    Title: One With the Force
    Author(s): RX_Sith
Timeframe: Shortly before and after each Jedi's death
    Characters: Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, Yoda, Anakin
    Genre: Mush, Angst
Summary: Each Jedi's connection with the Force.
Notes: Written for Monday Mush Mania.

    One With the Force

The tattooed menace grimaced his teeth and glared
For a moment the Jedi thought his life would be spared
But the red crimson blade severed through his life source
Qui-Gon Jinn then became one with the Force.

The old man dared to rescue a Princess
He found a new hope and sharpened his defenses
He had made up his mind and stayed on his course
Obi-Wan Kenobi then became one with the Force.

    [hr]

The hobbling green Jedi Master waited from afar
For the new hope to arrive and stop this war
He nurtured and trained the new hope with many chores
Jedi Master Yoda then became one with the Force.

    [hr]

Anakin Skywalker died and became Darth Vader
How fortunate he was that his son was his savior
He came back to the light when his son was coarsed
Anakin Skywalker then became one with the Force.

    [hr]

Every Jedi from times before to times ahead
Knows sooner or later that they will be dead
They breathe in the knowledge that opens many doors
Every Jedi knowing they will become one with the Force.

That's an interesting approach, though I don't know that there is necessarily alot of mush conveyed in any of those descriptions. Knowing what we do about those particular scenes, or even the general event of a Jedi passing, it seems to me that any mush to be found would have to come from the effects of those deaths on the characters associated with the Jedi in question. If you were to focus on one event - for example: when Obi-Wan speaks to Qui-Gonn just after the battle with Maul - then you would probably be able to generate some mush based on the exchange between them as he dies and the emotional impact on Obi-Wan.

I don't mean to be critical; I just think mush is typically more poignant when it is used to illustrate the feelings associated with only few characters at a time during a very particular situation. When applied to the bigger picture, such as the rescue of princess Leia, it doesn't have the same emotional focus due to the drama of the bigger picture taking place at the same time.

Well, this is unique. Not sure I'd call it mush, but seeing the Jedi's connection to the Force strengthen as they die and are in a way reborn as they become one with the Force... I don't have the words to say it. It's kind of touching in an odd sort of way. :)

And it's neat to see a poem here. Like Ginchy said, there aren't very many found here.
