	Title: Hate Who: Vader (& Leia) When: ESB AU Type: One-shot hope/angst. For they are both sides of the same coin. Disclaimer: Great George owns all. The first step towards the Dark Side is hate. It is a truth well known to all practitioners of the Dark Arts. Darth Vader was no exception. And now, in the time-honoured tradition, he began the process of inciting hate in a powerful, yet untrained another. Based on his spies' reports and his own observation of the girl over the years, he was quite correct in deducing that torture was unnecessary on her. Her spirit was indomitable fire, so it was upon her spirit that he exacted the first cut of hate. Just look at her. How helpless, how furious she was, when facing her lover for the last time, the steam of carbonite shimmering between them like spirits of the dead. Yet she did not shirk from the challenge of saying goodbye, that brave, brave girl. And when the smuggler fell into the unnatural sleep with a cry so cutting in the Force it made the Dark Side sing, the Dark Lord saw the girl flinch and step back into the wall of wookie that was her lover's thrall. No doubt she would have felt the disturbance in the Force - it was quite inevitable, really - yet would she recognise her strength as it truly was? Or would she continue to believe the lies that the vile Organas spun to keep her blind to the truth? The bounty hunter demanded his due, and the Dark Lord paid the favour with casual swing of his lightsabre. The smuggler was his bait for her: he would be stupid to waste it on some inconsequential thug. She stared at him wide-eyed as he ordered for her and her frozen smuggler to be transported to the Executor. He could feel the fear, the memories of torture, the revulsion. Her hate, fresh, sharp, powerful. He would shape her hate into real purpose, just as he would teach her how to love the purpose. She would be his better nature and her mother's will: she would shape the galaxy as it was truly meant to be. And then she would have no more need for fears, no more need for sorrow, no more need for despair. She would be free. All Sith meet their end at the hands of their apprentices. 	Ohhhhhh! Very good! I love this turn of events! An interesting idea indeed. 	Very nicely done! It's strange, but I never would have thought of Vader manipulating Leia this way, even though (duh!), it makes perfect sense. Initially I had imagined that the piece would be longer, but His Lordship simply wouldn't allow me to write any more than necessary. .... Sara_Kenobi Glad you enjoy the story. What I'm surprised by is the fact that His Lordship is so taken up by his daughter/apprentice that he's forgotten all about a certain golden droid. Or maybe he has outgrown childhood pursuits.
