    Note: italics are 'thoughts'

    Two red beads

The sun was paining the Jeditemple in a golden hue and I was entering one of my favorite places. It is a small garden with beautiful flowers and trees. A fragrant smell wafted up my nose and the enchanting call of a little bird singing atop one of the larger trees entered my ears.

Obi-Wan, yes, more than seven years ago you accompanied me to this garden. Now you are with your friend Siri going to the Senate shopping mall.
You helped me after that trip to New Apsolon where Tahl died.
You helped me to let go of my loss, you was there for me.

Tahl, how many times have we visited this garden?
We were both initiates when we discovered it and it has become our sacred place.
Tahl, you are now one with the Force and in the end I just remembered the love you have given me.

More pleasant memories came and my eyelids became heavy with sleep.

?No Obi-Wan. Look out!? I yelled when I felt his anguish and ran assisted by the Force towards one of the hangars where the speeders were parked.
Adi Gallia almost collided with me and she must have felt the same.

?Get in, I?ll drive Qui-Gon? Adi said with a very resolute command. ?Our Padawans are in trouble.?

I hopped in and she took off.

    Oh Force!
    Hear my prayer
    In my need
    You have always been there
    He is young
    He's afraid
    Let him rest
    Heaven blessed.
    Bring him home
    Bring him home
    Bring him home.

I felt the anguish of my Padawan and when the Senate shopping mall became visible I saw the billowing smoke pouring out of the entrance.
    ?Obi-Wan hold on?

I surprised Adi by jumping out of the still hovering speeder when we were near enough and took off in a Force assisted run

?Sir You cannot get inside. All living beings are already brought outside.?
That was one of those fire fighters ? a fire chief by the looks of his gear - but I ignored him.

?Obi-Wan you are alive! I am coming.?
?Oh Force no! What did you do this time??
    ?Please Force help me?

?My Padawan is alive down here?

I started to lift the plasteel sheets and tried to move the durasteel supports.

That fire chief ordered ?Royd, Bega help that man.?
Two fire fighters in full gear ran towards me and held the pieces of durasteel in an upright position.
I could free Obi-Wan and ran outside where two medics helped me.
Gently I laid my Padawan on the backboard encouraging him.
"I?m here, Obi-Wan. Hold onto me. It?s okay. Shh?"

The two medics were readying their gear and I want them to bring you home.
?He is a Jedi. You have to take him to the Jeditemple. The healers there know how to treat him.?

?Josh, start him on a fast IV. He is losing a lot of blood?

?Yes Tad, hurry and get a medevac here on the double?

?BP 100/70 and pulse 90. Breathing shallow and irregular.?

A medevac was landing at the orders of that chief.

?Scissors, gauze number 1, give me two of them. Splint, collar, more gauze.?

I supported Obi-Wan and helped the medics to place him on a gurney.
I put my hand on my Padawan?s forehead.
?Obi-Wan hold on, please hold on. The temple-healers will take care of you. Don?t worry.?
I stroked his long braid with my other hand and remembered each attachment of a new bead.

?Chief, this patient ?needs? to go to the Jeditemple, he is a Jedi and it is the nearest medical facility that can take adequate care of him.?

?I don?t recommend it, General hospital is closer. Take him there.?

I walked with Josh Harrar and Tad Henny towards the medevac never losing contact with my Padawan.

?You can ride with us and we are going to the Jeditemple.?

?Tad, as the senior medic of the team, this patient is your responsibil

Ohhh, one of my favorite songs. Incedentally Liam Neeson played Valjean in a movie version (not musical) so who more apropos than Qui to have this for his song? =D=

Alexis_Wingstar Beautiful use of the song, earlybird. to Qui-gon and Obi-wan.

Thanks all for reading and this piece was about what Qui-Gon was thinking during my story Two Red Beads. And that song was just perfect for that scene.
