feeling?” Winna asked.

“Oh, quite well, thanks to you.” Obi-Wan replied, getting slightly annoyed by the constant questions about his condition. But he had never liked to stay at the MedCenter anyway, trying to get out there as soon as possible (greatly to the dislike of all the healers who had cared for him).

“And the Council members send you their greetings Obi-Wan.” she continued. “I’ll have to check on your injuries again. That’ll be a bit painful, but I’ll give you a mild sleep-sedative so you won’t feel much and get your sourly needed rest.” she explained.

“Okay.” he mumbled as she injected the sedative and sleepiness took hold of him.

“Please tell Anakin, will you?” he asked before falling asleep completely so that he missed the soft ‘of course’ from Healer Unni.

I'm glad Obi-Wan's doing better, and it was nice to see Anakin wanting to stay by his side rather than immediately wanting to go to Padme.

Yay, Obi-Wan is alive!

Chapter 6: End of the war?

The Chancellor’s office, Senate Building:
Mace Windu and Yoda entered the Chancellor’s office.
“Ah, Master Windu, Master Yoda. I still have to thank your Jedi for the valiant rescue.” Palpatine greeted them both.
“Do that you should. Nearly lost his life in the attempt Master Kenobi did.” Yoda told him.
Palpatine appeared to be shocked. “I didn’t know that! Will he get over it?” he asked sounding sincerely concerned, but inside he cursed. Why did this meddlesome Jedi always have to survive all the attempts on his life? It would be far easier to get at Skywalker without him being an irritation.
“Yes, Master Kenobi will make a full recovery.” Mace replied. “But we’re not here to discuss that.”
“Then why do you honor me with your early visit?” Palpatine wanted to know.
“With Grievous and Dooku both dead, the war is officially over and so is your time as Supreme Chancellor.” Mace stated bluntly. Again Palpatine cursed silently. He needed just a bit more time for his plans to unfold, but he kept his smile on his face.
“Of course, Master Windu. But as the last thing I’ll do in office, I’ll have to convince the Separatist Leaders to sign a peace treaty. After that I’ll gladly give back the emergency powers and resign from office.”
Both Mace and Yoda seemed to be satisfied by this.
“Please keep us informed about the progress of the negotiations.” Mace requested.
“Of course and a good day to you. “ Palpatine assured them. Mace bowed slightly and exited the room together with Yoda, leaving Palpatine alone to contemplate what to do next. He decided that he would have to accelerate his plans and send the dream to Skywalker tonight.
***************************************************************************
Padme’s apartment, 500 Republica:
Anakin was woken up in the morning by his beeping comlink. He needed a few minutes to find it, sleepy as he was.
“Skywalker here.” he said.
“Hi Anakin. It’s Bant. Obi-Wan is awake.” Anakin was wide awake at once.
“I’m coming.” he announced and got up to clothe himself. Padme, who had slept next to him, awoke to the sound of his rummaging.
“What’s the matter?” she wanted to know.
“I’m going to see Obi-Wan. Healer Bant says that he’s awake.”
“Alright. I’ll try to find some time where I can visit him, too. Maybe tomorrow.” Padme called after him as he hurried out.
***************************************************************************
Obi-Wan was woken by the sun, shining straight into his face. He sat up and was surprised that it was quiet obviously already the next afternoon. As soon as he’d sat up, Bant came over to him, bearing a tray with his breakfast.
“Good morning Obi-Wan.” she greeted him cheerfully. He grumbled a reply and eyed his breakfast suspiciously.
“No porridge?” he asked.
“No porridge.” Bant confirmed. he began to eat and just as he had finished, Anakin came trough the door.
“Master!” he cried and ran towards him, giving Obi-Wan a bear hug.
“Ouch! Anakin, calm down.” Obi-Wan protested, although he was touched by the gesture, but his ribs hurt under the pressure. Only then Anakin realized that he had unintentionally hurt him and released him, looking ashamed of himself. He looked so embarrassed that Obi-Wan quickly assured him that no harm was done, but Bant wasn’t that gentle.
“Anakin Skywalker! If you do something like that again, I swear I’ll kick you out!” she cried in a tone that clearly indicated that she meant it.
“I’m sorry.” Anakin said still shame-faced.
“Anakin I wanted to ask you how in the blazes you managed to get us all out of there, after all I was not a really great help.” Obi-Wan asked hurriedly, changing the subject before Bant could start in earnest.
“That wasn’t me, but Artoo. He freed me so that I could free you and land that cruiser.” Anakin explained.
“You actually managed to land that ship?” Obi-Wan asked flabbergasted.
“Well, yes I did.” Anakin blushed.
“I always knew that you were an extraordinary pilot, but you’re even better than I thought.” Obi-Wan acknowledged, sounding rather proud of his former apprentice.
“Thanks Obi-Wan.” Anakin said flattered for he knew that compliments from his Master were as rare as diamonds on Tatooine (nearly non-existent).
“And how is the war doing?” Obi-Wan wanted to know.
“It’s officially over, but they still negotiate with the remaining Separatist Leaders. I don’t know more than that.” Anakin replied.
“Well that sounds good.” Obi-Wan observed.
And so they talked and talked till the evening when both fell asleep, Obi-Wan lying in his bed, Anakin sitting on the chair next to it.
