2001 Original Character Awards

I would like to thank those who nominated and voted for my charcters; Rokangus, Sara Kenobi, Padawan Di-Lee, Grand Admiral Jaxx, PadawanElf, and Jaded of Mara. It means alot to me that you nominated and voted for a very unusual, very unorthadox, and very intriging Jedi Knight. It means that what I doing is reaching you guys, you enjoy the character and the stories she's in. Unfortunately it wasn't enough this time out so I have to get even more unusual, more unorthadox, and even more intriging with the Funnyrump Assassin herself, Nadja Moranna.

BTW~ I am keeping Nadja restrained from mooning everyone. She's such a sore loser.

I will humbly congratulate those who won tonight. Obviously your efforts were greater and you achieved enough with the characters. I mean it's obvious those who won got the most votes meaning the character targeted enought people to win. So you are doing the right with your characters, don't change them.

 

::As almost everyone is about to leave, the door opens and Mar walks in. She's wearing a long dark green robe with bare shoulders and long dark green gloves, her brown hair is done up in an elaborate hairstyle. She wears a golden necklace with emeralds and emerald earrings.::

Mar: Hi everybody! I know I missed the Awards, but time difference is a sith. Anyways. I believe that party is still here... Now where's my date...

::Next to Mar, a tall dashing young man appears. He has short brown hair, sparkling brown eyes, and he's wearing an elegant black tuxedo::

Mar: There you are, Jerdin!

Jerdin: (grins to show his perfect snow-white teeth) You wouldn't think I'd let you down, would you?

Mar: Of course not.

::She giggles and Jerdin offers her an arm::

Jerdin: Shall we go?

Mar: Yes, dear.

::Mar takes Jerdin's arm and they walk over to the ItMF table, which now seems deserted. ( ) The waiter brings two glasses of champagne.::

Mar: Thank you. First, I want to say big CONGRATULATIONS to all the winners, especially to Am and SOT authors. GREAT JOB, EVERYONE!!! And thank you to all who voted for Maya, Jerdin and Alia. ::exchanges meaningful glances with Jerdin:: Maya is the best non-Force-sensitive OC, Jerdin is the best male OC, Alia is the best Force-sensitive OC and the best child OC... WOW, so many awards, that's great! And a big THANK YOU to those who voted for someone else on the Best Villain (and not Jerdin)!

Jerdin: (almost chokes on his champagne) What? You mean I was nominated for the best villain???

Mar: (sighs) Yes. It's all because of TJG and Fruity. ::throws angry glances at the two::

Jerdin: (shaking his head) I can't imagine what makes them think THAT.

Mar: Me neither. They're having delusions of grandeur. ::smirks at him:: But only you, I, and Am know the real truth...

Jerdin: (smiles too) Absolutely. ::kisses gently her cheek::

Mar: (blushes and hisses) Not here...

Jerdin: (laughs) Okay, okay. ::tango begins to play:: Would you like to dance?

Mar: Tango? Any time.

::They both stand up, walk to the dance floor and start dancing. Jerdin is a great dancer, the long skirt of Mar's green dress flowing around.::

Mar: You never told me... you can dance that good...

Jerdin: (bends Mar over his arm, her head almost touching the ground) You know what? You talk too much.

Mar: (laughs) Shut up. That's Obi's line.

::Jerdin grins and they continue dancing::

Hai Gan sidles in at the back following a distant cry of 'Mum? Can I use the computer? Pleeeeease?', trailing crunchy-nut cornflakes and an unidentifiable lego construction in her wake and hoping nobody will notice her. A tall, dark young man with a padawan braid, a cheeky grin and a disreputable mop of hair grabs her by the hand and drags her, protesting, to the front.

"Go on!" he says, pushing her forwards, "you still got time ta say something! The show ain't over 'til the fat Hutt sings!"

"Experience suggests that he will persist until you comply," a dry voice says from somewhere off to the side. The dark-skinned padawan smirks.

Hai Gan glares towards the voice in the wings. "You got the award, you come up here and take it! You're the performer, you're the one who could talk the hind leg off a Bantha, and you're definitely better dressed than I am. I know, I wrote you!"

"There I must refuse, I fear," the voice says, taking on an ominous tone. "Just in case my former Master should decide to collect his award in person."

Hai Gan looks a little sheepish, and peers around at the thinning crowd. She seems quite glad that several people are dancing instead of watching her. "Er... Big, big thanks to everyone who nominated and voted for me, I guess. Not 'I guess' about the big thanks, big 'I guess' about the speech. Sorry I missed the nominations thread, because I didn't get to nominate some of my favourites created by other people. Oh, and applause and cheers and all that for everyone else who won awards, brilliant work, you all deserved it. Actually, several people who deserved it didn't win in the end, but that's the problem with awards. I brought biscuits... they've got chocolate on..."

She trails off nervously, and sidles off the stage towards that voice in the wings. "Look, I'm sorry, okay? I know what he did to you is all my fault, but you don't need to worry about him any more. I killed him off! I had the Council execute him!"

"Uh..." The dark-skinned padawan is staring towards the awards podium, which is now empty apart from a single award. "That's ours? Cool! But... uh... are we really, really sure Vaarn's dead? 'Cos in that case... who took his award?"

 

HaiGan, don't be nervous. Here, let's have a drink and then party!

EDIT: And by the way, congratulations!

 

An-Hael marches onto the stage and slams the "Best OC Villain" Award back onto the table. "Dad made me gave it back. He's pretty embarrassed about having actually won two of the things, he said we didn't need to steal any, even if I did pick the right one. I said it was a mistake that I got the "villain" one, I was reaching for the "child" award instead, but he said the Force must have guided my hand. Very funny, Dad. So then I asked him why nobody nominated me for Best OC Child. He tried to wriggle out of answering the question by mentioning the fact that I'm almost thirteen and don't officially sleep with a stuffed Wookiee anymore. Well, I'm not thirteen yet, not for two more days, and I can't sleep with my stuffed Wookiee because my little sister keeps borrowing it! And I don't even have to wear a bra yet--see!"

But before An-Hael can offer the proof, An-Paj marches in and takes her by the wrist in an iron grip strengthened by years of keeping Obi-Wan from racing back out of the infirmary and says, "That's enough, Hael, it's your bedtime now."

"Bedtime? Dad, I'm not a child! Nobody goes to bed at this hour of the day!"

But An-Hael is dragged off. An-Paj returns, using the Force to appear outwardly calm and not embarrassed at all.

"I'd like to thank everybody for voting for me, in both categories, and everybody who mentioned me in their stories. It's very flattering to be mistaken for a canon character, once you get over the surprise of seeing yourself in places you weren't expecting to. But a special thanks goes out to Jemmiah, who is responsible for both personality and popularity. Thank you very, very much. And congratulations to every original character which was nominated in the first place, and especially to those who won. Would it be greedy of me to say this was great fun and I hope we do it again soon?"

There's some hissing from behind the stage and An-Paj looks over to see his six wives motioning him to come hither. He turns back to the audience and smiles.

"And a good night to the rest of you, too!" he says before walking off, but the microphone picks up his murmured comment on the way out. "Yes, my little Hael, there really are people who go to bed at this hour..."

 

:eeks back in:: Where is everybody? ?

 

Runs in late as usual and slaps forehead.

I'm so sorry that I missed this! Please forgive me. The only excuse that I can give is the snow we got, my hubby not being able to go to work, and Mini-Mouse my three year old forcing me to make snow angels!

I cannot thank you that nominated and voted for Rela enough. You have no idea how much it means to me! She has become very dear to me in the past two years that we've been here at the JC!

Congragulations to all the other winners and nominees!

A small redhead with mad hair pushes her way up to the mike.

"You have no idea how wonderful it is being put in the same class with all these other wonderful characters. Thank you so much for this award! Drinks are on the house at the Dawn til Dusk!"

 

*Anna and Ewan stop dancing... The villian Jerdin entered the floor*

Whoa! I won!!???!? Wow, thanks, guys! This is soo cool. I didn't even know this was going on.

 

Oh, guys! I'm so sorry, I meant to log back in and join the fun! But I've been fighting off a nasty case of bronchitis, and the meds the doctor prescribed had me cross-eyed and in bed by 9:30!!

So, first of all, I do want to say to everyone who nominated and voted for me, thank you all so very much! I feel very honored and pleased.

To all the winners, a hearty congratulations! It is very difficult creating a three-dimensional Original Character, who can win the hearts of readers. A special hug to Jane Jinn (like there was any doubt who would win that award! ), and a cheer for the incomparable, unbelievably-talented and very deserving HAI GAN! Three cheers and a bouquet of green jellyworms!

And to the lady of discerning tastes, DarkJade, who conceived the idea, patiently put up with quibbles, carefully counted the votes... thank you so much for allowing recognition of a genre that often gets lost in the landslide of canon stories! We'll all be back next December.

Now if y'all excuse me, I've got to go take more horse pills and that nasty purple stuff that knocks me out...

 

*finally makes her appearance in a somewhat inglorious midnight blue dress and walks around to shake hands with all the winners who are still present*

Sorry I missed it! 'Specially since almost all the people I voted for won! Too bad about Denilee and Rendall, but congrats to Alia and Jerdin all the same!

Mar: (sighs) Here we go again. ::shakes her head:: Can you understand them?

Jerdin: Nope. ::shrugs:: Oh well. Shall we dance again?

Mar: (hearing that a nice slow music starts playing) Sure!

::before they leave, Mar notices Ish::

Mar: Hey Ish! ::huggs her:: Congrats to Alia! I'm sorry you missed the voting, but I'm glad you're here for the party... If you excuse me, my date is waiting...

::throws a glance at Jerdin who's waiting impatiently::

Mar: Coming, dear...

 

If we bring our OCs as dates, mine is Yrin from Though Deepening Trials. Buff, wise, Sith (in 30 pages of that story), and very sardonic.

 

Well, most of us brought OCs for dates, but I saw Ewan and Obi-Wan running around here somewhere...

 

*Mykal Van-Rel gets Sarah something to drink. He's married and much older than she is, but since she created his character in the first place, he agreed to escort her.*

Sarah: Thanks, Mikal. *notices that her poor Jedi is looking uncomfortable and smiles* Don't worry, we're not going to stay much longer.

Mykal: *releived and blunt as always* Good.

Sarah: *turns to apologize* I'm sorry, I really can't take him anywhere! It's amazing he gets any diplomatic missions at all... But LinLee is improving him, isn't she, Myke?

unless EpII is horrible beyond all belief or there is an Internet meltdown, we will all be here to celebrate your return.

 

Well, despite my penchant against mush, Ep2 can't be that bad. And the internet will certainly go on without me.

Perhaps my theme song (and my foes will agree) should be "Without You" from My Fair Lady. Hey, I challenge anyone to write a parody applicable to the 'boards and me.
