Very surprised at The Newsroom over Game of Thrones. I like both but Newsroom has more bad Aaron Sorkin than good

Salmon Fishing in the Yemen? Really?

Should have gone to Mad Men.

The Impossible isn't even released yet, is it? There's been talk of Ewan McGregor garnering a lot of nominations for his role and I see Naomi Watts was nommed, but he wasn't.

Nor are half the movies that are nominated, but then again the Hollywood Foreign Press is different from the Academy Awards.

I saw the repeated Salmon Fishing in the Yemen nominations and immediately visualized the nominators realizing that they only know four comedies that came out this year, and frantically flipping through IMDB to find something vaguely credible.

The nominations aren't as wholly awful as they sometimes are, but the Golden Globes are still a joke.

Arrrrgh. I have issues with many of the choices that HBO made with Season 2 of Game of Thrones, but Alfie Allen deserves some sort of recognition for his portrayal of Theon.

Doctor Who never gets recognition in the States. I'd be really surprised to see it here. As for Walking Dead, well, it got shafted last year a bunch too.

Nah, it's just me using my lofty political-entertainment influence to ensure it never wins anything ever. :p

I figured there was a chance it wouldn't as soon as it turned into a trilogy. Hollyweird only likes to reward multi - arc film series at the conclusion of them, which in the Hobbit's case will probably be sometime in 2014 after the third film is released.

Well, I guess it's time for the Hollywood Foreign Press to try and make itself feel it important again. [face_tired]I-)

The Hollywood Foreign Press is never better than when Ricky Gervaise is taking the piss out of it.

But not this year. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have a tough act to follow.

Best Picture (Drama) is going to boil down to Argo Vs. Lincoln.

Life of Pi doesn't have enough clout.

They were never going to seriously consider Django Unchained.

Zero Dark Thirty has three things going against it: 1) The controversy over whether the film is pro or anti torture. 2) Most of the people who have seen it say the film is located firmly in the grey end of the morality scale without pat or easy answers. 3) Several reviews have described the film as clinical or detached without much in the way of obvious "emotional" moments. The HFPA won't like that.

Plus it doesn't star Hollywood SUPERSTARS that they want to buddy up with.
