Sth Bend, IN 2001: An Internet Odyssey

This internet archive stuff is so much fun for me, I had to start a new thread. There's so much...WSBT with Mike Collins, Charlie Adams, and Luke Choate still on staff, ND announcing the firing of a head coach, and the non-existence of the Bane of All Cubs Fans.

 

Just a suggestion,

but, I wonder how long google will let this go on,


or

can the old search google offers now,

be saved as a link for ongoing future use.

 

According to the Google 2001 FAQ:

How long will this service be available?

One month. It's kind of lame to be celebrating a mid-September birthday in late October, don't you think?


Apparently Google 2001 uses archive.org, which isn't keyword-searchable (as far as I know). Their FAQ says:

Can I search the Archive?

Using the Internet Archive Wayback Machine, it is possible to search for the names of sites contained in the Archive (URLs) and to specify date ranges for your search. We hope to implement a full text search engine at some point in the future.


All in all, I think this is a cool feature of the internet, to go back in time. It allows us to relive good memories.

 

Google has taken the 2001 search engine off its home page, but it's still accessible here.
