Mercedes revealed their W08 car for 2017:



Note the lack of the stability fin behind the camera pod, which the other cars have.

That fin serves two purposes; it directs air over the rear wing for drag and provides stability in corners.

Either the front wing's canards create enough downforce in corners that, with the mechanical grip, it's more stable than it looks - or their aero profile is using some sort of diffuser to achieve the same effect as the other cars.

Ferrari and McLaren today; Red Bull on 26th ahead of the first test (with Scuderia Toro Rosso).

One thing we know for sure is that RBR will run the matte midnight purple/yellow/red scheme again. Both Ricciardo and Verstappen have shown their helmets online and refer to the Red Bull logo as mirroring the livery:

Daniel Ricciardo has stopped on track on his reconnaissance lap and climbed out of his car. He will not start his home Grand Prix.

EDIT: Kudos to Red Bull for managing to get Ricciardo on track for the race, albeit not until Lap 3 (would have been later if not for an aborted start).

 

Not a single post about the result? Great to see Vettel kick off the season with a win, hopefully we'll have a competitive season for once.

 

I was going to post about it, but didn't want to double-post.

Great to see Ferrari on top. Hopefully they can stay competitive throughout the season and make a real fight for the championship.

 

Agreed, a proper team rivalry would make things a lot more interesting this year. I might actually tune into a few more races if so

 

In part. But I think the races themselves need to be more open, especially when it comes to overtaking.
