Discussion 10 Reasons The Rebel Alliance are Terrorists (Theory)

To bring a little balance to the force here is a different perspective of The Rebel Alliance. Warnings there is a few Rouge One spoilers involved.

 

I think this guy just doesn't understand the difference between a terrorist and a legitimate freedom fighter. The former deliberately (sometimes exclusively) targets civilian populations to sow "terror" among those populations as a means of weakening the target society (to bring its government down, change the policies of that government, etc). Legitimate freedom fighters fight an oppressive/ authoritarian political entity, and never deliberately target civilian populations (though sometimes civilians are killed in the crossfire).

Also, if the Empire was a democracy or a Republic, he might have a point (if indeed the rebels were deliberately hitting civilian targets). But since the Rebels are fighting an authoritarian state, I'd hesitate to call their actions terrorist in nature. Indeed, they are already being terrorized by their own government, and are fighting back.
