The Empire has finally completed the construction of the Emperor's greatest new weapon, The Death Star. Darth Vader has
sent his son, Imperial Commander Luke Skywalker, to ensure that the new station is ready to present to the Emperor. This will
be done by testing the fire power of this new station. What a better location than that of Alderaan, long rumored to be the new heart of the Rebellion.

Princess Leia Organa and Han Solo have secretly married, and it's a secret that Leia is finding to be more and more difficult to keep as her new role as Queen of Alderaan calls upon her to take quick action to save her people and home planet from being
the first target of the Empire's new weapon.

Han Solo has traveled to the system of Bespin to seek out old friends and to bring a very old friend home. It comes with a
shockingly high price. A cost that might keep him from ever returning home.

Padme Amidala Skywalker had returned to her former life with hope it would save the man she has loved since she was a girl.
It is a struggle that she still hopes to win. But can she save a man so long lost to the Dark Side of the Force? At what personal
price will it come too if she can save the heart of Anakin Skywalker from Darth Vader?

Part 1

Alderaan's Gambit

Alderaan.

Aldera was as beautiful as ever with it's white buildings and towers shinning brightly as the snow made the green lawns look like a sea of diamonds.

Leia Organa-Solo leaned over the balcony to take in the entire view, and smiling as she could get a look of
the Royal Docking Port that was to the east of the Royal Palace itself.

It was a place she looked to every day, hoping to see the shape of her husband walking from the building and into the Palace.
It was a place that was getting more and more difficult to look at from this view as her growing belly now protested if she
leaned too far over the edge of the stone wall that she grasped with small hands.

"Your Grace, you shouldn't be out here," protested that of her long time lady-in-waiting, Winter, her white hair flowing as she
hurried up to the new Queen of Alderaan, and protectively forced Leia to wear a thick black robe.

It hid the pregnant round belly well, but one could easily make it out if they got too close.

"You should be inside resting, think of the baby."

Leia frowned at her life long friend. It was one matter she could not stop thinking about since she was told she was pregnant by her doctors.

It was something that had changed her life greatly as it had prevented the new Queen from remaining full time with the
Rebellion, and as well as her new responsibilities as Queen.

She was a Queen that could rarely go out in public since she was
nearly to the end of her pregnancy, and she hadn't yet been able to announce her marriage to Han Solo to her people.

Soon she would have to tell everything to everyone. Once the baby came there would be no hiding anymore. It was Leia's
greatest joy as well as her greatest fear.

As nearly a year ago she learned a devastating secret about her true heritage. She was not the daughter of Bail and Breha
Organa as she had been raised to believe by Obi-Wan Kenobi, she was the daughter of a Jedi Knight turned Sith Lord, and his
ex-Senator Wife.

Her father was the dreaded Darth Vader.

If he learned of her baby, would he try and take it from her?

"Leia, are you all right?"

"I'm-- I'm fine," Leia forced herself to say firmly. Her pale face gave away that she was not all right. She missed her husband.

She longed to have Han here telling her that everything would be fine. What would he think of the baby? She had barely had
the chance to tell him the news during their last communication transmission. It had blinked out shortly after she had said the
words.

"It's the baby moving. I think he's trying to tell me to eat something."

"I honestly think you should go on vacation for a few weeks, at least until the baby arrives."

"I cannot do that. What if Han contacts me here?"

Winter gave the Queen an uneasy look. The subject of Han Solo was a touchy subject with Leia. They had basically married in
secret and he then vanished off the face of the galaxy leaving her with a baby on the way.

Winter hated to suggest the worst of
the man she knew only through what Leia had told her of him. It did not look good though. It was over seven months now.

"Your Grace, perhaps it might be time to plan for the possibility that he isn't coming home. I mean this as your friend as well, Leia. You must announce the pregnancy soon, and your marriage, for the sake of the Throne."

"I cannot, Winter. You know what I told you about my biological family. If it ever gets out that I have a child to the Empire..."

Winter sighed in frustration. Leia insisted tossing that in her face when ever questioned about her decision.

"Will you be hiding the Prince of Alderaan from his people, Your Grace?"

"If I have too, I will."

"Leia, to your people, you are the daughter of Bail and Breha Organa, without question. It doesn't need to get out that.."

"My family here knows that I'm adopted. My biological family is aware of my identity. That makes them a threat to my son."

"Perhaps, after the baby arrives, you should return to service with the Rebellion. It would give you added protection."

"I can't leave my son, here. I will not do what my real mother did to me."

"She gave you a life, Your Grace," Winter replied sharply.

"She gave me a life," Leia agreed. "But a life without a mother."

In a place far away, Luke Skywalker stepped off the Imperial shuttle that had been his escort to the new Imperial base. His
dark robes flowing, it was a frightening reminder of who's son he was to all those that stepped into his path.

"I understand that systems are nearly complete, Commander?"

His voice was soft but clear. It made it almost uncomfortable to be near him.

"Yes, Commander Skywalker. It's my understanding that you'll be joining us to meet Grand Moff Tarkin?"

"That is right, Commander. My father will soon join us before we are ready to demonstrate the power of this station to the
galaxy, do not be concerned."

"Of course not."

It became difficult to breath.

Commander Yegi followed the son of Lord Vader the rest on the way in complete silence as they continued their way to the
bridge.

He briefly wondered why it felt as if it was his last walk to meet his maker.

Part 2

Several months ago

"Leia, it's so good to see you. I got your last message. I've just been busy getting the old girl ready for her flight back to
Alderaan. I want her nice and bright when she's docked in the Royal port," Han replied with clear amusement. He still wasn't
used to being a member of a Royal family. "I sure missed you, sweetheart."

Leia sighed with complete contentment. It had been two months since Han had left for Bespin. It was so early in their young
marriage, it was a time for them to be together. She hoped Han would realize it on his own. She was beginning to think he
loved this old ship of his more than he loved her.

"It's good to hear. It's been a lot longer than you said it would be," Leia retorted swiftly. There was a slight bitterness to her
voice. There was so much to tell him, and she longed to tell him face to face. It shouldn't be across the stars like this. "I have
something I want to tell you, Han."

"Shoot." It was the easy going tone of his. He hadn't a care in the galaxy right now. Leia wanted to hate him for it. The thought
of his reaction to her news though forced a smile to her face.

"Han, I'm pregnant."

It was out there. He seemed not to understand her. "What was that, sweetheart? I can barely hear you."

"I'm having a baby, Han."

Come home. She silently pleaded to him.

"A baby? Did I hear that right, honey?"

His tone was beyond excited. It made her heart leap for joy.

"Yes, Han, please come home. We have so much planning to do."

"Honey, wait, I hear something."

Han then vanished out of sight of her monitor. Leia held the monitor tightly in her grasp, searching for any sign of her husband's face.

"Han?"

There was then the unmistakable sound of blaster fire, then complete dead silence before her monitor went black

Alderaan

It had been almost nine months since Obi-Wan Kenobi had visited his foster niece and this was a visit he was most greatly
looking forward too.

The Princess of Alderaan had been very silent on the subject of going home when the time had finally come for her to leave the
Rebellion, but he had also sensed her feelings of intense happiness. Obi-Wan also had sensed her strong feelings towards the Pirate Captain that had somehow never left her side since their first encounter.

Han Solo had proven himself to be a good man with a good heart who had lost his way and Leia had helped him find it. The
Princess had given the man a much needed purpose and desire to do good. He could see a bright future for the pair should they
decide to go the way all lovers sometimes do. It would be a difficult future though with much struggle.

Leia was not the average woman who could simply marry the man she loved when the time came. She was now a Queen to the
people she was raised to grow up serving as the Princess of Alderaan. They would expect her to marry someone of equal
standing or greater.

Obi-Wan feared for her passionate feelings and could only hope it lead her to the happiness she deserved.

The shuttle doors opened to the small public transport he had taken into the city of Aldera and the old Jedi master took in the
breathtaking view of the Aldera Palace that was before him.

Snow and mountains framed the ancient white colored Palace beautifully. It was as lovely as he remembered the place to be. It
was difficult to believe that his dear Leia was no longer the little dark haired child that would greet him excitedly at the front
door if he'd been in city too long for her liking.

Leia was now the ruling Queen of Alderaan as Bail and Breha Organa had intended for their only daughter and child to be. The
Princess had grown up well learnt thanks to the position being the adopted daughter of such a high family. She was raised
ready for the role she played now.

A heavily dressed woman stood at the end of the bridge that he crossed to get to the main Palace taris. As he made his way
closer there was no mistaking why the woman dressed in such thick robes. She wore a blue silk hood that framed most of her
face but there was no mistaking those lovely brown eyes of hers. It was what stood out the most about her.

"It's been much too long, little one," Obi-Wan Kenobi accepted the woman's fierce hug and couldn't help but beam with joy at
the sight of her. "I have missed you."

"I have missed you as well," Leia replied softly, taking comfort in the feeling of familiarity that he gave her so easily. "I had no idea you were coming until a few moments ago. Winter said you told her not to tell me anything."

He recognized the dry tone and chuckled, "I wanted to surprise you. You used to like that."

"You know how greatly ill tempered I can be too," Leia quipped back. No anger in her tone but only soft laughter.

"I see that you have managed to surprise me as well."

Obi-Wan looked to the large round belly that stood out between them and Leia hugged herself to put her robes even more so
around her small frame. "I do not mean to question you, Leia. I am merely surprised that you never told me. Where is Han? I
bet he is excited."

Leia suddenly grew pale and he took her arms to steady her.

"Are you all right?" Blue eyes were greatly concerned. "What has happened, Leia?"

"We need to go inside to talk. I can't out here."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean I have no idea where Han Solo is and I dare not say anything else out where others might hear. The Empire is still on
Alderaan. Tarkin has a seat on my council. I can trust no one with anything personal accept Winter."

"Let us go inside." Obi-Wan agreed after a long pause to take everything in.

Perhaps Leia's life was not so perfect after all. Kenobi thought sadly as he followed the young Queen into the Palace.

Part 3

"Where am I?"

Han Solo winced noticably as he opened his eyes what seemed to be the first time in months and tried to focus on those around him. The room was a clear white with bright lights robbing him of his eye sight. The last thing he could remember was speaking to Leia on the holo-vid inside his Suite that Chewbacca, the Cloud City Security Wookie, had assigned him.

He should have known better to trust either Chewie or Lando after the way he last left things between them. He should have stayed on Alderaan with Leia. Han felt another wave of deep guilt for leaving her behind on Alderaan while he went off on some selfish adventure after they were newly married.

Her last message crossed his mind again. A baby. They were going to be parents and he was missing it all. It had been months since he had left for Bespin. Time was getting more and more difficult to remember where he was.

Pain racked his body again from head to toe. A scream ripped through the room and he was surprised to realize it had been his own.

"Now again, where is the location of the Rebellion's new base?"

The deep booming thunder sounded through the room again, making Han blink at the sound of the voice that haunted his every waking moment.

"I told you..." Han growled deeply. "I have no flipping, hyper blasting clue where the base is. I left the Rebellion nine months ago and moved to Alderaan. They're not the type of friends that keep in touch with ex-Imperial officers."

"Yet you married one of their most infulencial leaders," snapped the cold, deep voice of his captor. "Perhaps Organa Solo would be able to make up for where you are lacking as a resource."

"...I..." Han bit back another scream. "I don't know what you're talking about, I'm not married, much less to a Princess."

"You were involved with her. It is well known. You were lovers."

"...Of course.." Han barked back. "What guy would turn down a beautiful, wealthy Princess for some fun?" Han laughed forcefully. "I don't like her kind, only to use them because it's so easy. Flattery will get you everywhere with a trusting, bantha foul."

Pain ripped his body again, leaving Han shaking.

"You are lying to me, Captain Solo. Perhaps it is time to turn our attentions back to our old friend. It will not be too difficult to get close to her once she learns we have you."

"No," Han spit up blood. "Don't. You don't want her. She retired when I left. The Princess won't know where they are now. You'll be wasting... your time..."

"I'm willing to test my theroy," The deep voice barked again. "Guards, take Solo back to the cell on level 6."

"Yes, Lord Vader."

Queen's Rooms

"Your Grace, Grand Moff Tarkin has requested a meeting with you this morning."

Leia stood up to her full height and smoothed the white robes of her dress. The outer vest draped over her completely, hiding her pregnant belly well. Her dark hair was tied back in three braids down her back.

"I have a vistor. Put the appointment off until tomorrow," Leia quipped with obvious annoyance to her life long friend. Winter did not move, making Leia frown. She hated dealing with the Imperial, especially on a near daily basis.

"What is it?" Leia gave up after a few seconds staring match.

"My Queen, he insists. He has promised to involve the garrison if you refuse. Tarkin's office has learned of who your visitor is."

"My uncle, Olio Organa, is here visiting me. Nothing more. Can the Queen of Alderaan not recieve family now? Shall I tell my six-year-old cousin back to the orphanage with her? Ciara can no longer be the Princess now because it might upset Tarkin?" Leia finished with a deep scowl.

Ciara was Raymus Antillies' six-year-old Granddaughter who had recently lost both of her parents in a shuttle crash. As a show of respect and honor to her adopted family, Leia declared the girl the new Princess of Alderaan, and presented her with her own staff, housing, and court within the Royal Palace. Ciara would have everything Leia had growing up and much more.

Leia kept close personal watch on the child and her studies. The young Princess would be second in line to the Organa house behind the unborn baby Leia carried and behind any future hiers that Leia would have.

Leia felt it was the least she could do considering her grandfather and parents had died in her service.

"Your Grace, I am deeply sorry," Winter replied softly after several seconds to ensure Leia was done her tirade.

Leia sighed and growled in frustration, "I am the one to apologize, my friend. I am so tired and was looking forward to a few days of peace. It's been so long since Obi-Wan was last here. It's been nice having family around me again."

"Of course, My Queen. Shall before noon be all right?"

Leia forced a smile and Winter smiled back. She missed the days when they could still address each other by their first names. Winter grew up in the old Alderaanian court as she did. There would be no getting the woman to call her by her name now. Not even in private.

"Yes, please do, handmaiden," Leia replied as with much ease as she could to her tone.

"Yes, my Queen!"

Winter was gone and another familiar figure stepped into the room.

"You're really too stressed. Why not take a few days to yourself now that you're expecting soon?"

Leia shook her head and looked at her uncle with sad eyes. There was simply too much to do. She had Ciara to watch out for within the Palace, there was soon the meeting with Tarkin, and then her contact within the Rebellion was to be arriving within the next day with new information about Han.

She had to know where he was. Had he truly abandon her like Winter kept suggesting? Was learning about the baby too much?

"Han, I might learn where he is soon. I can't turn away from my duties until I know he is safe."

"Leia, what is going on? You're not considering returning Alderaan to the Rebellion with Imperials all over the planet?"

"It's our only hope for freedom. I want my son to lead a free system of planets in my stead, not a system of prisoners."

"You're risking too much."

"Perhaps, but I have no choice. I'm Queen now, I can't allow our world to fall to the Empire, to Vader."

"Is this what this is about. You want to get back at them, at him?" Obi-Wan accused. His blue eyes standing out from blue robes that matched the color perfectly.

"You're being ridiculous." Leia snapped back.

The Queen honestly did not want to think about them. Her parents. Her real parents. Her twin brother. They were all lost to her now, all apart of a past that had been barely alive. They did not matter. She was raised the daughter of a Prince and a Queen. She was not theirs.

"Am I?" Obi-Wan shot back. "I can sense your anger at them. You believe them behind what happened to Han. Do not let it control who you are. It is of the Dark Side."

"I'll do what ever I must to protect my family. We had such a little time... Obi-Wan, please try to understand."

"I don't believe you fully understand yourself, Leia. Think of your baby. Would you like your child to be raised by someone like Vader?"

"He'll never get my son."

It was a statement of fact, one he dared not argue with the young Queen.

"It could happen if he loses his mother like his grandmother lost his grandfather."

Obi-Wan then left the room, the doors closing quietly behind him.

Part 4

The conference room in the east corridor was bright with rich violet and ice blue colors. It had a view that was breathtaking,
over looking the open lake that sat next to the Palace of
Alderaan, with a rich, thick water fall that crashed into the depths of the lake.

It was the spot where her husband had told her that he loved her for the first time without encouragement or insistence. It was a
moment that had truly set Leia Organa-Solo free from the woman raised with the purpose of giving her life for Alderaan's
people, and gave life to the woman that Han Solo had quickly, deeply, and helplessly had fallen in love with.

It made Leia stop worrying what the High council will think of their Princess Organa for marrying below her station, that her
people may desert her and demand the Royal line return to her mother's family.

If they all hated Leia for marrying for love, she and Han would go some where quiet and beautiful to raise their son in peace.
Leia would fully submit to Han's hope to simply stay out of the Empire's way and live.

As the former Princess of Alderaan, now it's Queen, picked up her thick blue dress off the floor as she entered the room where
Grand Moff Tarkin waited for her, she allowed the Royal within her heart to take control from the woman that just wanted her
husband returned to her.

"Moff Tarkin, what is this meeting concerning today? I made you well aware that I would be unavailable the next few days as I
received a visitor."

"With that, Your Highness..."

"That will be Queen Organa and Your Majesty, thank you," Leia quipped acidly, taking her seat at the head of the thick oak
table in the room.

"Your Majesty, you are well aware that keeping a traitor of the Empire is an illegal offense. I am here to see you arrested and
taken into imprisonment."

Leia stood with as much speed as her body allowed her, towering equally to Tarkin's height, his crisp dull uniform paled in the
bright colored room next to the Alderaanian Queen.

"I will have you arrested, Councilor, before you can leave this room," Leia barked with as much as authority in her voice as she
could command given the full blown terror that seized her heart at the very idea.

She had no fear of this man for herself, but if they took her now they'd find out her greatest secret of all... her unborn son. She
could not let that happen. The Empire would imprison her before having her executed. They may or may not wait for her son to
be born first before doing so.

Tarkin merely smiled at her attempt to seem just as threatening as he was and spoke into his communicator attached to his
wrist.

"Commander Casey, please do come in and take the Queen into Imperial custody. And do proceed gently, the Queen is in a
delicate condition."

"Wait!" Leia demanded suddenly, her eyes wide, nearly mad. "You haven't even told me why you are arresting me."

"Marrying and harboring a fugitive of the Empire, or keeping secretly a Jedi master within your Palace walls," Tarkin shrugged
with a known look in his piercing cold eyes. "Your choice, Queen Organa... Solo."

Casey entered in full stormtrooper uniform, armed and ready to take his prisoner.

"How...?...I hid everything...How did you possibly..."

"Your husband, Your Grace...Your husband gave us a full report on your secret marriage and secret child on the way. We
have months of information to keep you in prison for the next fifty years, not mentioning your Rebel ties."

"No..." Leia whispered in disbelief. "Han would never betray me...us. Why did you take him?"

Casey placed Leia in cuff links.

"You would have to ask your father that one, my Queen," Tarkin sneered viciously into her young face.

"Now, take her to the holding center."

"Please, Your Grace," stated Casey quietly.

It was obvious the guard did not wish to make her leave with him unless it was required.

"Lead the way out." He nudged her back quite gently as a warning that the next time he touched her it would not be with such kindness.

"Thank you," Leia murmured softly, before starting to lead the way into the corridor, no longer caring if the waist coat hid her
belly at all.

They knew, they all did. She had been foolish to hide it so long.

She briefly wondered if Winter had any idea of what she had lead her Queen into this day and then felt guilty for it.

Han.

At least they would be together soon.

The group exited into the corridor, lead by the Queen of Alderaan, followed by Casey and Tarkin. There were shocked gasps
of handmaidens in the brightly lit corridor, cries that couldn't be mistaken.

"Let my office know what has happened, and my uncle," Leia told them quickly as she continued to lead the way.

As they were about to turn left an unmistakable sound hissed in the air, it was a sound that Leia hadn't heard in almost a year,
and it was a most welcomed sound at that.

Leia turned around just in time to see her uncle use his lightsaber to knock the rifle from Casey's grasp and use the Force to blast the older man into the near by wall. The ancient weapon then turned and cut Tarkin's drawn weapon in half and the man's left arm with it. Tarkin fell to the floor, his eyes closed. Leia could sense with her limited developed skills with the Force that the terrible man still lived.

Obi-Wan Kenobi grasped hold of the Queen's right hand in his.

"The trouble you always seem to get yourself into when I'm not around, seriously," Obi-Wan murmured, his blue eyes dancing
despite the seriousness of what had just happened. Leia fought not to chuckle. She wanted to cry upon seeing such a familiar,
most welcomed face. "We need to get you off Alderaan, after what has just happened..."

"I know...They have Han, Obi-Wan. They have him," The Queen replied with deep sadness and bitterness she couldn't help
but feel. "They known everything about us."

"We best be on the move, little one," Obi-Wan answered with worried eyes and lead the young Queen quickly away from the
scene.
