Makes you wonder if Palpatine gave Dooku specific instructions to take out Obi-Wan first or at least make him unconscious.

The novelization tells us, of course.

If canonicity is a sticking point for you, then it may be for naught (although the relevant passage wouldn't seem to contradict anything seen in the film).

Frankly, I only mention it because I just can't help but plug this terrific SW book any chance I get.

Anyway, Clone Wars is back, baby!

 

Either way it lets us know that Obi-Wan didn't stand a chance against Sidious later in the movie.

But new Clone Wars! So excited to Anakin and Obi-Wan's updated character models with draped sleeves.

 

Why all the sudden now, are we seeing Obi-wan in his customary robes. He just always seemed like a character that should always be wearing jedi robes to me. That's one of the few things of the clone wars I can criticize.

 

We started seeing that in Season 5 (Onderon Arc).

As for "why" - robes are very expensive to animate.

 

I'm pretty sure the official reason is that fully animating flowing robes was expensive and nightmarish, which is why we rarely saw them.

EDIT: Beaten, lol.

 

There have been jokes here for years about a robe budget.

 

You can see that Anakin and Obi-Wan had updated character models in the animatics for Crystal Crisis and Bad Batch. No more gloved left hand for Anakin. But watching them finished and in full motion is something else. Looks good. The animation was already heading this way in the lost missions, but I wonder if and how much the style and new techniques used for Rebels effected how these new episodes of The Clone Wars are made?

 

The news of the show coming back with a bunch of new episodes is maybe the best news we could have gotten. It's very rare that these things happens with previously cancelled shows and I'm glad it had this type of luck.

 

Ahsoka has grown on me through the years. That scene in TCW between her and Vader and then seeing her aged and regal self in Rebels. One of the best moments in all of SWTV.

 

So we all have to wait for fall of 2019

The Phantom Menace happens to be celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2019 probably not a coincidence either.

I understand to mark the occasion, they're going to have the voice of Jar Jar give the narrations of current events for each episode.

 

Funny you say that, because Filoni did talk about that in interviews he did with Comicbook.com and CinemaBlend this week.

He was referring to the writing and character arcs I believe, not the animation style. I believe the art design and animation will be true to the the Clone Wars series.

 

Yep from what we saw in the trailer it looked the same if not a bit unpolished.

 

The only thing that maybe looked slightly unpolished was the top of the gunship where the pilot rides in.

 

Happy tenth TCW! It still amazes me that I was only eight back then. How time flies.
