Benny Junes has fallen on hard times since his height of popularity on home shopping Holonet channels. We find him unshaven, in ragged clothing, as he desperately tries to sell a narrator.

JUNES: I'm telling you, you will not find a better narrator than this one right here.

JAWA: Don't try to swindle me, bub.

JUNES: No one's trying to screw you, man. No one's trying that. Listen, I consider you a personal friend. That's why I'm doing you a favor selling you this brilliant narrator for such a steal. Why else would I give you a deal like this? I'd have to be crazy.

JAWA: I d?

JUNES: I'm not crazy!

JAWA: Look, this isn't one of those unreliable narrators, is it?

JUNES: Ha ha, whaaaat? Who told you that? No no no no, this guy is the real deal. Present-tense, past-tense, whatever you need, buddy. Good for hundreds of pages.

JAWA: Let me just test him with a question. Hey, Narrator.

NARRATOR: Yes, sir!

JAWA: Are you a good deal?

NARRATOR: Absolutely.

JAWA: ...Now that I think about it, that tells me nothing.

JUNES: Sixty-five is my final offer; I can't go lower. I'm taking a loss on this.

JAWA: Fifty-five.

JUNES: Done.

NARRATOR: And so the two great warriors struck a bargain which would be remembered for ages!

JUNES: No refunds.

Face takes to the stage one last time. ?Congratulations to all our nominees and winners! And again, thanks to our volunteers, entertainers, moderators, and anybody who participated this year! Unless they participated by shooting me in the leg. That I did not like. You know who you are.?

He scratches the back of his neck. ?There is one last thing you need to know. Despite our budget cuts, we were able to book this awesome venue. Well, book is a strong word. We are scheduled to overlap with someone else using it.?

A huge durasteel claw crashes through the roof.

?A demolition crew.?

The audience panics and flees.

?Everybody please form an orderly mob. Keep looting to a minimum. I call dibs on this ice cream maker.?

Soon the entire audience ? author, reader, and character alike ? is huddled outside the amphitheater, watching as the massive machines tear it down. Everyone, except Calo Nord. He was at the refreshments stand, getting a box of Thin Mints, when the demolition began. He makes it to the lobby with its huge transparisteel doors just in time to see everyone gathered outside.

?Oh come on,? he groans.

The building collapses on top of him.

(Don't worry, kids; he's used to it.)

?All in all, that's what I call a successful awards!? Face declares as he wheels up to Daena, Striker, and the mods. They all stare in mixtures of disgust, anger, and exhaustion. Also, Striker is a little peckish.

KELIA rips the microphone from the lapel of Face's too-small suit. ?And that is why you're fired.?
