Good luck to all the nominees. And thank you to all the volunteers, the overseers, and BigFatty, who did such a great job!

 

BigFatty and her volunteers emerge from their hidden lair that has been their home for the past month. Shielding their eyes from the bright sun, they smooth out the wrinkles in their dresses and tuxes and make their way into the limo waiting to whisk them away to the Saga Awards ceremony.

During the ride they happily keep themselves busy by discovering that they can hold conversations about things other than eligibility, word counts, and voter registration. So busy, in fact, that they do not notice that the surroundings are not what they should be until they get out of the limo, which proceeds to speed away.

They find themselves standing in front of a store in a dusty street in oppressively hot weather. ?This doesn?t look right.? NYCitygurl comments.

?And where did the limo go?? Nienna asks.

Inside the shop they can see a Toydarian flitting about. Taking a second look at their surroundings, a collective knot forms in their stomachs. ?Can?t be.? Layren whispers.

?Well,? BigFatty says, ?might as well go in and find out what?s going on.?

The group enters Watto?s store and take a look around. ?Ahh, welcome, welcome.? The blue alien flies over to greet his latest guests. ?I think you fell into our trap too easily, eh?.?

?Trap?? Ale asks.

?Dat?s right, a trap! Some of us, unhh, less appreciated characters ? we weren?t happy with how the nominations turned out. Methinks we are going to keep you here until we?re in the race for awards, too. How do you say it? Hostage, yes??

As soon as the word ?hostage? is said, the volunteers turn their eyes to the hostess hoping she would have an idea on how to get them out of their situation and off to the ceremony. ?Well, Watto,? BigFatty starts ?whoever runs the awards isn?t allowed to participate in nominating, so there was no influence from? whoever was running it as to who would be up for awards, let alone who would win them. So really, you should have spoken with some of the users who participated about your grievances.?

Watto mulls over the answer and looks like he?s going to believe it when hyper says, ?But that only applies to you, BigFatty. The rest of us could have nominated Watto and his friends.? The others open their mouths to try and cover up the truth when a loud, crashing noise stops them.

Standing next to a now broken piece of machinery is Space_Wolf. ?Oops??

Watto flies over to inspect the damage. ?Me thinks that you break, it you buy it. That will cost you, eh, seven thousand.?

BigFatty opens her purse and takes out the Imperial Express Card she?s been using for the awards budget, which has mostly been devoted to purchasing take-out food for herself and the volunteers. ?Just put it on this and we?ll be on our way.?

?No, no, no.? Watto shakes his head. ?Imperial credit doesn?t work out here. Only money.?

?Here.? Ale says as he reaches into his pocket and pulls out a handful of credits. ?This should cover it.?

Watto nods his satisfaction and the volunteers leave the store as soon as possible. As they exit, NYCitygurl asks, ?Where did you get those credits??

?I may have swiped it from the mods? bail money stash when oqi wasn?t looking. Just don?t ask what else she keeps under her bed? Ale answered. ?C?mon, let?s find a shuttleport and try and get out of here.?

 

*DarthIshtar walks in barefoot in her red striped shirt and her favorite khaki linen skirt. This year, yeah, she's going to be honest about what she's doing. Such as the fact that in spite of the fact that she'd love to be wearing Vera Wang and sitting at the Fanfiction: The Musical table, she is, in fact, sitting on her air mattress in a room that needs some tidying and craving goldfish crackers.*

Wow, I just happened to be here. I haven't said much on awards, but to everyone working the awards! Luck to all the nominees!

 

Kelli_LB walks in the awards ceremony pretending that she is wearing a couture gown costing thousands, but in fact, she's wearing something she picked up at JC Penny's. Fanfic writing doesn't exactly pay.

Funny opener. The entire volunteer crew held hostage by a bad CGI with an obnoxious accent? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! We've still got the rescue teams organized from my rescue situation, if you need them.

 

Nemesis strolls in in her best red dress with Helarion Darkman, OC, on her arm . . . no she doesn't. Nemesis is sitting in a freezing conservatory hogging her parents' computer for its Net connection

Backstage, the characters of the Saga look around for BigFatty and her crew to receive instructions for who presents what award. But all they can find is a list of categories with names scrawled beside them.

Chewbacca sees his name as the only one not crossed out near Alternate Universe, shrugs, finds the appropriate envelope and heads onto the stage. He is greeted by warm applause and begins to read the list of nominees, but no one understands what he?s saying since there isn?t a protocol droid around to translate Shyriiwook. Thankfully, a large screen over the stage begins to display the list of eligible competitors.
