a) they forces women who wanted to wear the scarf over their heads, to take it off
b) Stopping Muslims to do their daily prayers

The root causes of terrorism throughout history is because the terrorist party is unable to accomplish it's goals through convential means, thus it resorts to terrorism. It's simply a tactic that has existed and will continue to exist. That's why the so called war on terror so stupid, the US will never rid the world of terrorism.
As for the root cause of Middle Eastern terrorism today, I'd have to say first and foremost the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, US intervention in the Middle East, mass arab opinion that believes the reason they live under repressive dictatorships is because of US support of their government.
