Congrats to Bri-Windstar, Jade_Max, ViaraSkywalker and PonyTricks!

And congrats to everyone! This was my first time participating in this challenge, and it was a ton of fun. It's so great to see so many interesting responses to a variety of crazy challenges. AWESOME job, everyone!

Mac... those are lovely, awesomely awful colours. And who can say no to SPAM?

If we're throwing in our two cents on voting, I'll throw mine in. Personally, I think the way it's run is more or less fine. I would very much prefer to keep it restricted to those who participate. The voting process in general has seemed to work fine since the beginning, and I say that fully recognizing that minor changes and/or tweaks have been made along the way.

 

So, is the list of dares and who requested them (as opposed to the writers who wrote them) going to be put up like last year? I'm curious as to who came up with the dare I wrote.

SoA

My Challenge for any era:
A group of character is in the wilderness where only one of them has been before. Somewhere in their travels the unexpectedly meet an acquaintance of one of the characters in their group. They find something valuable. The entire story should take place away from cities.

It must include:
at least one OC taking a major role
a male and a female with a close friendship that is not even remotely romantic
a non-human character taking a major role
Someone should get wet
there should be some kind of explosion
one character should quote at least two proverbs
it should include at least one flashback

DarthIshtar

Write a vignette set no more than 60 days after the fall of the Republic in which someone discovers their reasons for being loyal to the Empire. The first line of dialogue must be from "The Song That Goes Like This" from Spamalot and the last line of dialogue must be an insult delivered by a droid in a foreign language. In addition, this must be a songfic set to "How Far We've Come" by Matchbox 20 and must be exactly 2349 words long.

Saga; Anakin has placed a holopic on the GFFA version of You tube.
Obi-Wan finds out and begins a blog on the Twitter version of the GFFA.
Your dare is to write about the holopic in twitter sized parts and you can use all the characters (Jedi, senators, civilians) of the prequel trillogy.

- Obi-Wan and Han Solo must make an appearance in person
- These sentences must be included:
"There's no way I'm going to do that!"
"You are the most idiotic egotist I have met in a long time."

Bri_Windstar

The story is about the failed assassination attempt of the Meatlump King. It must be a serious fic, ie little to no humor. The occasional quip is fine. The attack occurred around 1 year ABY, so current events apply. Must take place on Corellia as that is where the Meatlump gang is located.

In canon, the Meatlump King?s true identity (real name and persona and such) is not known. This must hold true in the fic. In addition, no ?heavy hitters? from canon, movie or EU, can make any kind of appearance. I?m talking no Skywalkers, Solos, Antilles, Horns, etc. Nada.

Must involve his three sons.

Must include mentions his is past works with the Empire- people he worked with and weapons he helped create. Should also make mentions of how and why he became disillusioned with his work and his affiliation with the Empire.

The leader of the assassination squad must be the Emperor?s Hand named Sarcev Quest. His usefulness lies in his ability to win people over and infiltrate groups; this should be used to gain him access into the Meatlump gang in order to set up the assassination attempt. Also, his terrible reputation as a sort of ladies? man must be part of the reason the assassination attempt fails. Should also reference his start as a Jedi initiate at least once and his feelings towards that time.

POV should alternate between the Meatlump King and Sarcev Quest.

Must also show fallout of failed attempt on both sides- how the Meatlump King and the Meatlumps react to the attack and his survival, and how Palpatine deals with Sarcev Quest for failing.

One scene should take place on a boat at a popular tourist beach locale.

One scene must include a prominent Selonian from Corellia?s neighboring planet Selonia. While only seen in this one scene, the mentioned Selonian should play a fairly important part in the story throughout and should be mentioned more than once.

Various mentions of the colors pink and orange, not necessarily together, and a card game of choice in a high end casino must be added.

"SAGA - Empire/ROTJ Era specificly. The main character must be an OC* who works for the Intergalactic Enquirer, but who desperately wants to be known as a serious journalist. The writer of the story

 

I love logging on and seeing Resource look like Pepto Bismol got blended with pomegranate and then upchucked.

 

So, now I know who to curse... I mean blame... I mean thank for the inspiration to write a SW/ST crossover, which I'd never planned to do.

EDIT: I finished the dare MacUnleashed gave; The Tale of Tyrena.

 

Sorry? Well, maybe not. I loved the finished product, so I can't say that I really am. For the torture that it seems to have been, yes, but I'm happy to see that it was executed so wonderfully.

Wow. Mac, that is certainly the craziest dare I've ever seen.

And now I know who I owe a dare story to, since as soon as I have no more homework to do, I'll write it.

Switching to the now-infamous "assless chaps" icon in honor of the April Fool's Day thread that started here two years ago. I promise I'll wear an extra day of coral/pink/spam.

 

Heck yeah, Trace. To do anything else would be BLASPHEMY.
