On PBS on tuesday nights frontline is hardhitting freelance show that is quite informative. Last nights was Endgame. basically it was a timeline of the Iraq war the way things really on going on. They elaborated on the real facts. Not the snippets of the media.

Its ironic how Rumsfeld was the war detractors greatest ally in getting the troops home. Yet now we are trying Clear, hold and build. A strategy that workd in TalAfar. Something not told about by the media. Instead of debating how is the right way to do Iraq it highlighted successes of individuals like Col McMaster in TalAfar. And the failures of our own policymakers.

oh and my favorite frontline will always be the Man who knew. Chronically the story of fbi special agent John O'Neill. A maverick who tried to hunt down Osama and al quaida and was thrwarted by his superiors and others. He ends up quitting his job two months before 9/11 and takes on the job of Head of Security at the world trade center. And he dies trying to save lives. A most ironic death fitting of a greek tragedy or hollywood movie. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/knew/

I've only seen a couple, but from my experience they are quality programs. If the cable news channels were actually interested in providing news, they would air shows like Frontline rather than hour after hour of baseless and subpar commentary.

The ones I've seen:

Private Warriors
is a great look at the use of contractors in Iraq to buttress the U.S. military.

The Dark Side is an extremely interesting look into the policy disputes in the Bush administration in regards to the war on terror starting directly after Sept 11 to our invasion of Iraq.

Also, the great thing about the PBS Frontline website is you can watch the entire documentary on your computer. They break each hour long program into 5 or six segments which you can stream easily on your desktop, so go ahead and click the links.

I saw a great one on terrorism years ago, with former CIA officer Bob Baer being interviewed. If you have even a pressing interest in this matter, I recommend checking it out.

I think my favorite is The Lost Year in Iraq

It was a good topic, and I think because they narrowed to something specific it was a clear and detailed piece.
