    I don't know much about what's happening, but here's a start:

    February

    Robocop Remake

because the world has been waiting for a Robocop reboot. If it were going to be any good, it would not be released in February.

    Welcome to Yesterday

A group of teens build a time machine. February.

    March

    Divergent

finally, the Hunger Games ripoff that we all want and deserve, starring Charlene Woody.

    April

    Under the Skin

"An alien seductress preys upon hitchhikers in Scotland" - the role Scarlett Johansson was born to play

    Transcendence

Hollywood gets its hands on "the singularity" and turns it into Edward Scissorhands meets Tron

    Earth to Echo

has a vaguely sci fi-ish title

    June

    Edge of Tomorrow

a more actiony Source Code? A less funny Groundhog Day?

    July

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

Reboot part one was reasonably entertaining. But to me, "Rise" and "Dawn" are more or less interchangeable, so I assume the third movie in the series will be called "Birth of the Planet of the Apes."

    Jupiter Ascending

    Mila Kunis. But Channing Tatum

    September

    The Maze Runner

finally, the second Hunger Games ripoff that we all want and deserve

    November

    Interstellar

Matt Damon and Casey Aflac, back together again

Maze Runner sounds more like Cube than Hunger Games, but I only read a brief synopsis.

Under the Skin? Isn't that like Species? Except in Scotland.
I wonder if any of these movies will be the thinky-think type of sci-fi.

Thinky-think? At first, I was going to say no, but then I realized, with that terminology, maybe all of them!

Uninformative first teaser aside, Interstellar is at least intriguing. But then maybe I'm imagining a movie depicting scientists and engineers designing and launching the first interstellar spacecraft and not just some special effects action flick.

I'm holding out for 2016's "Planet of the Apes: Origins" and 2017's "Planet of the Apes: A New Beginning"

Here's hoping for more thinky-think sci fi.

I thought it was more like Charlize Theron's Monster, except with a monster.

You know it would work if you change some words around. An Alien Seductress with a Scottish accent preys upon hitchhikers.

Here's what Wikipedia has to say about Earth to Echo:

A Disney movie. Just like the next Star Wars!

I thought Interstellar was coming out in the summer? Regardless, I hated the teaser.

Nov. 7 according to IMDB and boxofficemojo, but yeah, teaser stinks.

All it was was stock footage of space flights and then one scene of Matthew driving while looking sad. How the hell is that supposed to sell a movie? I don't care that Chris Nolan directed it.

They are going for understated. But only one science fiction film has ever really done that successfully. Nothing will ever parallel the simple, direct magnificence of Will Smith running on a treadmill before cutting to a title card.

Despite it's questionable release date and PG-13 rating, I'm still intrigued by Robocop. It seems like there is some thought behind it, other than Generic Action Movie. And the supporting cast is good.

There's nothing wrong with that concept, at least as far as opening credits go. (I think people know I found the Interstellar teaser lazy.) It's just that they decided to use a trite pop ballad and failed to include the Soviet space program in the montage-- seriously, where the **** is Yuri?

Well that's actually representative of some of the biggest flaws in Enterprise. For some reason in Enterprise we're at United Earth being "Space America" rather than the multicutlural-multicountry that it was in the Federation.

    Wouldn't Amazing Spider-Man 2 count as sci-fi?

Superhero movies have become such a thing that they can be a separate category. They certainly have enough of a formula to warrant calling them a distinct genre.
