I'm shocked that NCAA Basketball coaches could be involved in such a thing. Who could have seen this coming? And Louisville? Who could possibly think that a school that employs Rick Pitino and Bobby Petrino might be caught up in a scandal that exposes them at winning no matter what cost?

Yeah, it's amazing how many times Pitino has relied on the "few bad actors, I'm shocked!" defense... this last one though goes way beyond "lack of institutional control" though, and the FBI has audio, soooooooo...

It's going to be fantastic when Louisville is found guilty in the eyes of the FBI, but the NCAA has nothing.

This, by the way, is a feasible outcome here.

Tom Jurich is gone, too, and that is a much bigger deal than losing the embattled Pitino.

20 years as AD, did a lot of yuge things for UL athletics.

Edit - Bobby Petrino's buyout goes from $10 mil to just over $4 mil with Jurich's firing. I imagine that there will be some desperate programs willing to pay that. Three in the SEC alone - Tennessee, Ole Miss,..Arkansas? :p

And this is just the start of it apparently. It seems like the FBI finally might be able to come in and break up the mob known as the NCAA. About time too.

Who on earth have would thought the most stable competent at UL was Bobby Petrino.

Rumorville is the NCAA has looked into giving them Louisville the death penalty but I thought that was really an option anymore due to the TV contracts.

Rumors of Louisville's death sentence will probably get louder today.

The entire sport should be shut down at the Division I level, not just a handful of schools. Then again, I more or less despise Division I college sports. It's a complete and multi-level racket that should be illegal, and would be in a just society. The smaller sports are probably okay, without the heavy influx of money and sleaziness, but the big sports should be outlawed or shut down.

This might be the biggest scandal to hit modern sports and yet all eyes are on the stupid anthem. Pathetic.

While it will likely result in more punishment due to Louisville being on probation, etc, I don't think any amount of money being funneled anywhere could really be more serious than harboring a known child rapist on a coaching staff for 20 years.

Also, the fact that this is, like, the worst kept secret in all of sports makes is somewhat less likely to be the largest anything.

What ever comes for them, Louisville will get it ten times worse.

Or covering up for your own rapist football players and fostering rape culture.

There's nothing worse than the death penalty, and I doubt the NCAA will ever use that again.

I still say Baylor would have been the place to use it.
