Is 1138 in the Indiana Jones films? If so where? Sorry if this has been posted before.
Good question. Since Spielberg directed it I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't there.
It should be since GL wrote it or something. Someody said he might've heard a German shout "Ein ein drei ocht" or something.

Do we get Spielberg's "trademark" shooting star?
In Temple of Doom, on a ridge above the India village when Indy tells Shorty, "fortune and glory kid, fortune and glory." There's a shooting star in the sky there.
Spielberg has a trademark?
Shooting stars, and usually a bad/absent father theme somewhere with some character/s...
Can we get back to 1138?
> Can we get back to 1138?
As said, George only wrote it, he wasn't behind the camera. I doubt he'd put in a script "ensure there's a licence plate on that Nazi truck that says thx-1138". Though ILM did the effects so they may have snuck something in.
Of course there are other little tributes such as the R2 & 3PO heiroglyphics in Raiders & Club Obi-Wan in Temple that probably "took the place" of 1138 as Lucas inspired in-jokes.
Heh. Wonderful thing a google.com search.
In the scene where Indy is fighting the big bald guy. While the plane is spinning around. If you look at the wing number of the plane. You will see that the number is THX-1138.
Can anyone confirm?
I've had a look, and I can't even see any numbers, let alone 1138! Maybe in widescreen?
I had a look last night too. There's no THX-1138 on the wing as written at eeggs.com.
Someone has an overactive imagination.
"Someody said he might've heard a German shout "Ein ein drei ocht" or something."
From my rudimentary understanding of German, there is a lot of profanity being thrown around...but no serial numbers!
So we can pretty much give up then?
Yes. Yes we can.
Someonesays 1138 in germen
movie mistakes.com said so
Well, if an internet site says it's true, it must be.
Got any more details of when in the movie this allegedly happens?
EDIT: OK, went to the site mentioned above. Here's what it says;
Another THX-1138 reference from George Lucas: When Indy gets off the Nazi Sub inside the hidden dock, you can hear over the loudspeaker, "ein, ein, drei, acht." (German for one-one-three-eight.)
Can anyone confirm before I get home to listen for myself in 2 hours?
Watched the widescreen "Raiders" (on broadcast TV) last night.
No 1138 on the plane wing, no discernable ein-ein-drei-acht over the loudspeaker system in the Nazi submarine base.
I think the nods to Lucas from Speilberg are the R2-CPO plane code number, the droid/Princess Leia heiroglyphics, & club Obi-Wan in Temple.
Where in the movies do we see these nods? I have all three, and I'd like to spot that stuff, hehe.
1. the R2-CPO plane code number is on the water-plane that Indy swims for at the start of Raiders.
2. the droid/Princess Leia heiroglyphics are on the wall in the well of souls when the Ark is found
3. The neon "club Obi-Wan" in Temple is seen at the start of the movie, most noteably as Indy & Willie fall through teh awnings & Short Round drives off.
'Up' to save from auto-relocking.
Aha! I'd always heard of the hyroglyphics of the droids, but never saw it. Thanks!

That means R2-D2 and C-3PO must have somehow landed on Earth a long, long, time ago!!!
Small galaxy, ain't it!
