Dang! I made a heck of a lot of hats this year!
I have probably spent much more time in costume this past year rather than actually making costumes. I haven't completed as many costume projects this past year as I have done in others because I have spent quite a bit of my time attending and organizing the membership of the Midwest Garrison to participate in events.

Now what will I do in 2005?

2005 Costume projects:

--Queen Amidala EP I Senate costume for Quincy
--Queen Amidala EP I Senate costume for doll
--EP I handmaiden costume(s) for doll(s)
--Imperial Tech (or officer's) uniform for Quincy
--Imperial Tech uniform for me
--ANH Leia costume for Quincy
--Boba Fett custom jumpsuit (major reconstruction project)
--Jango Fett custom jumpsuit
--McGonagal's tartan witch's hat

Star Wars costumes:

I have begun making a new and improved version of the Episode I senate costume.
If you don't see me posting much, it will mean that I better be busy making this for Quincy.
Almost all of it needs to be done by hand in order to make it look right.
I am also concurrently working on the "doll" version of the costume and perhaps a few handmaidens costumes.

Other costumes:

?..and then there is the Wizard of Oz??perhaps later in the year for Halloween.
Glinda the Good Witch of the North costume supplies are sitting here in a bag waiting.

What does

Happy New Years everyone!

Woohoo!

Ok, so I did not get as much completed in 2004 as I hoped, but I think 2005 is going to be a stellar year for costumes. :)

Here is what I made in '04:
- the Padme white Tatooine dress/cape
- a pair of Ambiguously Gay Duo costumes for my sister and her buddy
- a spectacular Can Can dress (yet to be debuted)
- multiple dress up outfits for my 3 little nieces including tutus and capes
- several baby blankets
- mustard green cape inspired by Padme's episode III outfit
- shieldmaien corset
- Padme's deleted scene turtleneck costume

For 2005, here are my goals:
- another spectacular can can dress
- several corsets
- a ball gown
- more little girl dress up clothes
- elvin gown
- Aalya's jedi costume
- renaissance gown
- pastel lake dress

Realistically - if I get 3 or 4 completed, I will be very happy!

Cheers!

:)

So in 2004 I did:

Completed my AOTC Picnic gown
TPM handmaiden battle outfit (still need to put the lining in)
Dinousaur costume for my nephew

Next year will be a lot busier.

Complete the TPM battle outfit
Sleeveless brown outfit from ROTS
Probably help a friend with an Aayla Secura costume
Maybe Luke and Leia costume for my two twin nieces.

Non SW projects

Nini's cancan dress from Moulin Rouge
Possibly help a friend with Satines red gown
I'm also responsible for the costumes for show that we are setting up, and it's all set in the early 18th Century. That will be a lot of costumes.

Finish Arwen Mourning gown

I did absolutely nothing in 2004, costumes-wise, but then again, I didn't have any motivation. 2005, I'm going to at least D*Con (I hope), so I hope to make a few costumes, to walk around in, at least.

Brainstorm list:
SW
Jaina's black jumpsuit
Jaina's green outfit (both from Japanese covers)
Jaina's Jedi costume
sketch ideas/design for Jaina's red ballgown (I've gotten ideas from Christine's Don Juan outfit (PotO movie))
prototype of Tenel Ka's battle armor

Pern
Menolly Apprentice

Other
Abby Whistler's showdown outfit (Blade III)
design/create prototype of Magdalena costume (Top Cow Comics)

It's really a shame that I can't talk my brother into cosplaying with me... the Jacen costumes from NJO sound fun, especially the amphistaff battle armor.

More ideas when I dream some more. Let's see if any of these will materialize.

Gosh, 2004 went by really really fast...

what I got done:
-Queen Amidala parade gown (dress, banner down the front, parasol back piece, petal cape, headgear)

-Gryfindor student uniform (robe, skirt, sweater, scarf)

-lots of blankets for friends and family

-train upgrade on the Padme Pastel gown, re-do of all of the beaded headbands

My plans for 2005 are just as big as my plans for last year... hopefully I can get some of them done....

-Padme green robe from Episode 3
-tan sleeveless outfit from episode three
-either the handmaiden flame gown or a LOTR gown...

And, have to mention the other costume I got this year, which was my senior prom dress, the Satine Smouldering Tempress gown made by Ferd. *thanks her again cause she's so talented.*

Happy New Year and GOOD LUCK! :)

What I set out to do:
* Two stunt lightsabers for a fan film: The first buyer dropped out, so I sold them to a board member in the US instead
* A lightsaber for the 2004 Custom Lightsaber contest: Still have not begun due to lack of inspiration
* Alien makeup: No
* Obi-Wan TPM lightsaber: Almost complete. Still needs finishing, blackening of some parts, some holes drilled and assembly.
* Assaj Ventress sabers: No.

Other things I have done:
* Finished a OT/PT hybrid custom lightsaber.
* Repaired and accurized my Gandalf The White staff.
* Completed a resin E-11 Stormtrooper Blaster (ANH version) for a board member, including laser pointer in barrel. :)

Costume/prop projects for this year:
* Scratchbuilt E-11 (ESB version). 90% done. Have not found a satin black spraypaint for it yet. Have not got a scope.
* An entry for the Custom Lightsaber Contest: Planning stage.
* Rebel Fleet Commander: Initiated, parts ordered. Will also be supplying a trooper with a helmet. (E11 for this one)
* Luke, Obi-Wan and Vader ANH lightsabers: Parts on order have been delayed.
* Will probably help out with a handmaiden and Aayla Secura costumes (see Obi Annes post).

I feel a bit silly making a list, since all of these costumes will require more than a bit of help with (have to learn how to really sew this time besides making pillows and a pair of shorts! :p) but they're just my goals of outfits to try to have this year:

-Custom Jedi from Republic comic
-ESB Bespin fatigues Lukette
-Gray cloak for appropriated ROTJ Lukette
-Re-do of the yellow tunic from HttE Leia, and her golden headpiece
-(bigger maybe) Padme's blue Tatooine poncho gown, with a painted design in lieu of embroidery. After hanging around with Benae_Quee too much I finally decided I wanted a Padme costume, and I figured I'd go for this one since I have good experience with painting fabric instead of sewing. :D

finished in 2004:
~The Bride from Kill Bill Vol. 1 (picture)
I'm a huge fan of the KB movies, and being an assassin was a blast.

finished in 2003 (but never posted :p)
~my cheap silly ringwraith! (picture)
I loved this one, b/c I galloped around campus with my light-up plastic One Ring necklace threatening my profs and friends with the sword.

for 2005
~today (a deceptively early start) I created a mockup of the light blue Tatooine gown on my padme doll. I made this dress in 2002 (picture) but never put all the details on it. Ideally, I'll just finish the one I have; it turned out better than I remembered. I only have until Friday to complete the whole costume for C3. (I'll be out of the country from Jan 8th to April 22.) I'll do as much as I can and enjoy the result.
~second will be Halloween 2005. I'll probably take something from a 2004 or 2005 movie for this.

Finishing from 2004...
Purple Diamonds Clone Wars
Red Sorrow Clone Wars

To Do...
Imperial Officer (I realllllly want this costume)
Green Mustard Cloak Ep 3 Padme (so pretty)
Bride Jedi (long story)
Groom Jedi (with Bride obviously hehe)
ROTJ Luke for Fiancé

This is all for now, with making costumes for others, hosting a sewing class, working, and planning my wedding, it's all I can squeeze in (and
this needs to be finished by the Premiere at the latest).

2004:

Yellow FLemish, aka the Big Bird dress, or "SHADE YOUR EYES!" dress, actually 1520s Scandenavian, but it's based heavily on Flemish tapestries of about the same time as well.
Hans Sebald Beham inspired dress , 1540s German
Black Diamonds from moulin Rouge
Black Natural Form dress from Portrait of a Lady starring Nicole Kidman
Eowyn's Funeral garb from The Two Towers
Elizabeth de Valois' pearled black gown with The Sleeves of Doom and all the layers (camisa, querpo baxo, verdugados, saya entera, ruff)
three cotton velveteen cloaks
my bridesmaid dress

2005:
Absolute must do:

1848 hand smocked cotton voille dress for Jan 16 picnic in a living history museum.
Another cloak for the dance troupe I made three for last year
a cuerpo baxo y vasqina so I can have a less formal late 16th dress to wear to events I have to travel to.
Two linen shifts.
1570s Danish gown, and the dinky little headdress that goes with it.

Must finish:
Christine's Wishing dress from the stage version of Phantom of the Opera (so much nicer than the one she wears in the film;) )
Christine's Wedding Dress from the stage version of Phantom (likewise, but it would have been too overbearing for Emmy's features.)
Christine's Hannibal slave girl outfit, and the skirt that transforms it into her Elissa gown for Think of Me (ditton, it's a neat stage trick, but not really workable for film.. though it could have been fun seeing seamstresses working furiously to make her dress similar;) )

If I have time:
A soft fluffy ruffly 1870s dress using Tissot's paintings as inspiration.
A late 1830s dress.
the green velvet Mina gown from

Well, I didn't complete as much as I would have liked to during 2004, but I think it was pretty understandable, given that I graduated a very hectic year of high school and started an even more stressful semester of college. What I did get to:

• Finished a fully-beaded Arwen Requiem gown. Much time was taken up with hand-beading sleeves and trim.

• Tan linen dress for a missions trip to the Dominican Republic. It doesn't fit terribly well, but it was cool and pretty comfortable in the tropical heat, so, eh.

• Eowyn's White Wool Gown

• Finished finishing touches on my sister's Eowyn Refugee Dress, so that she could wear it to a local Renaissance Faire. It turned out better than I had hoped.

• Grey herringbone "wool-like" Hobbit vest for my dad, to go with the highwater Hobbit pants that I thrift-stored for him for the ROTK premiere.

• My first corset, from the Simplicity CW pattern. No good pictures, since the plain white photographs rather badly.

• 18th century stays, from the Butterick pattern.

• Crewel-work 18th c. petticoat. I can't claim credit for the crewel-work--I got the fabric on clearance at Hobby Lobby for just under $3/yd. It's cream colored linen, I think, with a tone-on tone floral pattern in wool.

• Pink taffeta skirt

• Floral cotton full-circle skirt

• Red satin wrap shirt

I think that's all. I also started work on a Padmé picnic dress, but had to put it on hold til I can afford the silk (there's a LOT of it!) that I want for the skirt and chemise. I'm still going slowly through the corset embroidery, though.

For 2005, who knows? I'd like to do a new LOTR Faire costume for both myself and my sister. One for me that *isn't* as hot as the Requiem dress! I'm batting around ideas for:

• Eowyn's Shieldmaiden dress (sister?)

• Eowyn's Victory gown

I also have things for or wish to complete:

• 18th c. outfit

• Arwen's Chase dress

• Regency bodiced petticoat and dress

• A decorative corset--18th c., maybe?

• Truly Victorian 1872 Vest Basque

That's all for now! Hopefully I can get at least some of it done this year.

I haven't gotten around to totaling up all the projects I have completed in the last year yet, so I'll start with my projects for 2005. I have five "small" projects that are kind of Star Wars related, in a roundabout way.

I got the idea quite a while ago to re-do old Barbies of mine and my sister's, and I have five definite ideas now. And more importantly, I have all the materials I need! They all have a fantasy theme going, except one.

1. Snow Queen - She will be all dressed in white satin and fur with a silver crown. The doll has light blue eyes and black hair.

2. Amazon Goddess - She will wear a gold dress trimmed with bright green feathers and emeralds. The doll has blue eyes and long, bright yellow hair.

3. Debutante - She will wear a red satin dress with long white gloves, ruby and diamond jewelry, and a feather boa. The doll has blue eyes and auburn hair.

4. Genie - She will have a turquoise two-piece Arabian outfit trimmed with blue and gold gemstones and gold jewelry. The doll has blue eyes and blond hair in a high ponytail.

5. Lady of the Lake - She will wear a blue satin and teal organza one-shoulder dress with aqua and turquoise beads, a blue shell belt, and silver and teal gemstones jewelry. The doll has blue eyes and long wavy blonde hair.

These relate to Star Wars because I hope to get them done in time to sell on ebay to help pay my way to Celebration III! I will be posting pictures of them here as soon as they are finished and I can procure a decent digital camera. I'll keep you all posted!

I was really lazy last year.

I did a 14th century cotehardie for my school ball and men's rococo costume for Halloween (and note: I wore it myself, it was not for my boyfriend):)

Pictures of both costumes can be seen on my livejournal: www.livejournal.com/users/aure_

For the next year I would like to do:

1) Undershirt for the rococo costume
2) ROTS Padme green robe
3) black silk corset
4) Christine's nightgown or Don Juan costume from tPotO movie
5) 12th century dress
6) Japanese gi for my boyfriend
7) Japanese kimono for my boyfriend
8) AOTC Padme packing gown

If being realistic, I may be able to do half of these. *Sigh*

Hoo boy, here we go!

From the 2004 thread, what I had planned for this year:

1. Padme's family gown - done
2. Elizabeth's plum dress (Pirates of the Caribbean) - postponed till 2005
3. Elizabeth's island shift (Pirates of the Caribbean) - postponed till 2005
4. My wedding dress - done (back), which is good, because not finishing my dress would have been...well, bad.
5. Arwen's Ceremonial Gown - postponed indefinitely
6. Sikozu (from Farscape) - done, and worn to three different conventions!
7. An elf dress for my mother - abandoned completely since we decided against doing the wedding rehearsal in costume
8. A Jedi cloak for a friend - still not done, and I hang my head in shame. I promised it to her a year and a half ago.

In 2004, I also did:

9. Pineapple upside-down dress (the picture's not great, but it's the best I have)
10. Super-quick, super-budget Leia's ceremonial gown
11. Revenge of the Sith cheerleader
12. My flower girl's dress

For 2005, here is what I have planned:

1. Aragorn's red shirt for my husband (for ORC)
2. ANH Senatorial Leia (for C3)
3. Blue version of Padme's picnic dress (for C3)
4. New underdress for my rainbow dress, and hopefully a new neckpiece as well (for C3)
5. Wedding dress for a friend (for May 2005, opening weekend of RotS)
6. Elizabeth's plum dress, PotC (for Comic-Con)
7. Elizabeth's island shift, PotC (for Comic-Con)
8. Barbossa costume for my husband (for Comic-Con)
9. PoA-style Ravenclaw uniform (possibly for Comic-Con, otherwise for Halloween)
10. Snape costume for my husband (possibly for Comic-Con, otherwise for Halloween)
11. I WILL finish that Jedi cloak for my friend (by GenCon Indy)

Probably won't happen this year, but I want to do them at some point:

1. Violet's dress and coat, from Lemony Snicket's ASOUE
2. Aeryn's printheth dress (and necessary underpinnings), from the "John Quixote" episode of Farscape. If only I could find white fabric with biggish silver stars...

Well! Best get cracking, I suppose!

Caitlin, I can't wait to see your blue version of the picnic dress! :)

Happy new year everyone! I look forward to seeing what you all come up with this year and I can't wait to see many of you at C3 in April.

Hmmmm...2004 was sort of a slow costuming year for me. I only went to Dragon*Con, but what a con it was!

What I finished in 2004:
• By far my greatest achievement of the year was my Janice costume from the Muppet band: Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem. surlygirlie (who was Animal) helped me a lot with the initial construction of Janice's head and made my rockin' guitar for me. :)

• I also completed my version of Arwen's requiem gown. (I intentionally made it floor length.) I still need to get a wig for this costume. Maggie did a cool effect on this picture. (And it shows my elf ear. tee-hee...) :)

• And I also made a custom can-can costume for the Moulin Rouge gathering at D*C. I called it 'Parisian'. I don't have any good pics of it online right now though.

• And I continued work on Padmé's packing gown. I should have this done by C3.

For 2005 I plan to:
• Finish the packing gown.

• Do some minor improvements to my picnic dress. I've made a new shawl for it but it still needs to be dyed.

• And, I have an idea regarding a particular ROTS costume that I might want to tackle, but making it will really depend on whether or not enough reference pictures crop up prior to C3.

Violet's dress and coat- Lemony Snicket's ASOUE

A full sith costume to go with my robe
Gwenivere's Blue gown- King Arthur
