    Q_X: It's definitely a relationship, but it's a way of life, so it's also a religion.

Politics, never trust the government unless you're overthrowing it.

I can just see trying to overthrow the government, hehe...I'd get thrown in the loony bin for running in with a homemade lightsaber and screaming about the Empire... ;) Of course, if ALL the SW fans stormed Washington...

Oh...yesterday, the almost-full moon was still out mid-morning, and someone on some radio station was talking about it and said, "If it IS the moon...but we begged Princess Leia not to give away Earth's coordinates!" SW insanity is spreading...

Religion: Atheist, and since all of you are resonably nice people, I'm not going to go into my opinions on religion.

Politics: I hate them all, but currently I agree more with Democratic sentiments than Republican (Plus I think Bush is a horible President, and I am really pissed off at all the idiots shouting about how it's unpatriotic to dislike the government/president). If I could have voted, I would have voted for Nater because the other two were idiots, and he has a cool name :)

Fine Wine: Uh, I'm only 14. So naturally, I make my own wine in the cellar.

    Oookay... ;)

Religion: Roman Catholic, I come from a Catholic family; I was baptized secretly at night (I was born in Communism, mind you... ;) We got rid of it in 1989, I was 6 at that time... WOHOO!!! :D ::shows the "V" sign with her fingers:: :D)

Politics: Hate it. Maybe because Slovakia's politics is all screwed up. Boy, you guys in America are quite lucky... you've always had the Democrats and Republicans, two big strong groups (well, maybe a couple minor ones too...). In Slovakia, we have ZILLION political parties, it's like a fashion or something... ::shakes her head:: Oh, let's start a political party! We need three people to found it, and ten thousand people to vote for us to make us legal! ::rolls her eyes:: Sheesh... And don't, please don't stick together with the Communists! I'm telling you, there's nothing worse than 40 years of Communism (that's how it was with Czechoslovakia). ::sighs:: OK, but that's a way too long story to talk about here... ;)

And finally, fine wine: Mmmmmm.... ;) :D I like good wine, especially red wine. My favorite is Cabernet Sauvignon, and Rhenish Riesling (I've drank the ORIGINAL Rhenish Riesling only once in my life, but I'm telling you, it's worth its title, "The King of Wines") ;) :D :)

    Religion: Roman Catholic, baby!!

Politics: The Roman Empire. Could've been the perfect government.

Fine wine: Even though I'm only 14, I have tried wine, and enjoy the following:

    Cabernet
    Chardonnay
    Merlot
Some other red wine that I can't remember the name of

Umm, Mar, we haven't always had the Democrats and the Republicans. When the country started, we had the Federalists and the Democratic-Republicans. Then, after Alexander Hamilton died as a result of a duel with Aaron Burr, the Federalist party fizzled out, and the Whigs tried to take their place. Somewhere along the line, the Democratic-Republicans decided to drop the Republican part, and in the time leading up to the American Civil War, the Republican party (the liberals of the nineteenth century, can you imagine?) came into being. Since then, we've had those two parties, with other small parties trying to form occasionally.

And that, in a nutshell, is the history of political parties in America.

Mel, I know about that. :) What I meant to say is, that you always had 2 (3 at most) strong political parties at a time. Not like 10 or something we have in our Parliament... :p ::sighs:: Sith take Slovak politics... ;) :D

Oh, and thanks, Ghent! :) :) :) ::returns smiles:: :D

Of course, when there's only two parties, everyone is really biased and says that only one is completely right and the other is completely wrong... :(

But I dunno- here most of us aren't even old enough to vote, and we're already not trusting the government! ;)

to Peter: Yeah! I'm there for six weeks and you have to come see some of our concerts! (and of course the OTHER great people who play at T'wood. Like the T'ang Quartet. ahem.)

to Ish: do you know Emily then? she's at NEC now, but she'd be a bit younger than you (my age almost exactly)...

and this was quite the delayed reply on my part. sorry everyone. to reply to the more recent postings--

    religion: Roman Catholic. yay!

politics: currently wishing I could bring reform to the Singaporean government. Although no, I'm not in Singapore.

fine wine: Grantaire! only he's more the absinthe type, eh, Ish?

Mar, I would think many political parties to chose from would be better than two that frequently don't turn out the kind of candidate we want.

As they always say, the other Shaltanacs joopleberry shrub is always a more mauvy shade of pinky russet. (Bonus Points and a little gold star to whoever knows where that's from. It should be easy :))

You're right, Ghent, but too much political parties sucks... [face_plain] ;) And they're always bickering like little children...

I remember when TPM came to Slovakia in November 1999 (yes, that late - and more, it was dubbed in terrible Slovak dub), I went to see it with my friend. During the scene where Palpy talks to Amidala in his quarters (about the corrupt politicians), he said: "You sure that the screenwriter for this haven't been in Slovakia for inspiration for that?" And when the Senate scene came, he said: "I was right! Look - exactly like our Parliament." :p It was funny.

Really terrible. The translation was very poor (it has always been problem to dub any SW movie properly), and the only two voices that actually suited the actors were Qui-Gon's and Obi-Wan's. The girl who dubbed Amidala/Padme didn't even BOTHER to make them sound differently. ::sighs:: Can you imagine Amidala talking in this really high and squeaky voice? Force, even Padme's voice wasn't that thin! It spoiled all the surprise when Padme revealed herself to be the Queen. And Jar Jar... I know that people hate Jar Jar, but he sounded at least a bit funny. In Slovak dub, he wasn't even funny; he was just plain stupid. And don't make me start about Yoda... :( ::starts crying:: What has he done to deserve such horrible dub??? :_| The problem is that it's PG. All the GA and PG movies are dubbed, because they're "suitable for children" (in Slovakia's rating), and they must be dubbed because kids can't read the subtitles fast enough. PG-13 are "not suitable for children under 12", and are not dubbed (mostly). R are "no children under 15" and NC-17 are "no children under 18". That's Slovakia's rating system.

Anyways, the dub was horrible, and I'm fearing May 16th... [face_plain] I wish they also distributed the original movie and not just the dubbed...

Ughh, sounds terrible. I always find it easier to just read subtitles than listen to this harrible dubbing that obvios didn't have any effort put into.
I've always wondered why NC-17 is no one under 18. If it's no one under 18, why is 17 in it's name? Does the 17 refer to something other than age?

Well, I think that in USA the limit for NC-17 is 17. I just tried to compare the two different rating systems. :) We have basically 4 rating categories:

    - suitable for children
    - not suitable for children under 12
    - no children under 15
    - no children under 18

    :)

NC-17 movies are basically your pornos, etc. I don't think anyone under 18 is allowed, even if accompanied by an adult.

ya, I'm pretty sure it's no one under 18, even in the US. Maybe when they invented it, it was no one nder 17.
