    Emmys haven't been nearly as bad for women, POC, and others as the Oscars have I don't think. Trans (possibly Asian?) is still the last frontier where there seemingly is active discrimination for awards as far as I know?

    I agree, though when I said 'hopefully the Emmys don't have the same ending that the Oscars did,' I meant the hilarious mix - up with the best picture award at the end of the Oscars this year.:p

    He hosted last year so technically google was right. The Emmys rotate networks each year. They're on CBS this year.

    Which is how he got the Oscar gig. I think there's rumors of him doing it again next year as well.

    I want to say for sure he's hosting the Oscars next year and potentially the year after. I'm sure when the Emmys are back on ABC in 2020 he'll host again.

    Ah, I should have known they rotate. Is the Oscars is just an ABC thing or they rotate too? Being Canadian, all the awards shows are shunted off to the CTV simulcast anyway so it's always on CTV for me.

    I have a feeling This is Us might get a shot at Drama if only because a network TV show hasn't won best drama since 2006. (and it was 24 season 5 and well deserved cuz that season is awesome) So they might feel guilty considering it's only been tin for premium channels for over a decade.

    Yeah, ABC owns the rights to the Oscars here in the US. I think they just re-upped last year til around 2028 or 2030.

    Yeah, ABC usually has the Oscars. I know there's been talk in the past of rotating it the way the Emmys do, but so far, it's still on ABC for the forseeable future.

    I'll be honest this past season of Veep wasn't as good as the prior one but that show is still better than 99% of other comedies on TV (Silicon Valley had a better season this year). I'll be shocked if Julia Louis-Dreyfus doesn't win again next year as it'll be the last season for it.

    At least they announced Handmaid Tale before 11 so I can watch The Orville. But more awards for aliens and killer robots still stands.

    Cool to see SNL rack up more tin, though.

    Anyway, at 1AM time for the distinctly non award winning series finale of The Strain!

    Veep plummeted in quality after Iannucci left. Some of the decline can be attributed to the show being on its sixth season, but man, I'm really glad it's ending next year. I would say the worst parts are the characters being caricatures of their early selves and jokes that came across as bigoted (see: the Georgia episode) instead of laughing at the bigots.
