I can think of a lot of guys on defense who deserve to go.

It's hard to get excited about what is by far the weakest of the four major North American sports' all-star games. Then again, the nature of the sport lends itself to that (an anti-climactic game after the season ends), though it is ironic considering the NFL is the best sport overall.

I'm going to be very mad if Sean Merriman gets in, I don't care how good a season he's had. Serving a four game suspension for roids, doesn't mean he still didn't benefit from them, after the suspension was over.

It's not so much the actual game, Saro. Just the recognition of the players that get selected to go, that interests me.

yup same here, on both accounts.

Merriman's had a monster year, but the steroid thing should keep him out. probably won't though.

And I could care less about the game, but the selections are something I look forward to.

It's good to see you have an appreciation for the athletes in the game, Juli. I can't get too worked up over a particular player being snubbed. Sure, it must hurt not to be chosen, but one's acts on the field will speak for themselves in his next contract negotiation, so everyone who is deserving wins in the end.

But as a homer, I wouldn't mind if Kerry Rhodes got a spot on the team. :p

His stats aren't that impressive either. The only thing that sticks out is his forced fumbles (4) and his sacks this year (12.5). However 12.5 sacks is great for a linebacker having missed four games.

When you're one sack behind the sack leader after you've missed four games, I'd say you're having a great year.

I know. I pointed that out. That is his one "exceptional" stat.

How is Merriman against the run? I tried looking up his tackling stats, but couldn't sort through stuff like tackles for losses.

Here I am arguing a player's stats! I fell into the trap. :p

Well I'll make an obvious statement and say Manning and Harrison should be there.

Kinda surprised Faneca made it. The Steeler's O-Line hasn't been much to speak of this year, and, to me, that has to reflect directly on Faneca. Kinda disappointed Joey Porter didn't make it.

The fact the Jets have as many wins (or more) than the Broncos, Steelers, Chiefs & Dolphins and are sending only one pro bowler tells me Mangini's done a good job assembling a competitive group of overachievers.
