I was 7 in '77; my grandmother (Nanny) took my sister and me to see the big movie everyone was talking about. I loved it, of course, but the abiding memory I have of that first viewing is of my grandmother chuckling about Chewbacca afterward. She kept saying "I loved that dog! I just love that big dog!" laugh

PS, My big love affair with STAR WARS really began in summer '78, when I saw the movie six more times, bought up all the $1.89 action figures I could find, got the Story Book, etc.

My first Star Wars memory was of me going out to buy the Outrider when I was a toddler in 1996, from my local target. I collected before I actually saw the OT.

My mom took me to a back-to-back sreening of ANH and ESB in the early 80's, I was 4 or 5. To this day, I still consider it to be the best thing she's done to me (after you know the love and the caring). I would also be the last time until 1986 that I would watch ESB, because we didn't have cable, and videostores had no copies of it. Shortly after that, I got my first action figure, Walrus Man, among the lamest action figures ever!

In the following months, my parents bought a VCR (a Beta!) and a neighbour taped ANH and gave it to me. I watched that time a million times.

My dad put me infront of the TV to show me A New Hope on VHS, which he taped off of HBO. I fell asleep after the first 10 to 15 minutes. I remember watching the first scene thinking Darth Vader was scary. I think I was to young or ANH is extremely boring for a 3 to 4 year old.

Then in preschool around 1980, one of the other kids brought in a read along A New Hope on a 45 LP. Right after school I asked my mom to buy me one and it ended up being The Empire Strikes Back. It looked just like this.

After that I was hooked!

My Mom then got me some toys, they were from a garage sale, which I still all own.

Finally when I saw my first Star Wars film from beginning to end was when we went on a family vacation to Morro Bay. We saw Empire, it only cost a dollar a person. I sat on my dads lap the whole time, he told me years later that I didn't stop sqirming until the film ended.

I was eight years old when I first saw A new Hope.
The Phantom Menace was about to be released so they aired the original trilology on tv.

I had just moved to Atlanta in the summer of 1977. I wandered over to a house down the street, and a kid was playing on the porch, so I walked up to see what he was up to. He was engaged with a Landspeeder and few figures. I was a stranger in a strange land...new town, new kids...and strange new toys. I remember being blown away that he told me they were toys from a new movie. Toys...from a MOVIE? They were simpler times...
Needless to say, I soon got to experience that movie. And not long after managed to get quite a few of those strange new toys. happy

Stormtroopers at the beginning of ANH in 5th grade. A classmate brought in ANH to watch in class.

My earliest memories of SW are fuzzier than Leia's of Padme. It was sunny, early morning (i think) and I remember being struck by the Jawas carrying R2 across the desert towards the sandcrawler (To this day ANH and this scene in particular are as 'Star Wars' as SW gets for me) I can't have been much older than 3..My first vivid memory was getting Yoda & Threepio figures in my christmas stocking dancing

My parents took me to A New Hope when I was 1.5 and they said I didnt move the movie then intriuged me. They took my brother and I to Empire and when the Wampa hits Luke I started screaming so loud my dad took me out of the theater. However the best memoryI have is I remember I had a sleep test to take for my sizures when I was younger. So my mom rented all 3 of the original trilogy made popcorn and stayed awake with me. Mothers gotta love em

I was too young to have seen ANH on the big screen in its original release, but I do remember seeing ESB on the big screen when I was three. Before that, I remember getting the Kenner Greedo action figure from a package of stuff we won being home contestants on the local Bozo the Clown show.
