    CHAPTER 1

?Hey! Wait for me!? Anakin yelled after Qui-Gon, popping his head out of the cockpit. He adored the Jedi Master?s company, and wished to follow him. He was almost like a father to him now, after leaving his mother on Tatooine, he had nobody else.

Qui-Gon held out his hand to halt the young boy. ?No, Annie, you stay there. Stay right where you are.? Qui-Gon could sense the fear in Anakin, and that was expected. Everyone became afraid at one time or another, and one became more vulnerable to fear in their younger years. Especially around Anakin?s age.

    ?But, I...? Anakin protested.

?Stay in that cockpit.? Qui-Gon ordered. The Force would see Anakin through, as Qui-Gon truly believed that he was the ?chosen one?. The Jedi and his apprentice quickly rushed to catch up with Queen Amidala and her armed escorts. The troops scattered as the large doors slide open and a black robed figure stood before them, raising its cold, yellow eyes to stare down the two Jedi.

Padmé looked to Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon as they stepped forward. The Queen along with Captain Panaka and his troops stood back.

?We?ll handle this...? Qui-Gon stated, watching the dark figure carefully for a split second. Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon removed their cloaks, watching the dark figure remove his cloak as well. The dark garbed figure was a Zabrak, Qui-Gon noted, recalling the race of Master Koth. Remembering would come later, as this menacing figure ignited what would seem to be a double-bladed lightsaber. The same familiar, crimson bladed saber that he encountered briefly on Tatooine.

Both Obi-Wan and his Master charged, clashing sabers in many different positions, each engaging in a different form of defense. The double-bladed saber was known for its lethality, and Obi-Wan knew that he and his Master would need to be extremely cautious when confronting this Sith Lord.

The Sith Lord kicked at Obi-Wan?s jaw, sending him staggering backward a few steps, leaving time for the Sith to engage Qui-Gon. The red blade clashed with that of the green blade as Qui-Gon stabilized his footing. Qui-Gon, being a well known practitioner of Form IV, or Ataru, could not recall the form of his tattooed opponent. His visage was disturbing, but Qui-Gon would not let that deter him.

The battle continued into the Theed Power Generator, which featured a catwalk around an extremely deep pit below the dueling Force Users. Obi-Wan charged once more, blinded by a mild fury, and was kicked once more. Kenobi fell a few levels below, landing rather hard. He groaned as his Master and the Sith Lord continued their duel.

Preoccupied with knocking the Jedi from the catwalk, the Sith was knocked down as well by the ever vigilant Jinn. He found a fault in his stance and sent him down two levels below them. As Obi-Wan regained himself, Jinn pursued the Sith, jumping down after him.

The Sith backed away, watching for the two Jedi, trying to find an escape route. The Sith Lord made his way through a small door and was immediately followed by Jinn as Kenobi attempted to catch up. The three made their entrance into a hallway filled with many changing laser-walls. The Sith made it down several of the deadly walls, Qui-Gon only one wall away. Obi-Wan however, was four walls away from his master.

Qui-Gon let a deep sigh escape his mouth, kneeling down and meditating. He could sense anger on all sides of him. Though the anger did not belong to him, he could sense it from his apprentice and the very opponent he was engaged with.

?There is no emotion...? Qui-Gon spoke in his mind. If this was
