FYI, not referring to the "jcadmins/jc_admins/jc-admins" all mods one. Considering about 10 people should actually know the address of the one I'm referring to it won't have been signed for spam and other such.

I'm with Malkie and Beth, I too would love an answer to their questions.

With that said I don't like the idea of an admin only board, it was removed in the past for a reason...

I gotta say, I'm not one to complain seriously about vuglar language but theres one thing that has been bothering me lately. GTHO Noob. Its been used a lot lately (in the video game forum more than anything). People first said GT*O but moderators started editing it soon after it started, and changing it to GTHO. I think GTHO noob is a flame and still inappropriate. Heres some examples of it being used.

I'm glad moderators are stepping up saying people should stop being so agressive, but is there an outright statement saying 'stop using that. period.'? because its my opionion there should be.

    GTHOTB!1!!
That is offensive? It's existed in Games since before you registered....

Seems like that to me. How long it's been around is irrelevant.

Nothing to do with sensitivity, it's to do with the rules

    Apt? I think so.

edit = and it *is* do to with sensitivity. Our n00bs are far more hardened after one day in Games than any other boards' n00b after 2 years. Hence why lately "Games" has seen an influx of n00bs with numbers that aren't even '07. I say: "n00bs, stay out of games, or come, get told to GTHOTB *cough*and actually do it*cough* and be better for it."

    Chim, carry on.

GTHO n00b is just Games lingo.
It's an inside joke, nothing more.

In most cases, the people who say it are not being mean-spirited and are just having a bit of fun. It's not to be taken personally at all, as any newcomer to Games gets a "GTHO n00b" as part of their initiation into the forum at some point or another.

I do not think that "GTHO n00b" needs to be stricken from ever being used. The moderators in Games are doing their job and modding for flaming as Master-Fett showed. They can't stop people from posting what they post, but they can edit and ban for violating the TOS.

EDIT: In this case, I just think "GTHO n00b" was being taken out of context.

GTHO is hardly an insult as it is said more often than not in jest, even I have copped a few GTHOTBs when I make my random appearances in games etc.

As for vulgarity, I've heard 5-year olds say more vulgar things than that - let me tell you.

Can I make a small point here? The goal of the moderator complaint resolution process is to facilitate communications from users who have issues with a moderator. It is not designed (nor should it be used) to handle internal issues in the MS or administrator actions regarding a specific moderator.

In those cases where an administrator sees a problem regarding a specific moderator, they should be able to handle that situation directly through several methods; investigation, warning, banning, demotion, etc. They do not need to follow the complaint resolution procedure.

I'm a firm believer that the administrators should be authorized to take action on moderator issues where necessary. I also believe that moderators should be given "due process" in the majority of cases. That said, ultimately, this is a private site. I think we should do our best to be fair and equitable in cases where we're looking at a mod disciplinary action, but I do feel that there are times when action should be taken by the admins directly.

Of course it's relevant. If "GOTHOTB" hasn't been a problem for the past six years, why should it be now?

Grow another layer of epidermis, peeps.

Well, I'll agree with that, when it becomes ok to play flame one of your online friends at this forum. I have no problem with the term myself, but if the TOS says you can't flame, even playfully, with someone you're obviously friends with, than how is that any different than GTHO nOOb?

I concur with Sithman. You people are sensitive, especially halibut.
