lol, i'm surrounded by stars!

no really, i'm great. a bit dazed, i don't know if i just didn't have enough coffee or what. the library where i work is always pretty slow on saturdays, but in the summer especially so. so i'll often find myself just zoning out on the computer.

i need to remember to bring a book on days like today. oh wait, i'm in a library!

I'm okay, having some dinner and listening to A Tribe Called Quest. Tomorrow I'm supposed to be going to some kind of pool party in a posh gated community outside my city, and even though I'd rather gouge my eyes out with a fork, I'll be attending. Damn my social life, uh?

a derrida reader, a foucault reader and an atlas of middle-earth. but it was years and years ago, before i was a full-time staff member, and since then i felt guilty and returned them.

you need to think of a way to make that party fun. go dressed as a pirate or something, then act all distraught when you discover there's no pirate theme. throw a huge tantrum and become the center of attention. it will be glorious.

I'm listening to The Anthology. Sick stuff.

But I don't want to ruin the party. It's my best friend's birthday. It's only his girlfriend (She-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named) and me hate each other because, see, I went out with her best friend and... well, the point is we'll be forced to share the same air for eight hours or so. Not fun!

the other day there was a funny looking letter in my mailbox and i thought, "ooh, dave finally wrote me." but it turned out to just be junk mail from geico. i don't know why i assumed a letter from you would be funny looking, but i'm sure it would be.

best friends' girlfriends can be a problem. if you don't like them, it can be really hard because you don't really want to say anything.

low end theory is my favorite tribe album, but midnight marauders is a close second. and that's one of my favorite tracks on that one. i just saw the video for the first time a couple weeks ago.

i'm still on a crazy elliott smith kick. listening to new moon over and over.

 

Instinctive Travels is probably my favorite Tribe album, but Low End Theory and Midnight Marauders follow so closely, it's hard to pick out of the three.

 

i would have to rank instinctive travels third, if only because of the lack of phife on most of the record.

this is clearly their peak era to me.
