The Rise of Palpatine by JediStretch

There they lived on the streets, trying to keep in the shadows during the day and at night they would do their foraging for food and supplies. For the most part they found what they needed in the waste of local residents before the trash collector droids came along and incinerated the trash. A couple of times they got caught trespassing on someone's property and had to flee, but they survived. As time wore on, Dantius grew distant from his mother and often questioned why they were living like they were. She tried to explain once, but he got angry at her and stormed off. It took her 3 hours to find him. She followed the trail of overturned fruit carts and strewn trash containers.

When she found him she gave him a stern talk about his outburst and made him promise to never do it again. He crossed his fingers behind his back as he smiled at his mother and said he'd promise. He liked how he felt when he was mad and would not give that up.

When Dantius turned 5 their luck ran out. As they foraged for their food, Dantius suddenly felt an odd sensation and voiced it.

    "Something is wrong mother."

    "What is it son?"

"I feel like someone is watching us."

"Then we should be careful. I want you to take this food and head back to the alcove, I'll take a different route and meet you there."

"You're too late Sasha Gorn," said a familiar voice from behind them.

They turned around to see the man that had visited her two years before, Joe. However, he had about six other men with him.

"Joe here tells us that you hurt him pretty badly the last time he came to visit you," said one of the cronies behind Joe. "Nice you to inform us you had a son. Maybe we'll take him into our service and let you live......for now."

Upon hearing that Dantius thrust out his hands and all 7 men want sailing through the air backwards about 10 feet. While they struggled to get up, he started running back to their "home", an alcove under someone's house. When he turned the first corner he heard a blaster shot. He stopped and cautiously peered around the corner to see his mom, at the feet of all 7 thugs. He felt a great heat rising in him as he felt, fear and anger at his mother's death. How was he going to survive now without her? Yes, he didn't like her, but she had taught him how to live on the street. Would he be able to survive on his own?

The thugs raised their heads from the dead woman's body and saw him standing at the far corner and beginning to walk toward them. They snickered amongst themselves as he came, thinking him stupid for walking right back to them to be taken captive. Their attitude softened a bit as they saw his look of sadness.

"Come on boys," said Joe. "Let's back of a bit and let him have a moment with his mother before we take him." They snickered and backed up about 200 feet to give him privacy.

Dantius came to a stop over his mom and he looked down at her. She saw his face and the look of hatred. "I'm so sorry my son, I could not protect you." She struggled to speak. "Do what they tell you, promise me. My death means nothing.....if you live." She paused when she saw him bare his teeth. "Son?"

She fell silent as he took the crate of food he carried and mashed it onto her head as hard as he could, crushing her skull. "I hate you!" He shouted. "You made them come! I hate you!"

He turned his look at the men who had turned just after he finished killing his mom. Heat filled his body as the Force responded to his anger and he ran to them and flung them into the wall with such force that their skulls cracked. Then one by one he blasted them with their own blasters, leaving a hole in each skull between the eyes. So enraged was he that he then started flinging any nearby loose object at the dead bodies before him.

    Silent Scream by tjace

?As if millions of voices cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced.?
    - Obi-Wan Kenobi

Sareth Dorn could hear ghosts. Thousands, tens of thousands of souls, screaming in her head. Some cried out in pain, others in fear, yet others in abject despair. She knew many of these wretched wraiths, for she had lived with them, fought alongside them, bled with them. And she had killed them all.

She stood on the bridge of the Centurion, the sounds of battle around her. The woman could feel the weariness in her men, but also their trust in their general. She glanced at her tactical projector and saw the fleet of their leader, whom they had come to know as Revan, slowly but surely pushing the Mandalorians toward her. She watched as Revan?s Vengeance drew alongside the Mandalore?s Kandosii. Soon the warlord of those savages would be gone, and it would be the perfect time to strike, and make sure they never threatened the citizens of the galaxy ever again.

The battle unfolded as she and others loyal to their leader and the Republic looked on. It was a battle worthy of an epic, with much heroism and bravery on both sides. But as the battle reached her, she knew the time had come to put an end to it. The Mandalorians deserved to be destroyed for all that they had done; all the countless worlds left burning or enslaved, all the people they had massacred or conscripted into their hideous horde. She turned to her tech specialist, and gave him confirmation of his orders.

The weapon that had been prepared, the trap they had fallen into, the Mandalorians could not escape. Torn apart by gravitational forces beyond comprehension, the enemy fleet was rendered unrecognizable by the destruction that she had unleashed. But such a force cannot be fully controlled, and Republic ships were destroyed just as easily as those of the Mando?ade. A shockwave of desolation that transcended time and space buffeted her as squadrons and flotillas were engulfed.
And then, there was nothing. Nothing but pain. It was as if her eyes had been plunged into a sun. Surely she would die. Surely her flame of existence would be snuffed out by the tempest. All the hells ever imagined could not compare to this.

    <\aftermath/>

Amidst the blackness of the universe, there is a galaxy of light. There, life flourishes to such an extent that its energy overflows from the crude matter from whence it came. This energy, this force, surrounds the galaxy. It penetrates the galaxy. And it binds the galaxy together. But even in the galaxy of light, there are dark places where few tread, tears in the fabric of life. Far from the bright center, near the very edge of the disk, one such place has been born. The orange fire of a star illuminates what was once a planet, but now is a lifeless shattered husk. The remains of the world are in several pieces, and seem to be held together by a strange green lightning that shackles the shards to one another. Surrounding this corpse are thousands of metal slivers. Slivers that in turn contain corpses of their own.

    <\THE TELL-TALE HEART/>

A heart beats. But the blood that it pumps does not have the rhythm of life. Instead it is filled with a discord of death, circulating and magnifying razors of psychic anguish. The undead one exists within a mausoleum of metal of its own design. The monster?s creator finishes his business with the warlord, and takes his chosen ones toward their dark doom. The monster and the rest of the rabble are left to their own devices. Slowly, they begin to recover, and seek the few space-worthy ships remaining. Onboard the Centurion, its martial grandeur reduced to a husk, a Zabrak searches the ruins of the bridge. Nothing. Just as he turns to leave, a hand erupts from the wreckage. Does the monster yet live?

A heart beats. Even without the Force, there is life. Of a sort.

Skylar knew he too was troubled. It would not be safe for all of them to lower their guard. She touched his cheek gently and retired to the empty bedroom. She would sleep four hours and would go and relieve him. It was about midnight when she heard an urgent banging on the door. She immediately jumped to her feet and placed her hand on her lightsaber.

As she opened the bedroom door, she saw two guards one was speaking, ?Knight Sannes, your Jedi Temple insist that you contact them immediately.?

?Can I contact them from here?? He pulled out his comlink, and saw it was not transmitting a long range signal.

?Negative,? the lead guard told him, ?we are having communication problems.?

He sensed Skylar behind him and she spoke to him through their newly formed bond.

It could be a trap. She kept her face passive as she waited for his response.

At the moment, I don?t sense anything. I will go. You stay here with Kaleb.

Please be careful. I will wake Kaleb. We will be ready if there is trouble.

Sky, if there is trouble, you and Kaleb are to get right to our cruiser. Do not wait for me.

The conversation through the Force took less then 30 seconds. The guards did not even realize there was a conversation. He placed his hand under his cloak and on his weapon and followed the two guards. Skylar took a cleansing breath, and went to wake Kaleb.

As she opened the door, she saw that Kaleb was already awake and pulling on his boots. He was clearly distressed, ?Where is Master Thoran??

?He went to contact the Council,? she told him quietly, ?are you all right??

?No. We have find him and we have to get out of here!? His voice had taken on a desperate tone.

?What?s wrong, Kaleb?? She asked him, ?do you sense something??

?Please, Knight Malin,? he gripped her hand tightly, ?Please, we have to find Master!?

A very loud knock on the door caused them to jump. Closing her eyes, Skylar gathered the Force around her. It did not take her long to realize that the people at the door were not friendly, she also picked up on a force signature. Darkness surrounded this figure.

She quickly placed a protective field on the door. In mere seconds she felt it dissipating. This frightened her, but she released her fear into the Force and concentrated on making her field stronger.

?Kaleb,? she gasped, ?open the window.?

He tried, ?It?s stuck!? Hopelessness was in his voice.

Skylar holding her hands in front of her with her palms out, still concentrating on keeping whoever wanted to get in, out. She was losing the battle of strength to whoever was on the other side of the door, ?Use the force,? she panted, sweat beading on her forehead, ?Hurry!?

He did as he was told, and in a moment, he was on the ledge outside the bedroom?s window. He turned to Skylar, ?Sky! Come! Hurry!?

Skylar did not dare takes her eyes off the door, she ordered him, ?Go, Kaleb. Now! Do not stop for anything, get right to our ship, and order them to take off. Make contact with Master Yoda immediately.?

?What about you and Master Thoran?? The young boy cried.

?That is an order, Padawan.? Her face was contorted in pain, ?May the Force be with you.?

Kaleb knew he could not disobey a direct order. It pained him to comply with the command, but he would do as he was told, for now. He was already working out a rescue plan in his head.

Skylar held onto the Force field for several more excruciating minutes. Once she was satisfied that Kaleb had enough of a head start, she gave up. Instantaneously she crashed to the floor, her strength depleted. Managing to pull herself to her knees, she raised her eyes to the six men entering the room.

There was Commander Lore of course with his personal guards. Behind them was a figure dressed in a black cloak, the dark side radiated around him. Skylar immediately went for her weapon, but in her weakened state, she was not fast enough.

A swift kick to her hand sent her weapon across the floor w

One Moment in Time by ObiMom

    One Moment in Time:

Padawans Obi-Wan and Siri are undercover to infiltrate a group of teenagers suspected of vandalism. One teenager, Marcus, has taken Siri to a teen dance, with Obi-Wan accompanying them. Marcus tries to get a little too aggressive with Siri, but because of their undercover status, Siri can?t defend herself as she normally would. Obi-Wan steps in....

Since he was finally free of the girls, he had been walking closer to the struggling couple while this had been going on, and was now standing inches away from Marcus. Marcus angrily raised his hand to strike Siri, when Obi-Wan grabbed his wrist firmly, stopping him. He turned in angry surprise and saw Obi-Wan's cold blue eyes staring back at him.

    "Leave her alone," he said

"Oh yeah, and who are you to tell me what to do?" Marcus demanded.

"I'm her friend, and I'm telling you to leave her alone!" Obi-Wan spoke with quiet authority. The room was silent waiting for Marcus's reaction.

"And why should I?" Marcus stood nose to nose with Obi-Wan, Obi-Wan did not back down.

But the words that came out of his mouth next surprised him, his heart could not resist to speak what was in it.

    "Because I love her!"

He heard a disappointed gasp from the girls.

Siri looked at Obi-Wan with questioning shock in her eyes. "What?" she mouthed at him.

Obi-Wan glanced at her, he then returned his stare to Marcus, "And I'm telling you to get your hands off of her."

"You love her?," Marcus put his hand down, staring down Obi-Wan, but Obi-Wan didn't flinch.

"Is this true?" Marcus turned to Siri, "Do you love him?"

Siri looked at Obi-Wan, eyes full of confusion and almost fearful to admit it, "Yes," she whispered.

Her heart sank within her. They had just settled this last year, why did it have to come out again? She felt very frustrated, almost angry with Obi-Wan. Wasn't there another way to have dealt with this? But she realized that Obi-Wan didn't mean for this to happen, having been challenged in this situation, what came out was what was in his heart. Even buried for a year, it's what came to the surface in both of them..the truth.

    .........

"Ok, ok..." Marcus backed away, and Obi-Wan started to feel relieved, thinking that might be all there was to it, at least there. He knew they would have to deal with some things later. His heart felt burdened at the prospect. Then Marcus spoke again,

    "Prove it."

"What?" Obi-Wan looked at him incredulously.

Siri paled as she looked at Obi-Wan, "Prove it?" she mouthed at him

    "I said, Prove it."

Obi-Wan was at a loss, what did he mean, prove it?

    "I mean, Kiss her."

"K..kiss her?" Obi-Wan stammered, not wanting to look at Siri, whose eyes couldn't get any bigger with the shock of how events had suddenly turned.

"Yeah, you just said you love her, now show her, and us that you do."

"Go ahead, Evan, Kiss her, show us that she's yours" said another boy.

    ............

He shook his head, "I don't have to kiss her for her to know that I love her. She knows." he looked at her and she nodded.

"Ok, then, if you're not going to do it, I guess I'll have to kiss her," Marcus said, reaching for Siri again, who backed away, staring at Obi-Wan.

Obi-Wan suddenly said, "No, I'll do it."

Siri eyes opened wide in shock "What?" she mouthed.

The group of kids circled around them, anticipating what was about to happen. Obi-Wan approached Siri, eyes saying "I'm sorry" but he reached for her hand. As he drew near her, she whispered in his ear, out of their hearing, her voice shaking with emotion, "Obi-Wan..we can't.."

"I know," he whispered back, gazing into her blue eyes, putting his hand up to her face, he caressed her cheek, and she started to protest again when he pressed his lips against hers.

Her initial resistance quickly gave way to acceptance, and Obi-Wan could feel her body relax against him as she draped her arms over his neck. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled

    Padawan Capers by obimom

    Padawan Capers by Obimom

Obi-Wan?s mission: sneak into Yoda's room while he's sleeping and take his gimer stick without waking him. Obi-Wan has just jumped into Yoda's room as Siri watched from the vent.

?Please don't get caught, Kenobi,? she silently prayed.

Obi-Wan checked his shields to make sure they were in place then silently went into Yoda's room. He was sound asleep on his bed, his gimer stick resting on the little table next to it.

Obi-Wan suddenly felt nervous. He desperately tried to keep his force signature muted, not daring to use the force lest he alert Yoda. He had been in much tougher situations on missions without the anxiety he was fighting now, but this was Yoda, the strongest, most respected and revered Jedi alive. He was suddenly wondering why he agreed to this challenge, he found himself now agreeing with his two friends...this was indeed crazy! But he was here and couldn't back out now. He made himself push the negative thoughts away. He swallowed the lump forming in his throat and was sure that gulp could be heard clear to the senate building. He slowly crept closer to where Yoda was sleeping, keeping an eye on him and on the gimer stick. Yoda's snores suddenly stopped and Obi-Wan froze, his eyes huge and his heart pounding loudly in his ears. He eyed Yoda warily, who stirred and moved in the little bed and now faced the table with the gimer stick. His clawed hand reached out and grasped the stick.

?That's it, I'm caught?. Obi-Wan closed his eyes tightly and braced himself, waiting for the fatal blow but after a few moments, Yoda's snores began again. Obi-Wan opened his eyes and silently sighed in relief, feeling the thumping of his heart against his chest. He dropped to his knees but as he slowly reached for the stick, he suddenly realized Yoda had not let go of it yet.

?Drat!? he cursed to himself, ?How am I going to get it now?? He briefly considered a force suggestion, but quickly abandoned that as insane.

He stood frozen in place and wondered what to do next. His thoughts were so intent on how to get the stick, he wasn't prepared when Yoda's voice suddenly rang out.

    ?PADAWAN KENOBI!?

As Obi-Wan peeled himself off the ceiling, he realized he was still firmly planted where he had been; inches from Yoda's stick. He felt paralyzed in that spot. Perhaps Yoda could use him for a cloak stand or a hanger for his stick, he mused to himself. He felt quite sure he would be glued to this spot for the rest of his life, or at least his Padawanship. He vaguely wondered if Qui-Gon would come visit him to feed him and give him Jedi platitudes to ponder; that might be nice...

His brain slowly regained reason as he gradually came to the realization that Yoda was indeed still sleeping and was in fact dreaming...about him!

?Oh, that's not good,? he thought worriedly.

    Wolf Whelp by AzureAngel2

Sionnach O'Conghaile grows up on a desolated farm, learning the ways of the Force. Her life drastically changes when a wandering druid shows up. He gets beheaded by her grandmother for simply talking to her. This heinous act triggers pre-natal memories, sending her back to places her mind should not be.

When Sionnach finally has the courage to consult the gatekeeper of her beloved holocron, she comes to realize that she is a clone of a stillborn princess. But there is not much time to ponder on this newfound knowledge. Her biological aunt, riding a rancor, is on her way to get her and she has to flee.

Destiny makes her end up on the desert planet of Sapuhru. Here her path crosses with that of a very powerful Force-sensitive, a son of the so-called Skywalker.

?Everything is fine, commander!? My saviour turned to one of his equally veiled soldiers. ?The young lady here fell victim to criminals that trample our holy laws with their dirty boots. Leave them to me!?

I did not wish anybody to know how much I was aware of his significance in the Force. His name though was unknown to me. Dealg had sired many children since his exile from Draconis. ?Who are You?? I asked politely.

My saviour bowed in front of me in courtly manners. ?Vicomte Ankou, at your service. And this is my Honoured step-sister Marquise Isabeau Riwalan.?

After rather chaotic circumstances Sionnach ends up as the unlike disciple of Luçien. She is willing to learn about Force healing, but not anything else. He keeps trying of course.

?Sionnach, I want you to stop being a victim. By channelling the Force into withered blasts of light-side energy, the darkness can then be diminished or destroyed permanently.?

I shook my head. ?I am not a victim unless I believe that I am. Things happened to me, true. The past cannot be undone. I learned from it though. All events made me the very person that I am. I am grateful for it.?

Soon, Sionnach gets sucked into the net of intrigues that spin through her master´s life:

Luçien strode into our common chamber as soon as he had heard of this incident. ?I am not sure what to say or what consolation I can offer you.?

I was sitting on my bed, which was placed opposite his own. ?I am only sad for your mother. She suffers from a phenomena known as granny lust. With all the children around her it is only understandable. She herself cannot conceive any longer. Now she looks to us in despair.?

His breath came irregular. ?I can only ensure you that I share your sentiment about us not becoming parents.?

I had to withstand my impulse to give him a hug. He was my master. The care I felt for him was strictly professional. We were both glad about that.

But it is not all the unwanted children in her life that turn it into a living hell. It is rather the complex code of honour of her master:

The yellow spark that appeared in his iris proofed that I hit upon the truth. It was not the first occasion that the Force had strengthened my intuition like this. I was glad that I was not a seer. It was a dreadful gift to have.

?Please do not tell me that you hunted down Dian!? While I spoke thus my heart knew that the father of Eibhear was dead. ?He could not help what happened.?

?Do not find excuses for him!? His voice lashed out at me like a whip.

Tears of despair ran over my face. ?He had lost his beloved wife and his unborn child.?

    ?I lost dear ones, too.?

?Luçien, it was the alcohol and despair speaking. I never held him responsible for what had happened that night. It was an accident.?

His face was almost unrecognisable with hate. His feline nature embraced the Dark Side with open arms. ?I restored your honour.?

Yet her greatest enemy is the Dark Side itself. It tries to devour her through fear and anger.

The shock of a gloved hand clamping around my right wrist made me yelp. His mesmerizing cat eyes filled my view. My soul was on fire.

    Miracle Fruit by SoA

Independent xenobotanist Mirian Zaberflopsen recently discovered sweeping health benefits of the native Corellian fruit, nostrum. Nostrums, when lightly modified, reduce the risk of heart disease, cancers, diabetes, and memory loss while improving the complexion and luster of skin, hair, fur, scales, and feathers. -HoloNews Network

After contacting seven skeptical suppliers, Kionee hired a speeder to take her to the University. Already, there was a cluster of media vans near the entrance to the lecture hall. Across the square, in front of the Biology Department building, a group of elementary students picketed with colorful signs in the shape of fruit reading, 'Eat fruit every day!' and 'Fruit are healthy!' Wisps of a song they sang reached Kionee's ears, ?Nostrum, the miracle fruit! The more you eat the more you...?

Shaking her head, Kionee paid the driver and stepped out. The moment she entered the lecture hall building, she was accosted by reporters, microphones thrust into her face.

?Here comes the moderator for today's discussion,? an excited reporter announced into her camera, ?The daughter of the founder of Rinnh Imports. Miss Rinnh, do you think that Mirian Zaberflopsen is a fraud??

?Miss Rinnh, do nostrums really exist??

Kionee ignored them, staring straight ahead, keeping her lips sealed shut. She wasn't to say anything until the press conference officially began.

Finally, Kionee reached the door to the lecture hall stage and stepped inside. She was free of the reporters. She settled into her seat on the stage and waited, surveying the packed auditorium before her and swallowed hard. Now this is something I've never done before...

Finally, Marc Tullup appeared and took his seat beside her. He nodded and Kionee stood, taking up the microphone, ?Thank you everyone for coming out today to discuss the identity of the nostrum. With me is Professor Marc Tullup, who has been testing samples of alleged nostrums that I collected yesterday from various suppliers.?

?Alleged! Those are the real thing!? a man in the middle of auditorium, one of her suppliers, jumped to his feet.

Kionee cleared her throat and continued, ?No less than seven distinct fruits were presented to me, under the name of 'nostrum.'? Kionee removed the cloth from the table that covered the row of seven fruit with a dramatic flick of her wrist.

Cameras flashed, people gasped, and others leaped up, yelling their protest.

?As you can see,? Kionee continued over the racket, ?They are all unique and unrelated. And, with the exception of this one,? she picked up the cream-colored fruit covered in sharp spikes, ?they are of species never before seen in the produce market. This one is some kind of pygmy durian.?

By now, everyone was on their feet, screaming something in argument. She could hardly hear herself over the PA any more.

?However...? she started, but clearly no one was listening. Holding the spiky fruit in the air threateningly, she roared, ?I have a durian and I know how to use it! Don't make me smash this open!?

Suddenly, the audience fell silent, looks of horror on their faces. The idea of that rancid fruit's odors filling the room was enough to quiet them. Stiffly, they took their seats again.

?That's better,? Kionee snapped, still holding up the fruit for effect, ?As I was saying: all seven of the fruits seem to have the properties of nostrums, as claimed by Mirian Zaberflopsen. Let's all listen to Professor Tullup now, shall we??

There were a few irritable murmurs in the audience. Kionee waved the durian suggestively.

?Thanks Kionee,? Tullup said as he stood up. He went on to explain that his genetic tests had proven that all seven of the fruits, even the pygmy durian, possessed the health benefits of nostrums, and therefore must be considered nostrums, having no other existing classification.

    Kionee took the m

A Second Chance for the Fallen by SoA

Now it's time to get over this,
Long as it's clear you understand,
That I will never trust a single thing you say again.

The Ebon Hawk was safely in hyperspace, away from the terrors of the Leviathan and Darth Malak. At long last, Carth had been able to kill his ex-mentor Saul Karath, taking his revenge for the destruction Saul had wrought on Telos, killing Carth's wife and son. And yet, Carth could find no peace.

He stared coldly at the woman he had grown to love as she approached him across the cabin. ?So, you've been Revan this whole time,? he accused, more harshly than he meant to.

?Carth,? Ev pleaded, ?That's not who I am now??

?Is it?? Carth argued bitterly, ?Those hands are the hands that tore the Republic apart. Those hands killed millions. If not for you, my family would still be alive!?

?Carth, you know that that was Malak and Saul who destroyed Telos,? Ev argued helplessly.

?But Malak was your apprentice!? Carth accused, ?You fell and took him with you.?

?That's not who I am now, Carth,? Ev replied with firmness in her insecurity, ?I'm on your side. I'm changed. I don't even remember any of that. Please believe me.?

    ?As if I could.?

You stole so much from me and there is nothing left to take,
Save a hard learned lesson on how to not make the same mistake.

Ev lingered in the back of the cockpit as Carth prepared to take the Ebon Hawk out of hyperspace near Korriban. ?Carth,? she started hesitantly.

    He ignored her.

    ?Carth please,? Ev started again.

?What do you want?? Carth asked gruffly, not turning around to look at her.

?Carth, you don't have to forgive me. You don't even have to accept me,? Ev started shakily, ?but we do need to communicate. We cannot finish this mission and destroy the Star Forge as enemies.?

Carth tossed a look over his shoulder. ?How can I look at your face now and see anything but an enemy?? Carth demanded coldly, ?You brought the Sith back and it was the Sith who took my family?my life away.? And then you went and took my heart too.

Although it remained unsaid, Ev seemed to understand his meaning. ?For the good of our mission, at least consider it,? she requested, then fled the cockpit.

Take a good look at yourself and know,
You've got yourself a ways to go.
    But difficult is not impossible,
You can take back all the lost control.

With Korriban behind them, Carth thought he would be able to breathe easy again.

Yet, turmoil still simmered inside him.

Sure, they were flying into the complete unknown on this crazy mission to save the Republic, but that wasn't what bothered.

?Ev,? Carth called hesitantly up towards the gun turret that she always seemed to hide in when she was upset.

    ?What?? came her terse reply.

Carth climbed the ladder and poked his head up into the space above. ?Ev,? he repeated, ?Can we talk??

?Oh, if you finally feel like it, please start talking,? she replied with a hint of bitterness, still staring out at the blue swirls of hyperspace.

?I'm sorry,? Carth started earnestly. ?I'm sorry for how I've treated you recently.?

She looked down to stare at him, her expression unreadable beyond a faint light of hope in her eyes.

?After all this, I can't hate you,? Carth admitted, ?Force knows, I've tried. I refused to look at what you've done, what you're doing. You're taking back your life despite all that you did in the past, despite what the Jedi did to you. And, really, I'm not sure how you do it. Ev, you're so strong. When I think about it all, it amazes me.?

Her eyes glistened and she chanced a small smile, ?Thank you Carth.?

?I've looked inside myself, and I think I still love you, after all of this,? Carth admitted, ?If you can forgive me.?

?What is there to forgive?? Ev asked, tearily.

?I know that somewhere inside of you, Revan may still be hiding, waiting to burst out and take over again,? Carth took a deep breath, ?But if that tim

Skylar Malin took great care in dressing that morning. She wore her best tunic and leggings and had her new robe on the bed, ready to slip on. Looking in the mirror, she combed her hair and almost started to braid the long thin lock of hair that grew from behind her right ear. But, she decided to let someone else do the honor.

The padawan, soon to be knight, left the bedroom that had been hers for almost twelve years. She was ten when she first became Qui-Gon Jinn's padawan. But, after this afternoon, she would no longer be his student. She would be his peer.

Qui-Gon was seated on the couch, looking over notes for one mission or another. The Jedi Master looked up as he student entered the common room. Qui-Gon offered her a warm smile. Wordlessly, the young woman took her spot at his feet. Handing him the comb and hair ties, Qui-Gon nodded that he understood.

and began the task of braiding the lock that he had braided over a decade before. There were no need for words. The task was carried on in silence.

In just a few minutes, the hair was braided, and Skylar and Qui-Gon stood up. Skylar, who stood only 5'3, looked up at her Master. Tears filled her eyes as she fought to keep control of her feelings. There is no emotion, there is the force.

Qui-Gon gently pulled her into an embrace, "It's all right to show your feelings, Skylar, there is no weakness in that."

Skylar nodded against her master's chest. As much as she wanted to be a knight, she would miss the man who raised her, who trained her, who loved her. She has spent half her life by this man's side. Waking up tomorrow would be very strange indeed. At the same time, the two parted and Skylar took a deep breath, "I'm ready, Master."

Nodding, the elder Jedi replied, "Then lets not keep the council waiting, Padawan."

Excusing herself, Skylar went to the padawan bedroom to retrieve her robe. She took a moment to reflect. The room was now devoid of everything that the young woman had collected over the years. Her whole life sat in boxes, ready to be moved to her Knights quarters later on that afternoon. The room looked the same it did twelve years ago. Taking the robe off the bed, Skylar slipped it on and walked to the bedroom door. Taking one last glance, she closed the door behind her.

Qui-Gon was waiting at the door. Together they left the apartment and Skylar fell into place to her master's left and one step behind. In quiet companionship they walked down the quiet halls of the temple towards the council hall. It would be the last time that Skylar would accompany her Master as his student. In a short time, they would be peers.

Skylar knelt before her master in front of the council. Qui-Gon caressed her head with his large hand. Then he took her padawan braid between two fingers.

"Skylar, you have been a good apprentice. But a padawan you are no longer," with delft fingers, the Jedi Master severed her braid with a pair of shears. "You are now a Jedi Knight."

The young woman looked up at her former master, his eyes were filled with pride. He put out his hand, and she took it and allowed him to help her up. Once she was standing again, Qui-Gon gave her a warm embrace.

Later that evening, after a party with her peers, Skylar got herself organized in her new quarters. Not that she would be staying there for long periods of time. In two days she would be leaving for her first solo mission. As nervous as she was, she knew she was ready. Qui-Gon had taught her well. Then she would be expected to take a padawan of her own. Skylar already knew Qui-Gon was anticipating a second apprentice. But she did not approve of the boy who had caught her former master's eye. Xanatos was a fine student, but a very selfish boy. She only hoped that Qui-Gon would not choose him.

A Little Naked Obi by obimom

    A Little Naked Obi

Four year old Obi-Wan Kenobi stepped out of the bath in the creche facilities and reached for a towel. To his utter surprise, three year old Siri Tachi stood also surprised, holding said towel in her hand.

"Siri!" Obi-Wan squeaked, "what are you doing here?" Too young to have become modest and too innocent to be embarrassed, he stood before her.

"Getting a towel for the creche master. Bant spilled her juice. What are you doing here?" Siri's eyes widened and her innocent voice quivered in astonishment. "Are you naked?"

"What do you think? I just took a bath!" Obi-Wan said indignantly. "Give me back my towel and leave, please!"

Siri's eyes grew wide as they were drawn to Obi-Wan's lower regions. "What's that?" she asked in awe, pointing.

    "What?"

"That!" Siri reached closer, nearly touching Obi-Wan's...um..."that".

Obi-Wan backed away, "Oh, that. That's my pee-pee. It's how I go to the bathroom. Don't you have one?"

Siri shook her head solemnly, then narrowed her eyes suspiciously, as though realizing she had been shorted something important.

"Where did you get yours?" she asked accusingly.

    Obi-Wan shrugged. "I don't know. I"ve always had it, I guess."

"Well, can I have one?" Siri asked. Sunny blonde hair fell to her shoulders, framing a cherubic face and large hopeful blue eyes.

"I don't know." Obi-Wan said thoughtfully. Then his eyes brightened. "We can ask Master Ti-Hara."

"Yes!" Siri grinned happily and nodded her head eagerly, "Lets!"

Qui-Gon reached for the triangular plate next to the door, but the pearly white barrier slid aside before he touched it. Jedi Knight Gu'usshuss floated just inside. He wore only minimal clothing over his smooth gray-green skin, beige tabbards covered his broad shoulders, crossed over and concealed his lower body, the long ends floating free. His lightsaber floated outward from the wide belt around his middle, a beige sash of fabric under that. The gill slits on his neck rippled when he saw both of them, but his large purple eyes remained expressionless. He moved to the side to let them in.

An artificial image of a rippling, sunny blue surface covered most of the ceiling inside casing irregular shades of shadow and reflected blue light in the room. The oxygen in their masks, extracted from the water for them by the breather units, tasted saltier, more stale in the confined space.

"Master Qui-Gon. I was expecting you to come alone." Gu'usshuss's low voice burbled in the water.

Qui-Gon folded his arms before him into the wide floating sleeves of his robe. "You asked for my assistance. My Padawan is as capable as I. In all things." The breather mask amplified his voice with a slight wavering distortion.

Obi-Wan's eyes went from Gu'usshuss to his Master.

The other Jedi lowered his unblinking eyes, yeilding.

"There is a child here who has Jedi potential," Qui-Gon stated. Gu'usshuss flinched.

"I will get her." He swam to a wide hole in the back of the room, his leg fins propelling him

Puzzled, Obi wondered why his Master had not told him that this was their mission. Taking a youngling to the Temple to be trained as a Jedi was a routine task. He had accompanied his Master on a few retrievals before.

Gu'usshuss returned, holding a strap loop. The other end was attached to a harness secured around the plump body of a bobbing youngling, limbs and fins swishing in the water.

    "Goo-goo-goo-eeeeeeeeeeeeek!"

His large eyes full of worry, Gu'usshuss watched the youngling gurgle and happily squeal and swim up to Qui-Gon's face mask. He only frowned back and unaffected by his cold reception, she moved on Obi-Wan.

    "Eeeeeeeeeeeeek-ooooh!"

Her mouth opened in a big, happy 'O', her fluttering gill slits and innocent purple eyes large on her face and neck. Her webbed fingers explored/>

Silent Scream & Awakening by tjace

Note: This excerpt contains the second story, Awakening. Silent Scream has been posted in my excerpt for Best Canon.

A woman lies in a valley of shadow. She once was alive: but now she is nothing. Her heart is stone, her soul is dust.

The darkness has feasted on the others, and now will savor this one. It has been patient: it has betrayed her, as she betrayed her brethren. It has made her know pain, and will still further acquaint her.

From beyond the darkness comes a light. A voice calls out from its midst.

Awaken. The one word is a symphony. The giver of life, the origin of beauty has come.

The darkness protests. She is mine!

She is of stone, and yet can feel the vibration of the struggle, the battle of song. The song is alive: it?s the heartbeat of life.

No. She is mine; she was sealed at the beginning of time.

She is of stone: but she is melting.

The darkness knows it cannot resist. Not now. I?ll be back! This isn?t over!

Begone. The darkness recedes, howling. The voice again speaks to the corpse.

Come awake, come awake, come and rise up from the grave!

And now she is the singer.

For you and you alone awake my soul; Awake my soul, and sing.

    She opens her eyes.

Through the darkness has come a light. She ignites her blade: like the rising sun it shines.

She herself c

Tahl in Forged bonds by The1stJediPrincess

Qui-Gon felt guilty for not saying good-bye to Skylar, but the man was incensed with her even though he knew it was wrong to be.

There was one person who might understand his feelings. Leaving Xanatos to his studies, he made his way to Tahl?s apartment. She opened her door and welcomed him into the common area.

Once they were seated on the couch she wryly said, ?Somehow I get the feeling you did not come here to just see me.?

Qui-Gon ran his hands over his face, ?Is it that obvious??

?What? That you are broadcasting for the whole temple to feel your anxiety, or the fact you have been a stubborn fool??

Leave it to Tahl to put the writing on the wall. Never one to take an indirect path; she would always say what needed to be said.

?I don?t feel I?ve been stubborn,? he said half heartedly, ?Do you know she has begun a relationship with Thoran Sannes??

?So, I have heard,? was the reply, ?do you have a problem with Thoran? I have always found him to be congenial and charming. He has a fine reputation as a knight.?

Qui-Gon began pacing, so Tahl knew he was bothered by the recent turn of events, ?I know his reputation says his is a fine knight. I just hope Skylar does not get so caught up in the moment that she throws away her training.?

?Qui-Gon, I?m surprised at you,? Tahl gently admonished. ?You know as well as I that Skylar is dedicated. I think she can handle the her duties as a Jedi along with a relationship. Furthermore, don?t you feel you are being disingenuous? After all, don?t we have a relationship??

?That is beside the point, Tahl,? but he knew it wasn?t any different. ?The Council approved for her to go a mission with him and his new student.?

?Kaleb Faln,? she nodded, ?polite boy. I?ve taught him. He is always eager to learn, always eager to please.?

?He started a fight with Xani,? Qui-Gon told her hotly.

?You saw him start a fight with your apprentice?? She questioned.

?No, but Xan told me all about it.?

    ?And that makes it so??

Qui-Gon let out an exasperated sigh, ?not you too. Xanatos is a exceptional student and I?m blessed to have him. To be honest with you, I think Skylar is envious.?

Tahl let out an skeptical laugh, ?you can?t be serious. You did not say that to her, did you?? When Qui-Gon did not answer, she added, ?you are more of a fool then I thought.?

?Then why else would she have acted the way she did? She did not even back me up.? To himself he thought, of course not, you stupid man, you barged into her apartment full of accusations and not willing to listen.

?Qui-Gon, you raised a confident young woman, and you should be proud,? she told him, ?she could not be jealous of any apprentice you would train, especially not Xanatos. Tell me, how is the bond coming along??

?Slower then I would like, but it?s there.?

?Slower then when you trained Sky?? She gently asked him.

He merely nodded, ?but it will get stronger, I know it will.?

She grabbed his hand and he stopped pacing, she pulled him down next to her and turned him around so his back was facing her, she then began to massage his shoulders. He leaned back into her and allowed her to knead his stress away.

?You are so tense, Qui-Gon,? she continued to massage, ?how was Skylar before she left for Lok??

?I don?t know,? he answered remorsefully, ?I did not see her or say goodbye to her.?

Tahl did not respond. That was very out of character for Qui-Gon. She decided not to press the issue. She sensed he already felt guilty and needed time. She would be there when he wanted to talk more on the issue. She could feel him starting to relax as she massaged away all of his tension. A contented silence took the place of apprehension.

Abruptly Qui-Gon?s comlink went off, and the quiet mood was broken.

Aggravated, Qui-Gon pulled it out and brusquely answered, ?Jinn here.?

?Master Jinn,? came the voice of Amaya Cas, ?have you heard from Knights Malin or Sannes?

Thoran in Forged bonds by The1stJediPrincess

Thoran was a great Jedi and a good man. They had been best friends for many years, and over the course of time, Skylar began to have feelings for him. But, as with all Jedi, the Order and duty came first.

Walking down the halls, she heard quiet voices in an alcove. Glancing over, she saw Thoran and his new apprentice, Kaleb Faln. Kaleb had just turned thirteen. He was a boy of medium build with brown hair and eyes that were warm and bright. The eager eyes at the moment were filled with tears and he was sporting a large bruise under one eye.

?But I didn?t start it, Master Thoran,? Kaleb choked out, obviously losing the fight to hold back tears, ?Why don?t you believe me??

Skylar was not surprised to hear patience in his tone as he responded, ?It?s not that I don?t believe you, Kaleb, but Master Jinn was very clear when he told me that you were the one who started the altercation between yourself and Padawan De?Crion.?

Kaleb looked his master in the eye, and in a voice that was more frustration then disrespect replied, ?He was not there, Master. It was just me and Xanatos. Xanatos was angry because I was able to beat him in a sparring match at class today. He wanted to go again, so I said yes. He was angry because I beat him again, so he hit me!?

?So you sparred with another Padawan without a Master present?? Thoran asked, still patient, but stern. ?You know that is against the rules.?

?I didn?t want to spar him again, Master, but he was picking on me, telling me the only reason I won was because I got lucky.?

Thoran placed his hand on Kaleb?s shoulder, ?There is no such thing as luck, if you beat him, then you did it of your own accord. However, that does not excuse your behavior. You will do extra meditations tonight for your error in judgment and you are confined to our quarters until we leave for Lok.?

    ?But Master??

The boy stopped when Thoran held up his hand, ?This is not open to negotiation, Padawan, or you will be left at the temple for this mission. Now, go straight home. I will be there soon.?

Kaleb bowed to his master and turned to leave, disappointment radiating off of him. As he went to pass Skylar, he stopped to give her a respectful bow before he continued on.

Skylar gave her friend an encouraging smile, ?You were good with him.?

Thoran rubbed the bridge of his nose, ?You think so? I think he would beg to differ right now.?

They began to walk side by side, ?only because he is a boy, and sometimes children do not realize they are their own worst enemy. Besides, anyone can see he is just too polite and respectful to disagree with you. He was fighting with Xanatos??

Sighing, he replied, ?yes, which is bad enough, however, Master Jinn?s handling of the situation really got under my skin.?

Skylar felt her stomach drop, ?What do you mean??

?Sky, I know he is your former master and all, but he was not even interested in hearing Kaleb?s side of the story. According to Kaleb and his friends, Qui-Gon believes everything the boy tells him. I never knew him to be such a fool.? He stopped abruptly, afraid he was going to offend her.

?I?m not offended, Thoran,? she honestly told him. ?I?m surprised too. Master Qui-Gon never tolerated rudeness with me when I was growing up. Plus, he kept very close track of me, I would have never been able to get away with a stunt like that.?

Thoran smiled as she reminisced, ?He sure did keep track of you.? He reached out and took her hand. Her heart skipped a beat, but she made no attempt to move her hand away. ?He never let you go anywhere without a full itinerary of where you were going and who you were going with.?

His hand was rough and soft at the same time. She liked how it felt, ?I know. But I guess he can?t do that anymore.?

Thoran stopped and guided her into the map room. It was deserted this time of day. ?I?ve missed you," he told her.

They were standing face to face, she was looking u

Skylar in Forged bonds by The1stJediPrincess

    Padawan Capers by obimom

    Yoda - Padawan Capers

Yoda quietly hobbled over to the vent at his ceiling, all eyes following him. He studied it for a moment, and then lowered his head, shaking it sadly. He then slowly walked over to his bedroom door and just stood there a moment, looking in.

Everyone else stood silently, watching him.

Finally he walked up to Obi-Wan, looked at him with ears drooping, eyes sad. Obi-Wan couldn't stand to see Yoda looking at him like that. In spite of the fact that Qui-Gon had put him up to this, he felt ashamed.

?Disappointed in you, I am, young Obi-Wan,? Yoda finally said, shaking his head sadly. Obi-Wan's head dropped.

Obi-Wan blushed in shame. ?I'm so sorry, Master Yoda...? but Yoda cut him off.

?Disappointed that failed your mission, you have.? His eyes glinted at Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan looked with surprise at Yoda, who twitched his ears and grinned slyly. Obi-Wan looked up to his Master, whose expression remained unchanged. He looked again at Master Yoda.

    ?Fail?failed my mission??

?Failed you did, young one. Failed to take my gimer stick, you did, without waking me,? Yoda said.

Obi-Wan looked wide eyed at him, then at Qui-Gon who seemed to be intensely interested in some activity outside Yoda's window, then back down to Yoda, ?But, ..but..I didn't wake you Master, you were sound asleep!? Obi-Wan protested.

?Yes, sleeping I was, but aware of your presence I was,? Yoda answered him as he tapped Obi-Wan chest with his gimer stick.

?But I was soundless! ..I was...? he looked to Siri for help, who just looked at him sympathetically. Qui-Gon shifted his feet slightly, but remained quiet.

?Like a herd of banthas you were, traipsing around in my apartment, young one,? Yoda insisted, tapping a little harder on his chest. Obi-Wan put his hand on the spot where Yoda tapped it, rubbing where it was beginning to hurt.

    ?But I thought....?

?Thought you say? Hm? No, ?Thought? you must not, ?Know? you must. Only by knowing will you succeed.? Yoda looked at him wisely, a spark of humor beginning to light his eyes. He grinned again.

Palpatine in The Rise of Palpatine by JediStretch

So enraged was he that he then started flinging any nearby loose object at the dead bodies before him.

excerpts from One Moment In Time

"You WHAT?" Qui-Gon demanded, looking shocked at Obi-Wan. Adi went to Siri and looked at her questioningly.

"I...I...Kissed Siri, Master. I...had to...or felt I had to...This Marcus was trying to press her, and claim her as his, and she told him no, and I felt I had to do something, so I shook the girls off of me.."

"The girls?" Qui-Gon eyebrows shot up.

"Well, yeah, it was like you said this morning, they were bothering me, so,...when I told Marcus to leave her alone, he demanded to know why, and I...the words came out before I could stop them..I said..because I love her" Qui-Gon's eyebrows could not have shot up any higher ..."I didn't know Marcus was going to demand proof, demand that I kiss her...I didn't know what else to do...so I kissed her." Finished, Obi-Wan looked completely miserable. Adi hid a smile.

"So you just kissed her", Qui-Gon repeated. "There was nothing else you could do? ..you couldn't negotiate your way out of it? so you kissed her?"

"Yes, Master" Obi-Wan said, looking so dejected and guilty, Siri decided to come to his defense.

"Master Qui-Gon" Siri interjected. "I was upset too when he first did it, but after he kissed me, they all backed off of us, Marcus even declaring that I belong to Evan and that no one is to bother us again," She shook her head at that, "The idea that a girl "belongs" to a boy irritated me, but it did seem to work. After I got off the floor.."

"Off the floor?" Qui-Gon asked, eyebrows raised again.

"Well, when he kissed me..I ..sort of fainted". Siri blushed deeply at this.

Adi gasped and said "Siri! Are you ok?"

"I'm fine, Master, It was only for a moment. Obi-Wan helped me up, and then they seemed to accept us as a couple after that, and they've invited us to a gathering at the camping grounds seventh evening after late meal.

"Is this going to result in some real information concerning the mission?" Qui-Gon asked.

    ************************

Siri awoke early the next morning, stretching, and decided to go out the back garden and do some lightsaber drills. She had gone to sleep remembering every moment of their kiss together, and her sleep had been filled with dreams about Obi-Wan. She woke up heavy hearted, knowing she needed to get past this. Lightsaber drills always helped her relieve stress.

    ............

Siri stepped out into the morning, walked toward an open part of the garden, hidden by trees. She saw movement, and stopped, looking through the trees. Obi-Wan was practicing Katas, his form perfect, and her heart fluttered at the sight of him. She took a deep breath and pushed the feeling away as she watched him for a moment. Obi-Wan perfectly executed the positions and she admired his skill and precision, then made a decision. She stepped into the circle where he was, and drew her lightsaber, looking at him.

Obi-Wan stopped and looked at her. He grinned, "Is this a challenge, Siri Tachi?" he asked.

"You'd better believe it, Obi-Wan Kenobi. I need some payback for last night."

"Oh ho! We'll see about that."

He drew his lightsaber and then stood in the ready position. Siri raised her lightsaber and attacked, and the spar was on. They circled each other, their lightsabers singing in the morning air, Siri lunged in an upward swing, Obi-Wan deftly blocked it and spun his lightsaber to hit her side. Her lightsaber met his with a hum, and there was a furious dance between them of motion and spinning lightsabers. Obi-Wan flipped over her head, and she spun around to meet his attack, and with a series of furious hits, pushed him back. He could see that she was releasing the emotions of the previous evening, and he felt the tensions falling from him also. They continued their sparring, meeting each others blows. They knew each others movements and stradegies so well, and met each one with their own. They continued until they both fell, exhausted, onto the ground, their ligh

    BREAKING NEWS: FOEROST SYSTEM ATTACKED

HoloNet News has learned, in a breaking news story, that the Foerost system was attacked by a large fleet at 0240 GST. Nighttime for most of the system, eyewitnesses report seeing a massive fleet of possibly two thousand ships jumping in a few thousand kilometers from the precise location of the drydocks ringing Foerost IV and Foerost V. Eyewitnesses report that the number of ships on patrol duty were destroyed within a matter of minutes by fighters and unknown classes of starcruisers.

Correspondent Cata, speaking hurriedly before jumping toward the Foerost System minutes ago, stated that ?in terms of raw numbers, the Mandalorians are the only force capable of massing a fleet this large, this quickly.? An analyst at the Ministry of Defense, speaking anonymously for fear of leaking information, told HoloNet News that ?this appears to be a classic Mandalorian first strike; big, bold, and right at a critical juncture. Their first major attack on the Republic disrupted supply lines and caused havoc. It looks like this attack is meant to destroy our rebuilding efforts.?

Erik sighed. "I've got some bad news."

Skye raised a skeptical eyebrow. "Considering the last couple of days, I'm pretty sure I don't want to know what can be considered bad news now."

"I'm fairly certain I didn't want to know either," Erik shrugged and sat down at his terminal, typing deftly. "Remember how I said I couldn't sleep, and was monitoring communications last night?"

    Skye nodded. "Yeah."

"Well, I forgot to turn off the program before I left, so I had a couple of hours of text to go through when I got back. Mostly uninteresting, but for one communication." He pulled up the file.

"That's some heavy duty encryption," Skye squinted at it. "Do we have anything that can break that?"

"We didn't," Erik replied. "So I had Jash take a look at it. Turns out, it's Karath's personal encryption, not any of the official military ones."

    "How did he know that?"

"Jash found it on the main computer months ago," Erik grinned. "For a guy smart enough to obtain his own encryption key, he wasn't smart enough to hide it from the ship-board cryptographer. We decrypted the message and funneled it straight to text." He brought up another file and expanded it to fill his terminal.

Skye leaned in and quickly read over it, eyes growing wide. "No. No, no no. This is not happening."

"Unfortunately, it is." Erik switched over to another workspace, which had a growing list of encrypted files. "When we read that, we knew we had to go back and see what else has been going on, so we're scanning every date directory since Squint left for any record using that encryption key."

Skye backed up and started pacing, running her hands nervously through her short black hair. "How did we not notice this happening? We monitor the lines here, we've been keeping track of things for more than a year. This is the Admiral we're talking about. I know he didn't love the Jedi, but how could he turn on the Republic?"

"We always left the encrypted stuff alone, unless it was an emergency," Erik reminded her. "Something about ethics. I think you brought it up first."

Skye stopped pacing and blinked. "Now is not the time for logic. Admiral Karath gave them the codes to enter and destroy Foerost. That's kind of a huge kriffing deal."

Erik nodded. "Well, I've been pondering exit strategies-"

    "No."

"No?" he looked at her curiously.

"We've got to stay," Skye replied firmly. "At least for now. As long as Karath appears loyal to the Republic, we have to appear loyal to him. We have his encryption key, we can intercept his transmissions. Maybe, just maybe, we can avert disaster."

"Or the Admiral can catch us and have us arrested. Or killed. I hear the Sith are big into killing."
