Discussion 2011 Fanfic Resolutions

1. Read more fics by other folks and thereby make more fanfic friends
2. Knock off another Sailor Moon fanfiction arc and get it out of my hair

I'm going to TRY to go back to my chapter-a-week pace whenever I'm not traveling, rotating between my three main fics and adding in little other fics in between. That's the hope anyway. Though, it's not really a resolution.

 

Last year:

I still have things I need to read so I guess I failed at my first resolution. Wrote and posted both stories I asked myself to. I came really close to meeting my long-form fic goal. Seven chapters down instead of ten. Sarah Conner yet eludes me.

Setting things I wasn't sure I'd complete actually worked out for me in 2KX. Though I completely forgot about them, so how much motivation is it really
I'm not here to argue with (mostly) success though.

This year:

-Finish Braken Starblaster, Space Politico
-Do something with Remy and Jav again. I miss those guys.

I call this a two-prong plan, or "hot dog grilling fork."

 

I had 3 goals last year and failed all of 'em

*hangs head*

So for this year, my sole resolution is to finish what I start. Be it a short story, vignette or whatever.

Let's hope at this time next year, I'll be celebrating

 

I want to write faster!

I finish what I write online only because I finish them before posting any of them. All the unfinished things stay hidden. But that means holding back for a looooooooooong time when the stories get long, like the ones I'm working on now.

 

Don't knock having no readers. If you write something that technically violates the rules, but the mods don't say anything for six months, you get to leave it up there. That's why, if you go back far enough in the boards, you can find all the hardcore porn.

 

I've been digging around in the back pages and if there's any serious stuff back there it doesn't have any Qui-Gon in it, so it can't be very good.

 

1. Finish Revolution of Fate this year. ( ...i.e I don't think it's ever going to happen.)

2. Finish every otherfan-fic I started last year but let fall by the way-side. (Again: )

Oh I wish I could be less lazy but...I'm a single, very boring art student darn it. [Finds a half-empty bottle of scotch and goes searching for a can of coke.]

 

I can't remember my resolutions from last year, and won't bother to go look them up for fear of what I may find. I'm pretty sure I didn't finish any of them, like usual.

This year, I have one very simple goal:

Keep up with the 50 Sentences Challenge for an entire year (so, four tables a month) just to see if I can manage to keep something going for that long.

Oh, and experiment with more fandoms, I guess. I'm very thankful for NSWFF, it's like my home now.

I didn't make any last year, but I do recall failing mine for 2009 quite miserably.

This year I want to:

1. Post something at least once a week.

2. Figure out how to finish that Beyond epic I started... and then wrote myself into a corner. Gah!

3. Find time to read more people's stories.

 

You, good Sir, have officially won one free internet (and made me really tempted to see if this theory holds up even today).

 

So many ideas for resolutions, but here goes...

-Update Allecto and Masquerade once a month, at least.

-Finish Allecto within the year.

-Complete part 1 of Are We Having Fun Yet in rough pencils.

 

1. write something every week. (not necessarily post... just write. If it's post-worthy, that much the better)

2. finally edit and post that long story lost in the depths of my harddrive

3. finish and post my ESB AU

But knowing myself... I'm probably not gonna manage to do even that much.

 

I've been feeling kinda burned out on the fanfic front and just realized that I haven't written anything since the holiday fic gift exchange LAST year, lol. My goal, therefore, is to R & R more and write something.

 

Trace, you know you have Legacy bunnies nibbling away at your muse. Let 'em at it!

 

Finish four multi chapter stories which have been on hiatus for a rather long time.

Write, all the time, and try to come up with some new ideas.

Work on the book that my husband has been nagging me to write for almost three years.

 

Hmm... Well, let's look at last year's promises first:

1) DONE
2) Failed miserably...
3) Half done! I finished it! It just needs a good beta now!
4) Kinda, maybe, kept up with this one... not much of it got posted, but I did write...

So, I didn't do too bad last year... I didn't make it through NaNo though, which was disappointing...

So, for 2011:

1) Finish UDC5... Drabbles are fun to write anyway!
2) Finish The Shadowed Path and update regularly
3) Complete Nano 2011
4) Work at least once a week on the Original Fiction I started for Nano 2010

3. To explore other characters than Luke/Mara
4. To start editing the Anakin/Padme story
5. To start writing something that pertains to canon.
6. To write at least 30 fanfictions

 

Hmmm... let's see how I did last year.

1) Find more *NEW* favorite authors. Everytime I do, they jump ship just as I'm getting into their story (I'm looking at you Ex)
CHECK: Takianna (although I must read more than just her diary stuff)
2) Dive full into Dapen's story. Maybe give him a happy ending for once...
CHECK: However, I haven't posted enough to back up that claim.
3) Write my own RC story. Karen's gone, so I need my fix.
Started, but not posted or even completed...
4) Don't let MsLanna or Nat goad me into projects I know I won't have time for.
FAILED
5) Write some canon stuff...
CHECK: My 2010 Diary about Obi-wan's years in exile.
6) Enjoy what I write, and finish updates in a timely fashion!
FAILED, FAILED, and FAILED AGAIN!


2011:

Finish the current Dapen Marr fic.
Finish and post the past two Nanos I never completed.
Finish and post the AoTC AU I started.
Read more of others' work, and stop lurking so much lately...

 

- Finish Unexpected Heirs, as in write all the politics.
- Write the missing scenes of Dynasty so that it all makes sense.
- Keep writing. Try not to get lost on the internet.
- Write more crossovers and things out of my comfort zone.
- Write.

And as always, I'm only likely to keep one or two of these. Might as well try, now that the first month of the new year is over and I've made little progress...
