Arden Lai
    Imperial Center Alien Zone, Core

The stranger revealed himself as Nick Rostu, which meant nothing to Arden. He also claimed to be Korunnai, which was even less revealing. Arden sniffed and the man continued, ?Yes, I?m Force sensitive, no, I can?t read your thoughts. Yes, I reckon the Moon Hat is a Force sensitive. No, I can?t read the datapad either.? Arden snorted. The man wasn?t much of merc. He was revealing far too much, to have any experience.

Then, for flavor, Nick said, ?And I don?t know where I?m to take it, so directions would be handy, honey.?

Arden turned and glared at the man. She said, with veritable conviction, ?Call me honey again, and I?ll slash your throat, and hire myself a new pilot. My name is Sylva.? Something she remembered from her time with Cannon: never freely entrust a stranger with your true name. ?We are going to the Sentren system. I assume you know where that is. Otherwise, we are going to need to detour to a trade planet. Preferably Nar Shaddaa.?

Arden?s gaze had lightened, but her brow was still narrowed and her eyes? grim.

"You know me." he said. "I can never resist the chance to annoy the Imps. With that he punched a button on his dash and with that they were a streak in space again as they burst into hyperspace. "So Praesitlyn is out, how about a nice little detour to Geonosis, I know for a fact that the Empire wouldn't want to bother with that dust ball, if not there than Tatooine, either will be safe for a few renegades, actually Tatooine may be safer because of the Hutts power over it." he said. "Let's go." he said as he punched in the coordinates for Tatooine.

Battle of Ando, Ando System, Aboard Imperial Shuttle

The explosion was beautiful. Emerging from the lower Acclamator, it proceeded to engulf both vessels, a flower of red and orange that consumed both of them entirely, the thermal detonator mixing with the reactor fuel and the various explosives within the two vessels to create a new sun in Ando?s sky.

Coll finally died watching his victory. Holding out, a cred chit with his payment, and a couple of extra creds from the Generals personal funds. A thank you, of sorts.

Tagg took the cred chits, adding them to his funds. "Thanks. You weren't too bad for a head-strong Gen. I'll give you that." Folding the General Coll's arms over his chest he laid the detonator in his hands. "A momento, if they let you keep it." Stepping back he saluted the General, a serious one as the man had earned it in his passing even if he had nearly blown them both to the next life.

An arch voice came from the ISD, breaking Tagg from his farewell, and messaged the shuttle. ?General Coll, please respond. This is Moff Briven III.?

"Recce, punch me through if you wouldn't mind." He sat down in an open seat near a comm pick up, he wasn't in any mood to have to deal with a Moff. They tended to be bigger blow hards then Generals, but one had to approach them more delacately at first until they found out they couldn't succeed without you, "This is Scout Sivrak, General Coll has died from wounds inflicted in battle, his last sight his victory. How can we be of service Moff Briven III."

    IC: Rehyn Nejos
    Spaceport, Sentren II

Rehyn was too busy patting himself on the back over the ease of their landing, that he didn't immediately comprehend that the voice he was hearing in his head was actually emitting from the comm unit. He glanced curiously at both Badure and Cappie before angling his chin down towards the console, his brow knitting in thought as he listened to the instructions spewing forth.

?To complete the transaction, Captain Nejos, could you and your crew present themselves at the bottom of the ramp? No offense intended, but the Hutts can be dangerous partners.?

"No kidding," Rehyn grumbled under his breath as he unlatched the safety on the sidearm slapped against his thigh. At least the Hutts paid well and by this point in time, he knew what to expect of them. These people, on the other hand, were still a mystery to him. It was better to be safe than sorry.

That feeling only intensified as he gave into their instruction and headed aft towards the landing ramp. The best way to describe it was a feeling of dread pushing down against his chest. It was a feeling he was all too familiar with and it reminded him of a time he would rather forget. It was a warning.

As he reached the top of the ramp, the weight against his chest became even heavier and his lips parted in a slight gasp. To compensate for the sudden intrusion into his hardened demeanor, Rehyn shifted from foot to foot and waved sloppily for both Badure and Cappie to move ahead of him.

"Nothing funny now," he warned through clenched teeth, blinking his eyes several times to clear his mind. "Keep close and let me do the talking."

With a deep breath, Rehyn willed his legs to move and carry him down to the base of the landing ramp, his eyes darting about in an attempt to locate his contacts.

    Hovel on Tatooine

A mad laughter swept through the flames, as though guiding the fire itself . Obi-Wan knew that voice; it belonged to Aurra Sing. With but a thought he drew his lightsaber to his hand, scrambling away from falling debris as the roof crumbled down above him. Coughing and sputtering from the dust, Obi-Wan pushed the door to his home open hard, stumbling out into bright sunlight. His mind went to the trunk and Anakin's lightsaber stored within. If it was lost, it was lost...but he hoped beyond hope it was not lost. He remembered Qui-Gon's old lesson: keep your concentration here and now, where it belongs. It had been almost thirty years since the blockade of Naboo, but Obi-Wan remembered it well.

He also remembered the old sobriquet bestowed by the holonews networks during the Clone Wars - The Negotiator.

"Aurra! Will you speak with me?"

    Spaceport, Sentren II

Cappie felt compelled to mention the bad feeling she had about this, but she thought better of it as she noticed Rehyn take the safety off his blaster. She motioned for R3-A4 to follow them. "Stay close and do what Nejos says," Cappie whispered to the droid. Cappie had given Ayfor several modifications over the years, and in all honesty, she knew that if there was some kind of scuffle, the droid would probably be more useful than she would.

Cappie wished she had asked Nejos if he had any spare weapons earlier. She should have been more concerned when Badure objected to Rehyn's Hutt contacts, but she didn't mind the Hutts too much. After three years of living on Nar Shaddaa, she'd found that it was often better to work for the Hutts than for one of their rivals But this wasn't Hutt Space anymore, and she didn't know what to expect now. Cappie owned two blasters, but she didn't wear them unless she expected she would need them, and so had left them when her spacebarn was destroyed. She did have a variety of tools on her belt: A hydrospanner, demagnetizer, roll of engine tape, multitool, lasicutter, and power calibrator, but those were hardly better than using a stick or pocket knife. She wasn't a great shot anyway, and she had never had to actually shoot a being, but a blaster would have made her feel a little safer about now. Well, at least Ayfor had a shock arm.

Cappie stepped on to the ramp. "Nothing funny now," Nejos warned through clenched teeth, blinking his eyes several times to clear his mind. "Keep close and let me do the talking." Cappie had no objections. She cautiously moved ahead of him when he gestured so, placing her hands on opposite elbows in apprehension, as though she were cold, and headed to the bottom of the ramp. C'mon, Cap, Sentren couldn't be more dangerous than Nar Shaddaa... she told herself.

? Yes, Lord Vader? Fett answered Vader dryly, walking back into the Slave-I. Taking one brief look back into Taun We?s eyes, he thought he saw a certain satisfaction in her eyes.
Like a school boy who knows his parents will bail out him out of a mess.

Fett shrugged the feeling off. He got paid, it no longer mattered what happened to her, whether she got off or not. Doing a shot walk into his cockpit, Fett gracefully pounded in the commands into his space shuttle. He would be hunting Jedi.

Hunting Jedi was far from an easy task, but it was a rewarding one. Inside a locker on his ship, he knew he had a couple of Sonic grenades. It would be only with them his blaster weapons would stand a chance.

As his ship broke the atmosphere, Fett slammed on the Comlink connecting himself to the Star Destoyer in orbit

?Before you leave, Vader asked you to rely information to me.? Fett asked.

Allen nodded at the Storm Trooper. It was a decent plan, but it needed some modification.

?Agreed, though I?d like a small contingent force to move behind us at all times.? Allen said, lifting the Blaster pistol into air in a gesturing movement.

?It won?t be fun to be ambushed if they have any hidden traps or compartments or the like. We already lost more men then we should have. Also if they attack is in the Clone Center itself, if one group stands by the Observation glass, we would have the option of flanking them. After we enter the tunnel leading to the command center I would like the second team to follow us in.? Allan said looking at the troopers ?Agreed??

Years of service had taught him not to show surprise and he did not when he was asked if he would let billions of clones be made from his DNA to raise another army. Isaac was larger than everyone present and reasearch had shown him that he was larger than most of the Fett clones. It would be interesting and amusing to see giants from his body acids scattered over the galaxy doing the Empire's bidding. It would also make him proud.

However, he did not want to be an aide of some secret that the Empire had not agreed to. Declann was confusing him because there was no one around them, the holocams had been shut down he assumed, and he had just been made aware of the Arkanian. This had all the elements of a secret meeting, something that nobody, not even other Imperials, could know about.

"I serve the Empire, Admiral. I will do what the Empire asks of me, but my only request is that I be placed back on the frontlines, soon. When should I report for duty, Commander?"

Rising out of the atmostphere the sense of the battle was one of despair, as most everyone there knew that death was merely minutes away. It cast something of a pall of despair across the whole area. Then when one considered the fact that the feeling of "clone" was all over the Acclimators Vader was decidedly displeased. Traitors one and all. They will be punished, even if I must see to it personally. First thing first, however. Taun We had to be escorted out of the area.

The first order of business was greatly complicated rather suddenly, as one of the Acclimators broke through the lines of the cruisers. Incompetence! Total incompetence. The Dark Lord of the Sith would have done something quite murderous had there been anyone around for him to kill.

There are things that fighters can do to a large ship, but they generally require maneuvers that would be consdered rather suicidal for most pilots. "Third flight stay on the shuttle, everyone else target the turbolasers and tractor beams. We must get this shuttle out alive at all costs." Vader banked his ship to do as he had instructed. ]i]Now all we need is for vulture droids to remake an appearance on the battlefield. They were one thing that was best left gone and done. It was only a matter of time, most likely.

Vader lined up his ship along the long axis of the ship and prepared to make a run along the line of turbolasers. Trusting to the Force he dove the ship a mere meter above the bulwark of the ship. Time to do the impossible yet again.

    Arkania

Raine's face twisted into a snarl as the entire brigade of clones constricted in front of her. Rather than spread out to overwhelm her with fire, their commander had apparently decided to stop her by simply blocking her way - a crude, but far more effective tactic. The coward scum was buying time with clone lives - and yes ahead, she could see a figure turn and run, robes flapping in the wind.

A blaster bolt nicked her left thigh. Outraged, the Inquisitor gestured with a fist, summoning the Force again - the offending clone and a few unfortunates around him went flying somewhere. Raine didn't bother looking. It was taking all her focus to maintain her defensive screen. Her saber whirled, deflecting bolt after bolt - it was a slugging match now, their concentrated firepower against her sabre skills, and she had never been a master of Soresu.

Suddenly there came a shout from behind, accompanied by a hail of fire. Raine's troops, the clones she had commanded earlier against Serifa - she had entirely forgotten about them, or perhaps she had assumed they were either shooting her or among the dead in the square. But here they were - and they were giving her an out.

    If she wanted it.

They would die to buy her this chance, just as the ones in front of her were doing for their leader.

Pick your battles, kid. There's plenty to choose from. Nuvak's voice echoed out of her memory, one of the few lessons the war-weary Jedi Master had attempted to impart to his assigned apprentice. Raine had long shed most of the Jedi ways without a backward thought, but that one had stuck. It had not helped Nuvak in the end, but it had helped Raine.

She deflected a few more bolts. Then, furious, Raine backed up, allowing her clones to swarm around and in front of her. Once they blocked her view of the battle, the Inquisitor turned and stalked towards her shuttle.

The clone commander - that cowardly, traitorous piece of filth - would pay. Raine would make sure of that.

[blockquote] ?I apologise, Master. But we have decanted from hyperspace, and preventing us from crashing it taking up my attention now. Is that acceptable??

Valara shook her head, sighing in mock disapproval; it seemed she was going to have a combat-challenged apprentice for a while longer. In fact, she was beginning to wonder if he was deliberately avoiding it... But before she had the opportunity to come up with a witty retort, the ship lurched, throwing all three occupants to the floor. Pain flashed through her spine as her back slammed against solid metal. Moments passed as she waited for the agony to subside enough for her to move. She gingerly rolled over, wincing slightly as she pushed herself up carefully onto all fours.

    ?What the -?

    Marl ran for the cockpit as Zeev nudged Valara to make sure she was alright. She smiled, giving him a quick, reassuring scratch behind the ears before staggering to her feet, somewhat stiff and bruised from the fall. Setting off after Marl with the Duuvhal in tow, she had barely taken two steps when the ship rocked again, throwing her into a wall. Zeev squawked with indignation as Valara rubbed her shoulder instinctively - one more set of bruises certainly didn't add anymore to her discomfort - before setting off again in a more wary manner. Arriving on the bridge, she saw Marl frantically pressing buttons on the control panel;

"We?re losing hull integrity. We?ve been hit by what look like cannon shots and we?ve lost the starboard engines??

Valara walked shakily to his side, rubbing her spine, thoughts cascading into her consciousness. Canon shots? How did anyone even know they were coming? After all, they'd only just dropped out of hyperspace. She frowned as she watched Marl send a distress call, only to be given a no-go by the ship's computer. And who was blocking their communications? Valara glanced out the cockpit, wondering if there was any clue as to their attacker's identity.

?System-wide jamming?? Marl stated to himself, the words hardly impacting on Valara as she tried to absorb what she was seeing.

    "Marl?"

He looked up, and went very pale. A sea of assault ships floated menacingly in the black sea of stars. Below them lay a planet that looked to have seen better days, ravaged by war and turned into one gigantic factory. This must be Seswenna, she guessed. And from Marl's reaction, it hadn't looked like this the last time he was here...

    ?By the Force??

The Force? Now that was another matter entirely. Despite the chaos that had enveloped them, Valara sensed a sudden lightening, a ray of sunlight through blackened storm clouds. Why or where it emanated from, she could not guess.

    "Did you...?"

After a moment's pause, Valara shook her head. Marl was so new to the Force, not to mention absorbed in the danger around them, that he most likely hadn't sensed the fluctuation. "Never mind." Now was not the time to study it. Instead she weighed their immediate options; strike out for the planet and hope they made it out of this mess, or find somewhere else to hide. Valara smiled wryly; I did ask him where we could hide from the Empire, not hand ourselves to them on a plate. Still, he seemed to be as shocked by their presence as she. Reconsidering, she struck off the second 'option' - those floating arsenals probably had a trick or two to stop them from leaving, which left them with only one option.

"If you can get us to the surface, I can hold off any fighters with the turrets."

With that she stiffly made her way to the ladder leading to the top-most turret controls. "It's certainly been a while since I last had to use one of these," she m

    Imperial Center Alien Zone, Core

?Call me honey again, and I?ll slash your throat, and hire myself a new pilot. My name is Sylva.? Nick laughed, a cold, short laugh, weighed down by all the years of warfare he'd encountered. Of all the betrayals, and the terror, and the pure malevolence that was Darth Vader. Now he was someone elses puppet. Pulled on strings, no rhyme or reason. Nick sighed.

"Sorry, I have been a little grouchy since I had an Imperial slave chip placed in my head." Nick grimaced. Everyone knew what that meant. One false move and your head could be used for the mush babies eat. The feeling of servitude was the most irritating thing he'd encountered since Kar Vastor. 'Sylva' was as cold as steel, he had no doubt of that - she would kill him if she could.

?We are going to the Sentren system. I assume you know where that is. Otherwise, we are going to need to detour to a trade planet. Preferably Nar Shaddaa.?

Nick pulled up the limited hyperspace navicomputer. "Sentren, Sentren. Quite populated planet between Bothawui and the Run, I recall. I saw some action near there during the war..." Nick trailed off. "Nope. I can't find any decent coordinates in this hunk of junk." Nick idly started punching in numbers as he took the ship out-system.

"Whoa. Nifty hyperdrive on this one. We'll make it to Nal Hutta in less than an hour." Nick raised his voice, actually talking to Sylva this time. "Don't mind if I make my way via Ando, Sylva? Save me some time, and all that."

"Oh," he added, as an aside. "I know you're lying about your name. Pretty obvious lie. But I ain't going to pry. But we're all slaves here. Slaves of the Empire. I thought a Cathar like you would have worked that out after eight years of an Emperor."

    The vessel roared into hyperspace.

The moment they touched the base of the ramp Alex understood that they'd definitely been setup. When all four of them were far enough away from the ship, the Quarren meeting them multiplied into three, and the cargo containers off to the sides unveiled more than a dozen Wookies, Nosaurians and a single human - Corellian, if the bloodstripes on his legs meant anything. All armed. All pointing the weapons at the four of them. Ayfour twittered a nervous tune.

"Ah," said Alex, unimpressed, whispering the rest of his comments. "Well done, Rehyn. Cappie, stay close. Keep the droid in-front of you, if you can." Alex had fought a war with droids; he had no compunction of using them as 'human' shields.

The Quarren strode forward, his tentacles writhing, stopping a safe distance away from the crew. Rehyn would recognise the expression as one of stress and despair, from his days among the Jedi. Alex had no idea what was wrong with Squidhead. The Quarren spoke, his voice rasping on the water in his throat. "I apologise for this, Captain Nejos. We have no ability to pay you, and never paid you in the first place, I'm afraid. We're requisitioning the weapons for the war effort."

The Hutts were not going to like that.

Blaster fire rang out, far away, deeper in the spaceport complex, closer to the doors. "Armed siege. Imperials covering it up, hoping we'll run away rather than fight." His face-tentacles rippled with amusement. "There are very few troopers on-world, you see - so we don't need to run. We simply needed enough weapons to arm the streets. My name is Tikkes, Captain. Are there any traps you'd like to inform me of?"

Aftermath of the Battle of Ando, Ando System, aboard Imperial Shuttle

He listened to the apathetic reply of a politician, whoever said they should get their own star destroyers must have been another politician because no clear headed warrior would want to have to put up with them if they got assigned your ship. Another reason why he loved being 'just' a ground pounder, one avoided direct interaction with the 'higher up' lizard-monkeys of the beaurocratic system.

The clone looked at Tagg, noticing that another shuttle was rising up from the surface - their support - and another, escorted by a squadron of modern TIE fighters and sporting its own blast marks, was moving towards their position, Recce indicating on the sensors as such.

"Your three shuttles are to immediately proceed to Coruscant once in position. Is that acceptable, Scout Sivrak?" The Moff made no comment of payment, obviously assuming that the Scout was a simple Imperial.
All which he took in stride, up to the lack of payment waiting or accounts accredited. Many things he may be but a simple Imperial was not one of them

He barked out a short laugh knowing it was best to convey both his disregard for a Moff and his status as an Alien, perhaps the guy had enough of a head left over to look at his file before responding again? "Almost your Moffship, you forgot the mention of hazard pay and whether it would be in direct cred or account transfers."

He went ahead and motioned for Recce to get them moving roughly in the general direction of the nearest hyperspace exit toward the Core.

Arden hadn?t responded to Nick?s comment about being an Imperial slave, but she wondered about the authenticity of his claim. She wasn?t even sure he was being serious, but Arden didn?t dare mention anything that would compromise her past.

Nick murmured under his breath, and then said to Arden, ?Nope. I can't find any decent coordinates in this hunk of junk.? Arden didn?t respond, but waited. He continued talking to himself, for tick, before regarding Arden, again. ?Don't mind if I make my way via Ando, Sylva? Save me some time, and all that.?

To this, Arden nodded and said, ?Buy all means, save as much time as you wish.? She took a moment to look at Nick. He was a scarred, but handsome man with shaved black hair and blue eyes, and other than that, appeared as nothing but average. Arden looked away, but Nick brought her attention back to him, by speaking again. He said, ?I know you're lying about your name. Pretty obvious lie. But I ain't going to pry. But we're all slaves here. Slaves of the Empire. I thought a Cathar like you would have worked that out after eight years of an Emperor.?

Arden stared hard at Nick, silent as usual, but actually regarding him with clear interest, now. He spoke like a man who had suffered as much as Arden had, and meeting someone as battered as her, was intriguing. Plus, Nick was speaking honestly. Even though she wasn?t being directly controlled by the Empire, they had Arden on the run. She nodded, mostly to her self and slowly opened her mouth. She said, ?My name is Arden Lai.? Arden looked forward, out the bow observation window.

"Cappie, stay close. Keep the droid in-front of you, if you can," Alex said. Cappie would have been very offended if she had caught Alex's implication that her friend Ayfor be used as cannon fodder, but she assumed he was just implying that Ayfor would be able to cover them well. As the menacing-looking beings appeared from behind crates and the like, she was too nervous to think about it anyway.

But as soon as the Quarren began apologizing, it became apparent that Cappie and her friends were not going to be shot, (at least not right away), and she became very relieved. She breathed a small sigh as the Quarren went on. She was so relieved that she let her mind relax momentarily, and missed part of what the Quarren had said. She caught something about requisitioning the weapons, and then the rest of it, about Imperials laying siege to the spaceport. The Quarren sounded like he had things somewhat under control, but suddenly Cappie was a lot less relieved. She was kind of confused by the whole thing, but it was apparent that these weren't the Hutts Rehyn was supposed to be meeting.

"Rehyn, do you know these guys?" she whispered out the side of her mouth. "What is this? Are we conscripted now or something?" Surely the Quarren didn't expect them to help fight the Imps... But even then, she wondered, would they be able to take off again with the Imperial presence here?

OOC: sorry for the absence guys, school and track have gotten in the way of me posting in the evening.

    IC: Kay Koda
Ithaqua Station / Toola/ Outer Rim

As Kay darted up the steps he suddenly felt danger flood the Force. He was swatted into the wall as the communications room came into view, an Inquisitor emerging. Looking grim, the man scowled at Kay.

?Of course - a Jedi ploy. You?ve allied with the Kaminoans to wipe out the Empire. Not content with jamming the planet from the galaxy, you come to kill me too? I, Petlin Vorn, will not fall!? The Dark Jedi activated two crimson blades and screamed, a Force ripple slamming into Kay.

Kay was thrown down the stairs he had just climbed, his back slamming into the wall at the bottom on the stair case. The collision into the wall only phased Kay for a second due to the force sustaining Kay and his body; it helped him relieve most of the impact. Kay recovered, staggering to his feet; his hand limply pulled the lightsaber from his belt, igniting it, the blue blade illuminating the dark stair well. Kay began to stagger up the stair well towards his new found opponent, the Inquisitor.

?I am not your enemy, I have not come to kill you, and I am not allied with the Kaminoans, but if you do not step out of my way Sith then I will have no other choice but to kill you,? said Kay slowly closing the distance between him and his opponent. Kay tried reasoning with this Petlin Vorn, if only to close the distance between them and to hopefully get him to let his guard down, which if it worked correctly, would give Kay and opening.

?I have come here not for battle but for alliance. I am not yours or the Empire?s enemy at this moment, but it is them, those clones outside who you should fear. They are the invaders; they are the killers, not me. I will ask you Inquisitor, will killing me bring you any more closer to defeating this threat? Will it make a bit of difference to kill me, an exiled Jedi? We need to be focusing on the matter at hand, not trying to kill each other over different beliefs. You can come and hunt me down any day, but today we need to defeat this army and save the people of Toola. So either be with me or against me Sith, but do not think that you are strong enough to stop me from reaching that comm. room. The choice is up to you Inquisitor,? said Kay as he began closing the distance. Not he just had to see how this Inquisitor would react.

~Aboard the Corellian Mantle, Descending to Sesswenna, Outer Rim~

[blockquote] Valara sensed a great deal of confusion from Marl, which was unsurprising given what he'd been through. All she'd had to deal with was the revelation that it wasn't just Palpatine who wanted her dead, and that didn't make all that much difference in the greater scheme of things. Sure, she had been hit by the senseless murder of Marl's crew, but they were acquaintances, not close friends who'd saved her skin countless times. No, now she thought about it, these had been some of the best times in recent memory. For the first time in a long while, she had someone to talk to, to watch her back, someone to pass on her knowledge to. Valara shook her head; these things were all well and good, but she couldn't let herself get emotionally attached so easily. Love clouded judgement, she had learnt that one already, hadn't she? It was her love for Zeran that blinded her to what he had become. Or what he had been all along.

Reaching the top of the ladder, Valara spotted three fighters as she lowered herself into the turret seat. Throwing on the comm. headset, she told Marl she was ready, and grabbed the turret triggers. The ship tilted as Marl angled to give her a better shot. Perfect; now all she had to do was wait for them to get close enough...

"This is going to be bumpy!"

Marl's voice crackled over the comm. as the ship began to shudder by way of confirmation; Valara guessed it was probably as much from the damage she'd sustained as the force of entering Seswenna's atmosphere.

"That would be one way of putting it..."

The targeting grid flickered to tell her that the fighters had finally entered the range of the turrets. Taking a deep breath, Valara closed her eyes, searching for the craft through the Force. She found them easily enough, the pilot's vicious intent easily distinguishable amidst the cold indifference of their superiors aboard the Acclamators. Valara gave the triggers a quick squeeze, sending a torrent of laser fire directly into the path of the incoming fighters. Thanks to the pilots' complacently bunched formation, the first round hit the leader square on. There was a flash of light as a fireball lit up the inky black, followed by a second as one wingman failed to dodge the carnage. Two down, one to go; but the last one wouldn't be as easy, especially now he was aware that the Mantle's turrets were fully operational. The remaining wingman pulled up, speeding round for a second pass. He was certainly determined, if a little stupid, Valara mused. Coming in full throttle, the fighter scored a round of hits on the ship, weaving between Valara's fire with surprising dexterity. But as the fighter sped away for a third pass, another burst of fire from the Mantle's turret caught the ship's thrusters, sending the smaller craft hurtling past them, plummeting planet-ward.

Valara leaned back in the turret seat, running her hands through her hair. She couldn't sense any more fighters approaching, not that it would be worth sending out another wing when they were so close to the planet. Easier to send in the ground-based welcoming committee; I suppose I'd better get ready to meet them. Putting the comm. headset down, Valara swung onto the ladder and began her descent to the cockpit to retrieve her quarterstaff.[/blockquote]

    Spaceport, Sentren II

Rehyn sighed, ignoring the comment from Badure and focusing solely on the hulking beings that had crawled out from behind canisters and other equipment littering the landing bay. He had to really start paying more attention to the warning signs the Force threw upon him. He resisted its call to avoid getting caught, but in an instance like this, it didn't really matter what he did. They were already trapped.

The Quarren stepped forward and even before he began to speak, Rehyn could tell that he was nervous and stressed. There was something he was hiding and the explanation he finally croaked out was just a scratch on the surface. Sure, the news about getting screwed out of his pay day and losing a whole lot of revenue for the Hutts was bad enough, but he was more concerned about the idea of Imperial stormtroopers roaming the streets.

Narrowing his eyes, he fixed the Quarren, Tikkes, with a fixed stare and stretched out towards his mind, attempting to get a read on what was making the traitor tick. Maybe a lead of some sort. Anything to put the pieces of this mystery together so that it would make some kind of sense.

"Rehyn, do you know these guys?" a voice suddenly broke into this thoughts. Rehyn tried to hold his concentration but ultimately, he gave up. His friends were more important. "What is this? Are we conscripted now or something?"

He blinked his eyes a few times and turned to regard Cappie. "Never seen 'em in my life," he sneered out of the corner of his mouth. "Just stick close and I'll find out what we're in for."

Spreading his hands innocently, Rehyn returned his glare to the Quarren. "No trap, Tikkes," he began carefully, keeping a close eye on the other's expression to try and gauge his reactions. "I don't want any trouble for me or my crew. I'm just interested in getting some answers, alright?" He gestured accusingly with his chin as he dared to take a step forward. "Now, you seem quite eager to rush in here and take my loot. I'm not gonna judge you for that. I just wanna know what you think you're gonna accomplish by making a stand against Imperial stormtroopers. You think you have a chance in winning?"

This would be fun. Very fun indeed.

With a flip of a switch, the Slave-I entered Hyper Space, and as it did a sly grin spread across Fett's face.

"Adenn, I want you and 5 men to breach that door." Allan muttered sharply, as he and his men headed across the cloning vats. They had another three on top to give them a nice flanking position, in case the Kamino clones decided to charge.

He could only hope they would though. With him and three other men hiding behind the cylinder vats themselves, along witht he rest of the men, it would allow him to fire at his enemy from all angles while they where trapped in the narrow hallway in the Kamino Prime Minster's Control room. they might get a few shots at the first group, but in minutes there force would be wiped out.

All and all it was a good thing to wish for.

    Hyperspace, en route to Ando

    ?My name is Arden Lai.?

Nick nodded, accepting the truth. "Pretty name. So what can we talk about? You sound pretty heavy - like me. Worn. War and all that." Nick grinned despite himself - Force, he sounded so banal. How could he summarise Kar Vastor, the Clone Wars, Even Piell and being Darth Vader's personal pawn as 'heavy?' And that didn't even take into account that his homeworld had been battered further into the dark ages by a planetary bombardment only slightly as scathing as the one which destroyed Caamas. Only in the Emberlene bracket.

Nick sighed. "I'm chatty. Can't help it. I get more chatty when I'm nervous."

"We'll be decanting from hyperspace in a moment, anyway." A hologram suddenly appeared - old Moon-hat again, his elderly eyes showing. Nick resisted the urge to swear in surprise as it swam into existence between him and Arden.

"I see you're arriving at the Ando system. I expect you to arrive, reorient, and jump immediately. Do not communicate with anyone." Nick went to speak, and then the hologram vanished. He looked at the displays, trying to figure out how someone had commed them in hyperspace.

"Kriff," said Nick, surprised. "It's a recording, Arden. He knew we would go to Ando... how?"

Aftermath of the Battle of Ando, Ando System, aboard Imperial Shuttle

"Almost your Moffship, you forgot the mention of hazard pay and whether it would be in direct cred or account transfers."

The line fell silent. Recce facepalmed, slapping his helmet in despair. Moff Briven III spoke, coldly. "A merc escorting our clonemasters? This simply won't do. I'm transferring the mission from you to whatever clone you have piloting your ship. I'm not paying for your services, Sivrak."

The voice couldn't have got more haughty if it tried, and he routed his voice into Recce's helmet. "Clone, push the merc out an airlock. Now." It was in that exact moment that Nick and Arden decanted from hyperspace, slap bang in the middle of the shuttle formation.

Briven snapped out over the public channels. "Get those Kaminoans out of the way!" The new arrival swerved, and Recce grabbed at the controls, trying to get their ship out of the way, the new arrival clipping the stormtrooper transport. "You are hereby ordered to stand down, unidentified pilot!" The Star Destroyer began to ponderously reorient, preparing weapons to destroy the shuttle the moment the formation managed to avoid crashing.

    --
    Arden

Nick was indeed swearing, expletives filling his ship as he ordered Arden to strap in. Briven's voice came across the comm. channels. "Surrender, or be destroyed!"

"No time, no time." Nick slapped the controls, pushing the shuttle into hyperspace to the Sentren system.

    --
    Sivrak

It was a few moments of complete chaos, and then Briven cut across the comm. channels. "Sivrak, I need you to follow that shuttle. It's leapt to the Sentren system, and communications have been cut-off. We'll pay you a finders fee, and whatever else you want. The Stormtroopers are going with the clonemasters coreward - I still need to get back to Arkanian."

"If you don't have any questions, then go! Now!"

On Recce's private channel, Briven spoke, again. "Kill the merc when you have secured that rogue shuttle. After everything is settled down. It will damage the Empire to have a merc as a hero. Those are your orders. Fulfil them."

    Leaving Arkania

Raine's black mood followed her into the shuttle. 4-X had already powered up and lifted off almost before she got to the cockpit, leaving her with nothing to do but strap in and be a passenger. Ordinarily she would have approved of the droid's initiative - or self-preservation skills, however you wanted to call it - but circumstances were far from ordinary.

She didn't want to be a passenger. She wanted to kill something, preferably the traitorous Arkanian commander. But no, she could not: she had forfeited that chance by getting away, and the only thing she could do now was take the bureaucrat's route and file a report against him. With deliberate care Raine keyed the comm board to her left. Her other fist, the human one, was clenched so tight she could feel her nails dig into her palm even through the gloves she wore -

"Mistress Vartan, the system has lost communications," the droid reported. Raine wanted to destroy it too, right then and there, but strangled that impulse before it could manifest in a bolt of lightning. Calm, calm; anger would not serve here, and was best saved for circumstances where it could be used to accomplish something. She squashed it down with effort and focused on the sensor boards, which 4-X was pointing at as it spoke, even as they weaved across streams of turbolaser fire.

As Raine studied the display, it dawned on her how big this was. This was not a mere incidence of treason, of a local commander taking matters into his own hands for whatever insane reason - this was a coup, and a well-orchestrated one at that. It was only through chance that Raine had discovered it, that her assignment to Arkania had coincided with the hammer's fall. An hour later and she would have left none the wiser; an hour earlier and she would not have been able to land ...

I understand, Raine thought. She did not understand everything, of course: but she understood enough. The clones, the Indefatigable - Kamino had never been the true centre of the clone rebellion. That had been a distraction, nothing more. In fact, Arkania might not be the centre, either, but the beginning of ... what?

"My lady, I recommend we jump to hyperspace as soon as possible." More and more ships were jumping into the system, the latest arrivals being a pair of Corellian Detainers with their gravity well projectors. Now or never; in moments they would be trapped.

Her orders were to go to Bpfassh to hunt more Jedi. But this widespread rebellion was more pressing.

Even as Raine wavered, she felt a sudden, gentle shift in the Force, a change so delicate she at first thought she had missed it. It was nothing, really - the equivalent of a soft breeze, a ray of sunshine on a stormy day - and it was everything. Raine felt her mind clear, the destructive, barely controllable anger melt away as if it had never existed, and she knew what she had to do.

"Set course to Kamino," Raine ordered. "Jump as soon as you can." Lord Vader was there, with all the Empire's strength. The sooner she got the news to him, the better.

All the corpses of clones - both Kaminoan and Imperial - that littered the corridors as they went made the trek a bit tense for Adenn, what with the sergeant expecting another trap or possibly a survivor to suddenly start moving. Neither happened though which Adenn was both grateful for yet made him wonder if the Kaminoans were really in such bad a shape that they barely had anything to defend themselves with.

The veteran had made sure to order his team to grab any spare ammo and weapons from the dead. He himself grabbed some spare power packs for his DC-15A rifle, a thermal detonator, and, after a thought, he retrieved an E-11 as well. Whether they managed to get Lama Su or not, they were going to need all the equipment that they could get. Reinforcements weren't going to be coming anytime soon and as far as Adenn knew, he, Allen, and the troopers that made up their teams were the only ones that were fit to fight.

"Adenn, I want you and 5 men to breach that door."

"Affirmative," Adenn replied as he and the troopers of his team moved towards the door that Allen had specified. Adenn muttered an order of his own and one of the stormtroopers quietly moved forward and placed a charge on the door.

It was only when the charge had been set up did Adenn think that maybe he should've gotten a helmet from the dead stormtroopers that they passed; his head was still helmetless. Keeping his rifle tight against his shoulder, Adenn tilted his head to the side, pressing his right ear against his shoulder while his free hand put a finger in his left to try and help deafen the upcoming detonation.

"Blow it," Adenn ordered, and the trooper that set the charge did so, clicking the detonator and causing the door to suddenly disappear in fire. What happened next was what they had all been taught. Adenn ran up to the destroyed entrance, pressing his back to one side of the doorway before he raised the sights of his DC up to his face, targeted the enemy clones within, and started firing to give cover fire for his team as they charged in.

"Not paying bonus' you mean." was his only reply to the first part, Recce seemed to be having helmet issues but hopefully this would all resolve itself soon.

A shuttle appeared insueing chaos in their little formation, worked better than the reminder about dislike assassination discounts clause in his contract he had been planning...although Recce probably would had more helmet trouble from that one.

"No problem, and not a merc. I'm a special contractor that has been in service since the Clone Wars to the Republic and the First Galactic Empire. I just had the sense when I signed up to add bonus pay clauses, now if you'll excuse us Recce and I have a shuttle to track down and your welcome for the destruction of the two Acclamaitors and turning the tide on Ando threw public address. Sivrak out." using the hand gesture for go now, move it, move it! He took the weapons seat behind Recce as they raced after a new quary.
