Ok, here's the dirty little secret - we (read: I) flubbed the game aspect before by being too rules orientated and it made it less free form. In my defence, I don't do any online RP because as a pen-and-paper RPG'er, I'm elitist on that front. d20 High-Five, dizfactor or VLM!
Ahem.
In any event, I think we could do with some games but in this case, I'm happy to facilitate discussions on how we can get some games happening.
Soooooo, what I'm looking for is a group of interested people to help me brainstorm and rules-ify both a Senate RP (internationally themed), and another trivia quiz focusing on I guess culture, politics and modern history. Colours for the winner, title for the host and the like.
Yes, we'll plug this on Around the Boards in Comms to get outside interest.
We have two options; either a group of 10 get a private forum to help test out ideas, free from distractions and fly by lolz posting; or we just knut it out here.
Your call. Suggest away!

Trivia game is always good.
Since this is the Senate Floor after all, maybe we can form some debating teams for whoever is interested?? Not me I'm crap at debating 
As for an RP...I don't know what that is.

RP=role playing. What was tried was that people stepped into the roles of UN member states and interacted. I agree that the idea was great, but that it needed to be looser and less formal.
E_S is looking for ideas along those lines.
With the success of the James Bond discussion in Amp, I'd be open to adding in a potential fantasy element, as long as the fantasy was grounded in reality.
I'd picture FID being a Blofeld, or K_K being a Jason Borne, or Lowbacca being the head of TEAM AMERICA... Of course, there would have to be limits here as well.
I still like the idea of hosting Tom Clancy-esque "action fiction" here in the Senate. We just need a couple of people who are interested in trying out their amateur writing skills.

I thought the model UN was exceptionally accurate. It didnt work, accomplished nothing, and was full of ridiculous posturing. How more accurate can you get?
And wait, I'm mentioned to head team america? Rock on. Is it wrong for that to be the case when I'm not actually in America for time being? Or can I count this as an invasion?
I"m most interested in the trivia bit, myself, but not sure what all is in mind on that one.

Oh cool! I would definitely be interested in hosting a trivia game if you need a host. I also love debate but my time is fairly limited (no time to go looking for sources and the like) so I'd rather watch/judge.
And Lobacca's assessment of the UN made me laugh.

We've tried debate and as much as I love the idea, it's never really got going. 
But still, more ideas people! You have to have some idea of how we can liven this place up!

I like the quiz idea. I'd also love debate where we're just given a topic and a side as I think that'd be fun... it got mentioned last round of asking for ideas as well as the model UN thing, but we only went with that one.

We'd have to agree on number of participants or set a deadline.... Also, the rules need to be clear to everyone before initial participation.
I'd agree on short-term ban for elimination and colors as the prize.

You know what would be awesome is a devil's advocate thread, where people argue issues that are opposite what they normally hold.
Like, Ender would have to be an American socialist, and argue accordingly. dizfactor could be an evangelical Christian. We could do a run of most major topics, gun control, abortion, homosexuality, etc.
