well, in a manner of speaking...

Ok, so yes, I am one of those people who spend a chunk of their day replying to those 'send us your comments' lures on news.com.au. Very rarely do I get a guernsey. Well today I got a guernsey AND I was quoted in the preamble.

ANZAC Day parades should not be turned into family outings dominated by children, the national branch of the RSL said yesterday, responding to fears that the event's solemnity was being destroyed.
We asked if children should be banned from marching and NEWS.com.au readers were firmly in favour of letting them take part in the parade.

Many, such as primary school teacher Jon, said: "As long as there is good curriculum about WW1, WW2 Korea, Vietnam and the modern conflicts and peace keepings the ADF has been involved in, I see no concerns with children marching."

While others gave limited support to the idea. Andrew said: "There should be a minimum age, only one descendent per deceased ... I think the presence of many children and infants in strollers causes the parade to become carnival-like."

Mel said: "It's fine for children to march as long as they are well-groomed and appropriately attired. Ban casual clothes and sneakers, not kids!"

Craig said: "Let the kids march for crying out loud - the gulf between old and young is far too wide as it is. I'm also worried that The March is becoming more important than the forgotten and their lesson - one I fear we have not learnt."

First time I ever was in a newspaper, I was photographed on the Tarmac at Maroochy Airport, not even of school age, awaiting the arrival of Prince Charles and Princess Di on their Honeymoon tour. What, early 80s?

I think my mum still has that article somewhere, too.

Yeah, I didn't think that needed to be mentioned.

I'm not sure if our photo shoot from the Star Wars: Special Edition premiere ever made it into the Courier Mail. (Otter as oversized Jawa and me as Garindan the snitch).
