Welcome everyone to the 2011 Before/Saga Fan Fiction Awards thread. Just a few important rules to go over before the fun begins.

What this thread is for:
-to list nommed fics
-to list qualified fics
-a place for you to ask questions about the rules and awards process
-a reference thread to help you throughout the awards process
-pointing out mistakes in our nomming lists


What this thread is NOT for:
-celebrating your noms (while we are happy for you, this is not the place to throw a party--take it to PMs or IM)
-a place to discuss your personal noms since that is private information. If you have a question on whether or not a specific nom was counted, please discuss it with us via PM.

2) Go through and get ideas of whom you want to nominate.

I have a question about registration.

Do we have to register to nominate and then register to vote for each award process or only once for everything?


Also, on a related note, do we need to register again next year?

 

You only have to register one time and then you will be on the list for years to come.

 

Okay, this is probably going to sound like a silly question, but I've been wondering it since I first participated: are we supposed to fix the links when we send them in? I mean, do we *just* copy and paste them, fill in the urls, titles, etc. or are we supposed to replace the "{" with "[" before we submit them?

I seem to recall mixed answers when I volunteered last year, and we didn't mark any as ineligible. Is one way easier on the volunteers than another?

 

Just leave the markup codes broken, I tend to think that makes things easier all around.

Question - can you make multiple nominations per category, or just one per?

 

One nomination per category per era.

Um, you may want to fix your post where it says
Best New Author (must have started first story between June 1, 2008 to May 31, 2009. I hope no one took that seriously.

I've noticed that a link in Obi-Wan has a bad day by Cade_Cryocharger (Saga, Best Humour) leads to the author's profile, not to the story.

 

Oh, blast! Nominations end tomorrow? I haven't had time to do a proper set of nominations because, well, my sister is getting married tomorrow and I'm the maid of honor. Is there any way that nominations could be extended? I wish I had more time tonight but I'm incredibly wiped out right now. I realize the answer is likely no but the qualifying nominations list is also looking rather worryingly slim. (Not that I have a snowball's chance in hell, mind, but there are lots of authors up there who deserve the recognition!!)

 

Nominations are now closed, the final list will be posted either tonight or tomorrow depending on how much time I have.

 

You may need to check this, but I won Best Author back in 2001, before the sagas were invented. I don't know if I'm eligible. Thanks, though!

 

I double checked and you are right, apparently I didn't look at the list as well as I thought I did. I fixed it.

 

I also advice happy people that get nominated NOT to tell their partner while standing on a staircase, basically singing with joy like a certain character from "Sound of Music".

I never saw that kiss coming. Neither did my jaw when his skull went up. I am still happy for the nominations but you do not want to know how split my under lip is now and how sorry my husband is.

I hope he dares to kiss me again should I really win for any of the nominations. Or if I do not at all as a sweet comfort.

He sits in his office now, highly embarrassed, while I hope the bleeding and swelling stops at one point.

So my security advice is:Stay calm when you find yourself nominated! Make no hasty movements in your enthusiasm! Get seated safely and enjoy your nomination!

The FAQ sticky at the top of this board has a current list of winners, including some not on the link provided to a list of past winners.

 

It has been fixed.

 

Found another one - I'm NOT elig for Best Drama/Saga - Even Jedi Cry was a tie last year. Sorry - I think I've found them all.

 

Uh, I received a PM saying I'd qualified, but my story is only listed on the Nominations list. So... do I need to sort out an excerpt or not?

 

Am I missing something? I can't seem to find the exerpts thread?
