It's that time of year again. Spring training is upon us, as pitchers and catchers report today. After an unforgettable season in 2004, the baseball clock has been reset to zero. Just over eight months from now, we'll have another set of moments, players and teams for the record books. We're here to talk about everything in baseball that happens between now and then.

    Play ball!

EDIT: Thread locked to make way for the 2006 Edition.

The DBacks called it first. It's basic shotgun rules man. The DBacks have already been declared the winners.

It's that time of year again! The Reds, Yankees and the Washington Nationals all have their pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training today. There's just something about ending the long drought between the end of October and the middle of February that feels right. Baseball needs to be played. Lots of teams made different moves this offseason, including the Twins who just avoided arbitration by resigning Johan Santana, last year's Cy Young Winner, to a 4-year deal. The Mets went out and made arguably the two biggest splashes of the offseason by signing free agents Carlos Beltran and Pedro Martinez. I am cautiously optimistic for the fate of the Mets this year, but let's not get AmazingB's hopes up too high yet. At least I won't officially declare the Mets out of contention yet.

The crack of the bat, the smell of fresh cut grass, the pop of the glove. It's time for BASEBALL!

What I had in my first post, but I will add on to this thread a lot this year, so I'm not bitter about it.

    Go Tigers!!

This reminds me - I ought to try to get All-Star tickets for this year. It's being held at Comerica.

Interestingly enough, it was last season, in my first visit to the park when they made the announcement.

The only prediction I'm willing to make right now is that the Colorado Rockies will not win the NL West.

I got tix for the Sept. series of Dodgers vs. the Giants. In San Francisco - it will be my first time in California! Pretty excited.

Also have tickets for Yankees v. Red Sox home game 3 here in NY - but they put it in the afternoon - I cannot miss work for this - why on earth is it in the afternoon?!?!

And the Yankees v. Cubs at The Staduim in June !

We went to Wrigley a coupld of years ago to see the Yanks play there for the first time in like 50-60 years. Wrigley - AWESOME!

Last year, saw games in 3 different stadiums, and this year, looks like I could almost double that. Would be cool if we can do 6 this year.

I digress. Reading a lot now on this FBI report that baseball was told 10 years ago about the Steroid problem. And nowe McGuire is really getting attention he does not want.

Now, some radio personalities here in NY are asking McGuire to go on 60 Minutes 2 and speak out live on this scandal. But they hypothesize that he will not do it, since sure, he is not working out anymore, but he is significantly smaller that he was in his playing days, noticible in the neck, especially.... interesting to see when photos of him are made public - if they are....

I sense a lot of unfounded haughtiness coming from the general direction of the Yankees fandom in here. Well, I have BREAKING NEWS that shows the Yankees may have finaly aquired the one person who could truly revive their dying organization. They have hired this guy to their medical team to help with their choking problem. :D

I didn't used to be the windiest, but then Jose Canseco injected steroids into my butt.

I am a Philadelphia Phillies fan, so naturally, I have nothing to look forward to until Football Season starts up again.

What's funny about the Yankees is that they had a team good enough to win it all last year. I mean, they were only an inning away from beating Boston, and I'm under the belief that they would have beaten St.Louis had they gotten to the world series. Actually, I think that they've had a team good enough to win it all for the past 4 years. Maybe they just didn't have the element of luck on their side.

Honestly, I think it's funny that they haven't won since they tried to turn the team into an all-star team, starting with Giambi and Mussina. However, Randy Johnson (if healthy) makes a scary team look even scarier. They certainly have the offense, but I don't think they have the clutch hitters that they used to. Their pitching staff will be an interesting watch this season.

On another note, Here's to hoping that the Braves' reign on the national league east will end this year. Go Mets!!!

Have you seen some of the offseason moves the Dodgers made, Tunick? The Kris Benson deal for the Mets is questionable, but both Lowe and Drew are getting too much credit for their skills.

And I think you're discounting Seattle too much.
