Carolina better figure out how to stop the transition game ASAP. The Hoosiers are really burning them with it.

ESPN is reporting former basketball coach Rick Majerus is dead at age 64.

 

Not finalized, but amazing idea for next season:

Next year on Veterans Day weekend, there will be four -- count 'em, four -- games taking place simultaneously at Cowboys Stadium, site of the 2014 Final Four. The games will begin 15 minutes apart and be held side by side (by side by side) in the giant facility. The purpose is to simulate the madness that takes place during the first week of the NCAA tournament. Only instead of the games taking place in four different cities, they'll be played in one town, under one roof

Oh. My. Goodness. YES. Sign me up for some of that.

I HATE Butler. HATE THEM. Losing to them just makes this worse. We couldn't have lost to a real school, like Duke or MSU or something ...

It reminds me of a certain game last December, when the most awesome school in the entire world was unranked and still took down those losers #1 Kentucky. Unfortunately, Kentucky got the banner. Fortunately, that bodes well for IU taking home #6 in April.

Having a good Indiana is great for college basketball, but so are schools like Butler that upset the balance of power.

Any school could be that upset. And I'd prefer almost any other school.

 

Why do you hate Butler so much?

 

Too much pro-Butler sentiment from people I dislike turned grating, which turned me against Butler basketball. And the constant pressure to root for Butler just because of its location ("Butler's in Indiana! Why are you cheering on OSU?"). Gets irritating.

 

Fair enough, I suppose. I usually try to watch the NCAA games of local schools, if they'd get in, like Robert Morris, Duquesne, and St. Francis (PA), but Western PA doesn't have that same basketball "it"-ness.

 

Duke just fell to NC State. That makes tomorrow's game even bigger. Ohio State can deny M*ch*gan a chance to go to #1 in the polls. Hell yes.

 

Anytime Duke falls, it makes me happy.


Of course, Carolina isn't doing so hot this season.

 

Yeah, it's a pretty good season when your first loss doesn't come until mid-January, so as a Duke fan, I can't complain overly much.

I do wish it hadn't come against NC State, though (or I wish we would've looked more competitive in today's game). The only thing worse would've been losing to UNC, Clemson, or Indiana. (I have the same irrational hatred toward IU that Nat has toward Butler. )

 

I love the UNC - Duke match ups. Only a few months to go.

 

Yesterday's game definitely showed how important Ryan Kelly is to Duke, though. Hopefully this doesn't turn into something long term.

Also, breaking news: South Carolina basketball still isn't any good. Oh, wait, everyone already knew that. Nevermind.

 

Badgers on the road, knock off Indiana. Very nice for the resume.

 

I don't think there are any truly great teams out there this year. Could make for a very interesting tournament.

 

Agreed. This is shaping up as one of those years bizarre things happen in the tournament. A five seed winning it all. An eight seed in the Final Four. A thirteen in the sweet sixteen.

 

March Madness chaos is great. As long as we get a good national championship game, I'd be happy with any of those scenarios.
